I have Windows XP Pro installed on IBM T60 Laptop.Whenever I start the Laptop up,the Windows Security Sey up Wizard appears and I wish to stop this appearing every time.In addition,if I fill in my Windows password on the security wizard the system says that I am using the incorrect password.Please can someone advise me how to solve these problems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the last week I have three times tried to log on to my Windows XP Home system and been told after multiple tries that my password was incorrect (no, Caps lock wasn't on). Each time I was forced to log on to my wife's account and reset my password through the control panel. I was then able to log on but by the next day, I was seeing the same problem. I have now had to reset my password three times. This problem has never occurred before in 4 years with the system. My wife has reported the same problem, but claims that rebooting fixed it. I rebooted and was still unable to log on. I strongly suspect a virus, but I have VirusScan Professional on my work license and it updates the .dat files every day. I checked the logs and nothing found. I know about creating and using a password reset disk, but that doesn't fix the problem I'm having.
One option is that somebody else is messing with my password, but my son is off at college and my wife would not know how to do it. I asked my daughter about it and she says she didn't do it, and she is very trustworthy It has happened again since last night without her being on the computer, anyway. I am a very experienced computer user (20+ years) and type in dozens of passwords a day, so I know it's not a problem with my typing.
i forgot my password. i just wanna know how to pretty much hack my computer or reset the password without logging on.

i set up network setup wizard which led to csnw show in the control panel moreover now the way i log in and log off has also changed and when i start my comp it asks for a password.when i press ctrl alt and delete together instead og task manager opening a window security sumthing opens up i want to restore my log in and log off to normal state and delete the csnw **** and restore the task manager.

Nobody was in the room while the XP software was installing, and I didn't create a password for my account (I didn't even have the option), so absolutely nobody at my house knows what the password is. I already checked the documentation that came with the software and it doesn't mention any password.
I have tried to use the XP Pro CD to recover my installed Pro, but when I get to where it wants a password, I don't have one to enter. I did not enter a password when I setup the computer originally. Anyone know what I should do or how to bypass the password?

The hand cursor never becomes a cursor for me to type in passowords to user accounts. I went into safe mode and then into control panel and deleted the passwords for each user acct and now I can get into the accounts but how can I add the passwords again and be able to type them in. Spybot Search and Destroy flashed up and I clicked to allow, or not allow as the case may be, to do something to, from what I can remember, 'WLON' or something similarly named. In any case, what happens now is that I fire up the computer, enter my password, the desktop briefly flashes up for a split second(no icons) and then it immediately logs off and goes to password entry again.

Over a year ago, I got tired of entering my password because I an the only person that uses this computer. I did something so it would boot without the password screen appearing ( I don't remember what, but I think I left the password line blank).
Since the computer boots directly to my account, I am never prompted to enter a password; but if I use Power Options (and the computer sleeps), it wakes to the login screen and I cannot reenter my account. I have to reboot. On the login screen, I have tried leaving the password blank and entering every password I use, but I get an Invalid Password response.

I've got two roadblocks that I can't seem to get around: The logon is password protected. This laptop was used by a company where each employee logged onto a network. I have the username and password, but, since I'm not connected to that network, it does no good. The computer can't authenticate the password and I don't have access to the network.The laptop came with a floppy drive, not a CD drive.
Is there any way possible to get to the C: prompt to reformat the HD? I am able to get into the boot order setup. Once the HD is reformatted,How can I get the reinstallation done without a CD drive? I've already thought about (and actually copied the CD to) a USB thumb drive, but the boot order doesn't give an option to boot from a USB.Is it worth the $10 - $20 to get a CD drive for this laptop off of eBay?
I got Compaq Armada 1592 Its screen said password expired, enter old password, then the new password. I entered old password, tried all sorts of combinations of upper case, lower case I thought I could just bypass that screen and start as new user, but apparently

I am currently trying to set up a log in for xp where the user changes based upon only the password you enter. in other words there will only be one user and it will change based upon the password you enter. i also want to be able to tell who logged on and when.
for example say i setting up a business computer that 20 people will use but i don't want 20 accounts i only want one and each people will have a different password and based upon the password they enter i will be able to tell who downloaded what and installed what by knowing who logged on. thanks for the help
Hi the other day i tried to turn on my computer but it never reached the log in page, which meant I could not use the computer as I normally have to type in my password to go to my desktop screen. I don't know what to do. By the way this is not that laptop. What it does is, it starts up normally where it goes to the bit where is goes windows xp and then under there is a bar with a small bar sliding inside it, but then instead of going to the blue log in page it just becomes blank and restarts. Please help my currently I have to use this not so good laptop and I just can't live without the other laptop.

I have a user here who changed the password but the fingerprint scanner did not seem to recognize the change since when you first set it up it asks for your current password.
