McAfee Security - Forgot Password To Open Internet Applications
Oct 8, 2007I have McAfee internet suite, and I have it set so that I have to enter a password to open internet-based Applications. Problem is, I forgot my password.

Aug 9, 2007After the most recent updates to McAfee Security Centre, I have been unable to locate the part of this security package where cookies where listed ie. there was a list of sites from which cookies were allowed or blocked.It was available through the Advanced menu of the Internet Section but it is not there anymore.Prior to this update, I was prompted whenever I went into a new website if I wanted to allow or block cookies.If I wanted to change this at a later date, I could go into the cookie blocking section of McAfee and change it to either block or allow and there were two separate lists of the allow cookies sites, or the block cookies sites.I understand I can adjust cookie blocking via Internet Explorer but this McAfee function let me choose as I entered individual sites.I have been in contact with 3 McAfee technicians who dont seem to know what I am asking and my Security Centre has been scanned via the McAfee tool and there are no faults in it.

Apr 9, 2007I have windows XP media edition on a Gateway 510XL 3.2 mhz machine. My AVG was expiring so I decided to try another program. I got McAfee security suite and installed it on my system. I had problems on the install (conflict with ad-aware plus) and tried to reinstall. Before reinstall I picked up a bug that automatically resets my home page to http://www.new114.com.cn:8080/ every time I reboot.

Jan 4, 2007I haven't been on my computer for awhile and today when I turned it on and the log on screen came up and asked for a password I forgot it. I have tried all my passwords but they don't work. Of course I didn't set up a hint question or create a reset password disc or even have a guest account set up. I know I can use my recovery discs but I have pictures saved to my hard drive and no where else and don't want to lose them. Any suggestions? I contacted HP (my model is a Pavilion 520n) and they haven't answered any of my e-mails.

Sep 28, 2009I was trying to sign into the domain on one of my workstations when I got an error message. I solved that problem before by removing the computer from server, joining a workgroup, then rejoining the domain. Only problem is that this time, when I joined a workgroup, I forgot the password to sign on locally, and Last Known Good Configuration won't help in this case. Is there anyway to sign on to the local machine? Even if I'd have to create another account, that's fine. Or is there a way to get the computer to give me the option to log on to a domain? Maybe I should have named this thread "Cannot Log On To XP"

Mar 16, 2006I am running XPHome,Dell 8200,256MB,intel pent-4 proc.,1.75Ghz. When I try to log on my computer I get as far as blue screen with window xp logo that appears right before the login names; and it remains, but won't go any furhter. I've tried to logon in safe mode,last known good but was unsuccessful. I tried to do a XP repair from the operating system cd. It loads everything but once I try to logon after rebooting it stays at the blue screen I mentioned earlier.

May 19, 2007I have an administrator account and the guest account. Well my dad took my computer away from me for a while and he changed the password to the administrator account. The problem is, he can't remember what he changed the password to. I only have access to the guest account now, so I can't install or uninstall any unwanted programs, the quality is horrible and I don't have any of my music I've searched around for password reseting programs, but that doesn't help since I can't even install anything on the guest account. Mar 30, 2007I had windows xp installed, and i put a new password and forgot it. i didnt know the admin password either. so, what i did was research a little and found that if you proceed to repair windows, and during reparation, if you press shift+F10 you can get a command prompt, type a command and change the password. well i screwed it all up by deleting part of my hard drive by trying to get there. after this i installed a fresh copy of windows on a different partition, or folder, and now i can see my file i need to share, but cant get to it!!! im so scared ive lost everything, i had some priceless pictures on there that my mom would be very upset without.

It enables the user to re-password any account without having to know the existing password and also shows you every account that exists on the machine (even the ones that are hidden). This is a good tool to use if you forgot a password to say your administrator account and you needed to be logged into the admin account for any reason.To view all of the user accounts:1) While logged onto the computer, click on Start>Run>and type in CMD. 2) From the command prompt window, type in net users. This will show you every account that is made onto the computer whether it is hidden or not.To change an account password:1) While logged onto the computer to an account that has administrative rights, click on Start>Run>and type in CMD.
2) Type in net user then the name of the account then * and press enter. heres an example: net user administrator * or net user "Joe Smith" * . Put the name in quotes if it contains spaces.3) From there it should ask for a new password. Type in your new password (type very carefully - the command window won't display what you type) and once more to confirm it.

Jul 27, 2007First off, i have a 60gb ide drive for my windows installation (3 other drives for storage), and i got a 150gb Raptor X, which is sata. I cloned the 60gb boot drive onto the raptor, but it didnt boot, and said the HAL was corrupt. My guess would be that the hardware abstraction layer got all defunct when it saw the new sata drive, but was expecting an ide? After all that, i decided to run a chkdsk on the ide drive, and clone it again, to see if it booted. I used the recovery console on a windows xp pro disc, but alas, i couldnt chkdsk because i forgot my admin password. Stupid me.

Mar 19, 2007Problems started to occure on March 18,2007.
I load up my pc like normal. My McAfee had a strange error come up, it said "McAfee Security Center:Your computer is not fully protected". So I clicked it. I try to configure it so that I could get my suite working. Well nothing happened. I pressed auto fix, and it wouldnt work. So the security suite said that i should do a re-install.
I completely removed it through add/remove programs. And tried to do a re install using my disc. It then said that the spam protection would load. Now everytime i try to load my security center, nothing shows. It just sits there.. Well now tonight at 10:59 on March 19 everything went down the hell hole. Now I figured that I was not the only person with this error so I actually found a post

I tried to do what was on the list.
Well what a thing happened. I now can't load any exe, or use and lnk file. It asks me to either choose from list, or search the net. I am in a sticky situation. I can't load regedit, I can't use system restore. I tried to use my dell operating system disc. to reinstall or go to a system restore point by loading up the disc. Well nothing is working, the only thing I can access properly are my flash games, and the internet, by using any address bar.

Unable To Open Task Manager After McAfee Virus Clean Up
Oct 11, 2005I got a virus, McAfee cleaned them and now today I cannot open task manager. It opens then closes that fast. McAfee still finds no viruses. I've ran ewido 2 days ago and spybot. IE sometimes doesn't load and I cannot access the resistry from RunRegedit.exe, it also opens then closes.

Jan 5, 2005I have a Dell inspiron 2650, it is screwed up and I dont know what to do about it. I am running windows and office xp. Whenever I try to open IE, it will open about 50 times.
