Is it possible to uninstall a program that was uninstalled incorrectly? My brother has bell mobility's turbo stick. He bought a new one and attempted to uninstall the old one. I guess he did it wrong because when I tried to install the software for the new turbo stick I get a message that says I have to uninstall the old one first. It is not in the add/remove, programs or computer files. I can't seem to find it anywhere? Is there a way that I can uninstall it?
when trying to download msn updates i get the message" you must be running windows 98 or above" I am actually running xp pro with sp2 also went to pcpitstop web site and it detected my system was win95.

I'm running on WinXP SP2, and when I go to My Computer and try to open the drive, instead of a folder opening, I get the option to "choose the program I want to use to open the the file." How do I fix it so it just opens normally as a folder?
I installed XP on my new Acer Aspire Revo 3600 (Managed to finally get HDMI sound working okay, etc, etc, but that's another story. It came pre-installed with a Linux distribution, which didn't even get past the boot screen, and up until recently the wireless keyboard supplied was working fine (plug and play I'm assuming). Then starting yesterday whenever I pressed any given key on the keyboard, it would come up with another character (not the one I pressed). Note that some keys are still mapped correctly, but for example the "I" key will come up as if I pressed "7", and "P" will end up with "9", etc. It's as if it thinks the right had side of my alphabetical QWERTY keys are the number pad.Note that this same issue also first happened in the Linpus Linux command prompt when I first received my Revo, but that didn't matter because I put XP on since.
Often times (not always) when I open a web page that contains an image, all I get is a rectangle with a big letter X in the middle. No image. Could it be a problem with my IE settings, with Zone Alarm, or other.
However, when I check the task manager it reports "VM Size" as at the same level or higher than "Mem Usage" for all process, e.g. firefox.exe Mem Usage 77,720K and VM Size 118,756K. This is a problem as my RAM (1Gb) seems to be filled up quite quickly because of the additional VM Size requirements - since I'm not using Virtual Memory, VM Size should be zero for all processes. Is this what it should do, or have I disabled Virtual Memory incorrectly?
I Have just installed a Maxtor SATA 200 GB hard drive in my computer.Partition Magic reads this drive at slightly over 200 GB, but WindowsXP reports it as 193GB. What gives?
DVD-R+RW rom will not burn. I was in MS search, and it came up with this: mfc42.dll is incorrectly installed in the Windows folder and should be deleted. I entered mfc42.dll in the search in MS search and it showed at least 12 mfc42.dll items. They all look pretty important. There was one that was windows folder. This is way over my head, does anyone know exactly what this pertains too and how on earth it is connected to my DVD not working? What will happen if I do delete it? Or should I?
i needed to reformat win xp home and i cannot install Roxio because the upgrade advisor is incorrectly reporting incompatibility. (i am at win xp sp2) I did thisds before and it reinstalled nicely a copla years ago Microsft recognizes it they had a page on it in Help and Support (i put in Roxio Creator 5.1 Basic. it told me to try a couple things but to no avail and the workaround says ignore it..IGNORE? HOW?It can't be ignored cause it won't let me install. this is the disc that came with the puter (Dell Dimension 8100) a few years ago. would anybody have any ideas of how to install Roxio (i cannot afford to buy any new software right now and using WMP 10 is just not as comfortable Roxio is easy and it also writes text so the name of each tune that have bought and burned to a CD-R that I play shows up on my car CD player.
I hate service pack 3.All its done is take my Superduper 2 gig system and turn it into an 8088 xt system. Is there anyway to remove service pack 3, or do I need to do a complete and utter reboot and reinstall of Windows, including all the updates etc?And is there a way i can save the existing updates so that I won't have to download them all again? If I have to do a compelete reinstall, im looking at an 8 hour job or more.

But it says i have to update it althought i have the latest update installed.
I recently had problems with IE8 so I Uninstalled and installed IE7. All my favorites are under my favorites folder: Document and settings/Dell/favorites.When I try to go to one of favorites it tries to print for some odd reason. I bought a new keyboard, and to install it I had to uninstall the old drivers (it was wireless, so is the new one.) After doing that and rebooting, it no longer picks up any keyboards once its in windows. It picks it fine in bios (and I can choose which OS to load.. I have fedora on a seperate HD, not the one I boot off of). This is true for every keyboard! Wireless or not! So I'm stumped.Either windows removed some file when uninstalling the last wireless software, or I donno what else it could be.Any ways I can this fixed? I was thinking if I bypass the password into windows then I can reinstall the drivers. I think a normal XP cd would work?
My Laptop XP Pro with SP3 is totally different to the same on my PC, where I upgraded the Sp's as they came out. So the format is different between the two.I wanted to un-install my laptops version and install the version downloaded from MS, but I don't have the option to do so in Add/Remove on the Laptop as I do on the PC. Its listed, but no option to remove/uninstall.Can I un-install this SP3 in the registry or anyother way or could I just install my version and overwrite the current SP3.
I tryed a firewall called Comodo. I was not impressed because I could not get it to allow alot of my apps access even after creating rules ect. I uninstalled it, which was a nightmare and took forever because their installer is bugged! anyway, I have gone through the Regedit and deleted all ref's to comodo, deleted the folders ect. Best as I can tell everythine has been removed. However I have programs, apps and games that used to access fine BEFORE installing Comodo that cant connect now! Should I do a reinstall of XP? or is there some other files that the firewall might of moded that can be replaced? Any thoughts or ideas? I have a post on the Comodo Forums, but after searching most of the day I have yet to find anyone with a problem like this after following the manuel uninstallation and I'm not to hopeful...
I uninstalled all versions of .NET Framework earlier than 2.0.Afterward,could not access the My Videos file. No matter what program tried to open it would crash.I reinstalled the earlier versions of .NET Framework, but no change.

i had kazaa like a year ago... and in the add/remove prog list, it says i use it ocasionally (uninstalled a year ago) when i click the change/remove button, it doesn't do anything.it's been there ever since.. but i noticed that the file size installed on my computer right now (according the the add/remove prog list) says it's [12,041 mb. the last time i lookedten minutes ago) it was only 11,000-something mb.the last time before that, it was only about 300 or 400 mb
I recently and unwittingly uninstalled my SoundMax program that I assume was my sound driver. As such I can no longer receive audio from my speakers, and the speakers themselves are not recognized by XP. The speakers themselves, by my judgement, are Logitech Z-3e speakers, bought several years ago and working perfectly until this point. They are connected correctly. I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3, with the latest updates. WMP gives me the message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device" In WMP, under Sync--->Options--->Speaker Properties, the speaker is listed as "Default DirectSound Device" and there is no other option. In Audio Device Properties, there is apparently no audio device. I visited the logitech site for a new sound driver, as XP Help reccomended, at the following site:....
I have been trying to remove quicktime but the message comes up a program or control panel appears to be running. Uninstallation cannot continue unless you exit all programs using quicktime. As far as I know quicktime is not being used

I am running a windows XP system. The other day I was uninstalling a piece of software that I had downloaded and wasn't paying attention as I clicked through the prompts and inadvertantly uninstalled it and the sounds for my computer. Is there a way to reverse my blunder and return this computer to its beeping and whirring glory. The computer is my landlords and he is being very restrained in his reaction to my inattentiveness.
I uninstalled Cyber Scrub Professionl Suite v. 4 and it left behind a persistent devil--cybshell.dll It can be seen in Process Explorer displays hiding in explorer.exe in the startup list. I cannot see it running in Task Manager. HiJack This doesn't see it either. Yet I can't delete it. I get the usual XP admonition "Cannot deleter cybshell: Access is denied--Make sure that the disk is not write-protected or that the file is in use.
I've recently uninstalled a program I had on my computer called Venturi2. It had been running in the background and didn't seem to be serving any purpose so did so. I did get the feeling it had something to do with graphics though. This was maybe 2 days ago. I tried playing a game right now (Command and Conquer) and for some reason it was lagging horribly. I've ran it fine in the past. Are these two things related? Either way is there some way to redownload the program? I've tried googling all over but the only links I find are linking to an informer.com domain, whereupon it says it doesnt have the software but to try googling it.
Running Windows XP on a one year old Vostro 220. Problem seems to have started after I replaced McAffee with Norton 360 per Comcast's changeover. I have since uninstalled Norton but the problem persists. Ran PSA which showed no hardware or memory problems. I believe Norton must have changed some of the registry values. I am running Norton on my laptop with Windows 7 but that is not a problem.
