View 4 Replies View RelatedLately I have had appplications freeze up temporarily for no apparent reason. This happens in WordPerfect, Word, and in my webmail system w/ Comcst and IE. Everything is un-responsive for as much as a minute with "beeps" when I try to get the window to respond by clicking in it or on the button in the system tray.
I wait it out and it usualy clears. But this is not an automatic backup in the word processing apps (which only takes a heartbeat to do). It's almost as if some thing on the machine is recording what I am doing... Once yesterday, I had to shut it down and re-boot, but that's been rare.
Now, I have lots of anti-spyware and other protective stuff: spybot S&D; Spyware Blaster; Webroot; Processguard; and AVI Antivirus. I've scanned and scanned, but found nothing but a few cookies most of which I get rid of.
Is there a way to create Desktop wallpaper out of words using WinXP? I know how to turn an image into wallpaper.

Inside the blue band there is the words .NET Framework Initialization Error Inside the box there is a red blob with an X in it and the words :WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework|v2.0.50727mscorwks.dll could not be loaded There is then an OK button which when I press it the PC loads properly. The machine seems to run OK. I am satisfied that I have no viruses or spyware. I am running XP Home SP2 I do not have a Windows disc as my PC came with Windows installed. I have made recovery disks and reinserted them but this has not made any difference.

If I remember correctly, I had to create a new BMP file of certain dimensions, and use Adobe Photoshop to create a layer of vertical text, give the new file the same name as the old one, change the extension for the old file, and put the new one in the same location. Is the method for the Classic Start menu in Windows XP the same.

What I mean by that is, you can be typing an e-mail and the words stop displaying, a few seconds later the screen will flash and your text will start filling in (it isn't suddenly there, you can actually watch it fill in the letters). Nothing moves on the screen at all until the flash.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have three hard drives : 1 Hitachi 250 GB Sata 2 on Nvidia Controller 2 Samsung 80 GB Sata in RAID O on Silicon Controller 1. the problem is when i boot into windows the LAN connection (two small monitors in the taskbar) takes atleast 10 minutes to show !! and theother problem is that until tht two monitors dnt appear i dnt get any reply frm right clicking any of the drives to see their properties and frm My Computer too, but as soon as the two small monitors come all the properties just pop up.
2. Sometimes suddenly in between Windows shows Write Delayed Failed Error only on the Raid Drives and i cnt access them afterwards,restarting solves the problem tho but jst for sumtime.
I have recently come down with the Smitfraud trojan and have downloaded the command prompt program "SmitfraudFix" to hunt down and terminate my infection. However, the actual "killing process" that SmitfraudFix undergoes requires SafeMode to work correctly (I would assume so it does not harm other normal files). It would seem simple: log into Safe Mode and execute the prompt. Yet here is my problem! I have a laptop that was given to me by my college and instead of having my primary user account (which is given full administrator capabilities, but is not the actual Administrator account) as a "this computer" domain to log in, it logs in under the "GCC" domain (I go to Grove City College).
I would not have imagined this to ever be a problem, but when I start up Safe Mode to execute my trojan-killer I am given only two login fields, not three. Thus I have username and password inputs, but no "log on to" option to choose "GCC." So when I type in my username and password in Safe Mode they are (I presume) assumed to be "this computer" domain inputs. I think you can see where this is going...........
My left and right mouse buttons are reversed. If i go into 'mouse' in the control panel there is the facility to reverse the buttons and it's already ticked, you can untick the box but can't apply or OK it. When I try that the mouse buttons cease to to anything although you can still move the cursor around. I suspected viruses, and have done several sweeps with Spybot, AdAaware, Norton, AVG. HJT CW Shredder. Nothing much found and its still doing it.

I have to refresh the page several times before the page comes up, if it even does at all. Usually, but not always, when the page does open no images appear, just placeholders. I've put in my windows disc and run sfc /scannow and re-registered a bunch of dll files and it seemed to work. for about 5 minutes. Then it went right back to doing it again. OE is also having a problem connecting to the internet. Sometimes it does and most times it doesn't.

View 14 Replies View RelatedXP has now installed - and I want to now allocate a partition to the remaining space. I've read that you can give each drive 4 partitions. When I have the below sorted - I will be adding another 320GB drive as a slave.
(all ATA drives - not SATA) I have 5 questions;
1) Can you have 4 partitions - i.e. C: D: E: F: ?
2) Do you think from the info below, that XP is displaying the FULL space on the drive.
3) I'm confused why the whole of the Unallocated space is not shown because 27.99 GB is shown as Free space (of which I did not set up)
4) I seem to be missing 21.91 GB (see below)
5) If I can have 4 partitions on Disk 0 - can I then have 2 partitions on the slave drive - drive 1 (I'm guessing it would be number 1)...........
