I need my recorded voice on Windows Media Player changed to a dictated/typed form. Are you aware of software that can do that? Free would off course be best, but any will do. have a windows XP laptop.

I have been with NTL now Virgin Media for a year, and have used there Sec package for the same amount of time with no problems, within the last two weeks, I had to uninstall and then reinstall PC Guard, I had a problem with the activation page, it was there fault they had a problem, I now can down load it, but at the end of the install it says, unable to load required security drivers [pkt] and then this no. 2146500093.

I reinstalled windows (before my headset was transmiting my voice perfectly) and when I tested my Mic, it didn't work! I could hear through it but my voice just wouldn't go through. I checked out the recorder on Windows, no sound. I did the check in the audio controls in the control panel, it didnt detect my voice either!I don't know what to do, I even bought a new headset and it still doesnt work, can anyone help me out? I even tried to do detect hardware (even though it should be plug and play, right?) but it wasn't found, help?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a PIII - 500MHz/128RAM PC with Win XP installed on it. My system drive (C: ) has a decent 500MB free space. I have my voice chat applications installed on other drives . Every time I start to voice chat (Y!M, GTalk, Skype) my PC hangs after about 2 minutes. With GTalk it happens in about 1 minute. I have no clue why this happens, the system just gets frozen and I cannot even move my mouse. The situation continues for I dont know how long, but I waited for about an hour once and I always have to reboot my machine. FYI, I am doing voice chat on this PC for the first time.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm getting Page Cannot Be Displayed EVERY single time I open a web page. Whether it's a link or typed in the address bar. I have to refresh the page several times before the page comes up, if it even does at all. Usually, but not always, when the page does open no images appear, just placeholders. I've put in my windows disc and run sfc /scannow and re-registered a bunch of dll files and it seemed to work. for about 5 minutes. Then it went right back to doing it again. OE is also having a problem connecting to the internet. Sometimes it does and most times it doesn't.

Recently, when playing CDs or listening to any sound, the sound has been sounding as if it comes through water! It is like listening to a voice talking whilst gargling.I am not able to find a reason, neither am I able to find a way to correct this. View 14 Replies View Relatedi am tryng to upgrade a machine from 2000 pro to windows xp pro. the pc has a C drive with 23.5 gb free and a D drive with 60.5 mb of free space. when i try to do the upgrade frm the cd it tells me that there is not enough disk space and that i need at least 640 or so mb of free space.
it looks like it is tryng to install it on the D drive. how to get it to use the C drive?
i have went to start properties and customize and advanced and it still dont show up. what does show up is a magnafiing glass that wasnt there b4. it dont let me look up files and folders.

I am going to replace the hard drive, it's time for that anyway. I have the old hard drive connected to another computer as a second drive. I can see the file structure on the drive, but I can't see the files and folders in My Documents for my old profile. How can I access those files adn copy them to the good drive?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI started using VLC Media Player a week or so ago because I was having (have always had) problems with the bloated Windows Media Player. But VLC has an odd problem. When I click on (e.g.) an .avi or .wmv file that came attached to an e-mail, I get an error message saying that "the file does not have a program associated with it to perform the action". But it DOES. I open Folder Options, and there it is. Now, the only action in the file type box is "Play". I notice that the one thing I open with WMP also has an "Open" as an action. I tried entering an Open action, and browsed to the VLC.exe file to put in the path, but it doesn't work.
The odd thing about the situation is that if I SAVE the attachment, then double-click it, it plays perfectly using VLC? Why will it play after I save it, but not when I click it as an e-mail attachment? I suspect it has something to do with having an "Open" action in the file type, but don't know how to enter same and have it work.

I know how to delete history when you click "file" at the top left of the screen, but dont know how to delete history when you click "File", then "open". You will see "File name" almost at the bottom of the screen with a tick on the far right of the icon. If you click the tick you will see history.

With Winamp for example, when you start the program, the last media you were listening is scrolled along the bottom, but you must hit the play button to get it to play. If you listen constantly to one thing, you can make it load automatically. You can either make a copy of the shortcut and edit it, or you can edit the current shortcut. (If you ever change your mind, just delete the part you added.) Right click on the shortcut. Select properties. In the target box, after the shortcut, add the name of the file to play. For example, the default target to Winamp is "C:Program FilesWinampwinamp.exe". Add the name of your file after that. Example: "C:Program FilesWinampwinamp.exe" http://live.cobbscanner.com:8000 /Prefetch: 1
Note three things: A) you just need one space between start program and file. (It just shows up as a hyperlink here, it will not on your shortcut. B) The "/Prefetch: 1" at the end is not necessary, it just causes the program to load faster (another great tweak I found here.) C)The name scrolling along the bottom of your media player may not be the actual file name. To find it for sure (at least in Winamp), when the media player screen is up, right click the title's scrolling banner. View file info. It is the name at the top of the screen.
I have the following problem: Explorer doesn`t show any details for any media file type like artist or album, when choosing Details view. Additionally, clicking on file properties doesn`t show any info either, nor simple, nor in advanced view.The files are fine, and other software reads the media file info correctly, including WMP 11 and Winamp.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving recently had someone else using my computer for a while, installing various software (like winamp and SubEdit player) it seems windows media player (that's what I use) no longer recognises the usual files as media files like .mp3 .wmv .m3u .avi etc etc so when I click open file and select "media files (all types)" in the file type box it shows nothing, so I have to change it to all files which is irritating. Media player still plays everything fine but this is pretty annoying.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince installing SP3 my media centre will not open although the rest of XP runs fine. I get a report 'Strong name validation failed for assembly 'C:Windowsehomeehshell.exe. The file may have been tampered with or it was partially signed but not fully signed with the correct private key.I have the original installation disk from Dell, but it won't recognise the key that came with the pc to re install it. Is there any way I can repair the file in question. I have tried uninstalling sp3, and using the recovery program, but nothing is working to make it work again.

The computer runs perfectly by itself, but as not many programs are yet compatible with XP 64x, I was wondering if there is any possible way to convert from 64x to 32x without completely re-installing windows. Although the 64x Professional is ment for server use, this is in one of my home machines.
