I recently just re-installed windows xp on my hp pavilion laptop. When I get to Hardware Wizard Search and Install options, I type in C:Program (This is where I've downloaded drivers) an error msg. states that there is no device info in this location. I get the same response when I enter the file name. I've battled this driver problem for two days, from installation disk drivers not compatable, to not finding downloaded drivers. Any solutions would be greatly recieved.

In Device Manager the network card does not appear under network adapters but instead under other devices as an Ethernet Controller with a yellow question mark and exclaimation point. Unfortunately, Windows does not appear to have a driver and I can't connect to the internet to search for one.I tried installing DriverGuide which says the device is an "82551 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Controller" made by Intel.

life of me, I just cannot seem to install this CDRom in WinXp SP2. Every time the computer reboots it finds this new hardware and cannot find the drivers anywhere! Internet or on my computer. It just can't find them. I've gone to Lite-On Site but with no luck. I would just toss this piece of out the window and just get a new one but the fact that it finds it tells me that it does works. My DVD-ROM has no problem.
My CD-Rom won't work, I mean theres power but it won't play anything. I tried the troubleshoot tips of uninstalling and then reinstalling, but it couldn't find the drivers. I can't find my installation disks, it won't even play audio CD's. I bought a new game and now I can't lay it.It is a Teac DV-516E. I think that the driver just needs to be reinstalled, but can't find anywhere, can I download it from the net or do I need the disk, what. I haven't messed with my computer in a while, so I have forgotten what I need to do.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI tried with Partition Magic 8.0. It rebooted, and when the script would usually kick in, an error was displayed instead: xmnt2002 program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK and then it would boot. That frustrated me. I tried again, this time unhiding the partitions using grub before booting. Still, same error. So, partition magic was not going to work. Next I decided to try to go to the Linux installation directly, and use the YaST utility to resize my windows partition. I tried, but that failed as well. YaST gave me the "Failed to resize partition. The Installer will now exit" error each time I tried that. So, the Linux-rout failed as well.
By now I was quite frustrated. I decided to re-install Windows from the disks I had been provided, deleting the windows partition using the installation menu and re-installing it on a smaller portion of the unallocated space. Windows was installed using the same amount of space as the first installation -- It did not allow me to resize it's disk usage like I had planned. So, I lost all the software, but no matter, I reinstalled it all in a few hours, then attempted to resize my partition again...............
I recently found an old Gateway desktop in my basement. It is from a few years back, but I figured I'd do a clean install of Windows XP on it and run it in an extra room.I copied the drivers over using a program called DriverMax, and it seemed to work successfully. I had the internet right away and everything else I tried worked. The only problem I am having is that there is no sound. It also says there is no audio device found. Device Manager says I have the most up to date Legacy Audio Drivers, but I am still having this problem. Is there another driver that I might need in order for my computer to recognize an audio device.

I had the option to ignore and chose it. It was then able to complete the registry back-up and create a restore point.2nd - It goes through the installation of the files and was over half-way completed when the setup wizard closed and gave me a SP2 Setup Error message (Access is denied). The program then deleted all of the installed files and reloaded the back-up files. I went to msconfig / restart and disabled many of the startup programs and even installed pc bug fix but nothing had helped.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMany new drivers aren't signed by Microsoft so WinXP will warn you or even prevent you from installing new drivers for a device. To prevent this warning or to allow new un-signed drivers to be installed do the following:1. Go to start/run/ then type secpol.msc2. Browse to local policies/security options3. Change "Devices: Unsigned driver installation behavior" setting to Silently succeed.4. Reboot Computer.Another helpful hint from tweakxp.comKen P Or, especially if you are using XP Home where there is no secpol.msc, right click on your My Computer icon, click properties, change to the Hardware tab, click the "Driver signing" button and click ignore.
