What do I have to do to get rid of windows error code 0X80200010 ? My automatic updates worked fine. Windows update tries to give me 10 updates now, and thy download okay but do not install successfully. I'm using AVAST! antivirus which seems to work very well. I'm also using Mozilla Threatfire and PCTOOLS firewall. In a few more days, I will be 3 months behind on my security updates.

On booting up, the Client Security Setup Wizard comes up and it has no place to click where you can tell it not to come up again. I do not want to use this feature so each time I have to click cancel and then again click, yes I am sure. Very frustrating. I have tried everything. I called tech support but they did not know so they are researching it and said they would call back.

After sourcing the net for a solution to the problem of my computer not being able to download from the Microsoft Website the security updates and updates for Windows Defender I found the following.
SYMPTOMS
When you try to connect to the Microsoft Windows Update Web site or to the Microsoft Update Web site, you receive one of the following error messages: � The necessary services are disabled or unavailable
Whenever I try to download something (example - the latest version of Acrobat Reader). I get a warning that says my Security Settings won't allow it. To my knowledge, nothing has been changed, and this has only been happening since I downloaded all of the latest Windows updates. I have no idea if this is related or how to fix this problem. Can someone give me a clue on what to do?

To enable file downloads check the enable option. My only other option is mucking around with registry keys, which being a puter dunce and haven't a clue about anything like that, I'm not going to attempt.Is there ANYTHING else I can try (nice easy steps) that it going to allow me download stuff that I want from the internet.
A recent MS security download- KB888302 - will not install. I have tried several times without success. Other recent downloads from MS installed just fine. Is there a solution to this vexing problem?

Windows Live Essentials has shown up on my Windows Update page and I have tried in vain to install this package. I have gone to the trouble page after the installation fails and complied with everything that they say could be wrong. AFAIK. have used End It All to close everything except the internet connections.The Windows Live Essentials does actually install. It begins by notifying me that there are no conflicting programs found. Then it installs the entire bundle of programs. Then when the overall status bar reaches 100%, the thing automatically Rolls Back everything until the status bar goes back down to 0% and the installation fails. This is really throwing me. How can the installation get to 100% and still fail?

I am running Windows XP and using Firefox 3.0.1. The problem is that Download blocked by Security Zone Policy, I have gone into the Internet section of control panel and reduced the zone protection to the minimum. I have turned the firewall in McAfee off. These actions did not have any effect. I am not aware of any other program on my computer that would cause this to happen. I use Sypware Doctor, but I disabled that also. My computer is set to load Windows updates automatically and that would be the only software updated I might have loaded.
A few days a ago I got a trojan dropper and it changed some of my dll's. Should I download uninfected copies of the dll's to enusre security?

I'm running XP Pro, verified and all that, and I was trying to use IE 7 and even the latest firefox to download. No dice. I've had to go onto a friend's computer to download .net 2.0. I've even tried turning off my McAfee firewall briefly, but that still doesn't help. As usual, Microsoft's support has been useless. I'd greatly appreciate any help with this problem.

View 14 Replies View RelatedThis has happened on two computers: my wife's and my parents'. Automatic updating is turned on. My wife's computer suddenly lost Internet service upon reboot. I checked everything. She had access to the Linksys router, the network properties showed she was connected to the Internet and, most importantly, I, on another computer, was connected (my auto updates was turned off). I fixed the problem by going to the Device Manager, uninstalling the network card and then scanning for hardware changes. Bing! Working again.Two days later I'm at my parents' house. I turned on their computer, updates were installed and the system restarted. Again, no Internet service despite all apparent "go" connections. Uninstalled the network card, rebooted and it worked again.
I keep my updates off because NetFramework 2 wreaks havoc with a library program I have, so no NetFramework at all. And I've had no problems. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems? My wife had spent more than an hour on the phone with a tech support guy at Linksys and he had her setting up her notebook computer and changing its settings. When I got home, she was right in the middle of working with a computer that wasn't the problem. I guess this guy was paid by the hour because he was in no hurry to wrap everything up. But he told my wife that he works for several companies in tech support (real surprise there) and that MS "updates" create numerous "issues" I think they call them now.

I can't seem to get any updates to download. I have tried both manual and auto update. I have tried checking different settings plus shut down my anti- virus and firewall and still nothing! I checked around microsoft's site and didn't find anything either. When I try to download ( even just one update at a time) I get the update file name failed.
