I am a beginner. My windows just recently crashed, and I had to repair it. During this process, I was asked for the administrator password. However, I have never set any password for my computer. What should I do now?
View 9 Repliesi have try to using my friends Bootable cd to reset(clear) my windows XP professional "administrator" password, because i forgot that administrator password. This tools very powerfull, just boot this cd while power on the pc, than will erase the administrator password, after that can login administrator account as no password needed, than can go to system change and remember again the new administrator password. Any body know this tools product name? where can get it or download it?

When you try to put in his password that he has had for a long time, it doesnt work. My question is this, can I repair XP pro with a xp home disc?? View 14 Replies View RelatedMy account on my computer (Win XP Pro SP2) is an Administrator account. Over a year ago, I got tired of entering my password because I an the only person that uses this computer. I did something so it would boot without the password screen appearing ( I don't remember what, but I think I left the password line blank).
Since the computer boots directly to my account, I am never prompted to enter a password; but if I use Power Options (and the computer sleeps), it wakes to the login screen and I cannot reenter my account. I have to reboot. On the login screen, I have tried leaving the password blank and entering every password I use, but I get an Invalid Password response.
i am living in costa rica and just recently purchased what i believe to be a refurbished hp nc6000. in downloading some items from microsoft, i confirmed that i have authentic xp professional installed. however, the previous owner could not provide me with the original cd, hense my dilema. in deleting some previously loaded software, i believe i inadvertantly deleted some shared files for other programs. is there anyway without the original disk to repair the installation or operating system. i have read about hidden partitions and the like, but am not confident enough to try this. i have the serial numbers and whatnot for my xp professional software, so i am not sure if having that info allows me to do anything without the actual cd. one of the problems is i have downloaded internet explorer 7 but it fails to completely install. i have gotten the most recent service packs and updates from microsoft but still no progress. i would go out to the local best buy and get the appropriate software new if i wasnt living in the middle of a third world country. there are computer repair shops close to me, but everyone has spanish operating systems and mine is xp in english and i cant afford to chance losing it. is there any way to recreate the software or operating system back to its original format with all original folders and files intact?

After entering the number corresponding to the installation that I want to repair, I am prompted to enter the admin's password. The problem is that it says my password is not valid I am the administrator and only user of the computer. I have always used the same password. I changed to a new password with same results. My only guess is that because this is a Compaq Presario with a permanent repair partition preconfigured as D: it will not allow use of the Microsoft Recovery Console.

The thing is, he got it from this old school, and he needs administrative control as right now, he can do almost nothing. He cant contact the school, and I tried looking for some password resetting or something but nothing.I just searched through almost all 50 topics of the "I lost my administrative password" topics, hoping to find an answer, and I did, but now I need help with that. I downloaded the CD version from my computer, extracted it, and burned the .iso file onto the cd. I put in the cd in the laptop, and nothing happened. So I rebooted, and nothing happened. I tried to open it, but it doesnt work with anything, so now it opens with Notepad, which doesn't do anything.

Open up Command Prompt. #2. type in "net user Administrator (Password goes here)" (Without the quotes, And put in a password in place of the "(Password goes here)") So lets say you want to set the password to "computers", You would then type in: net user Administrator computers Simple as that! And doesn't involve rebooting!

The problem is, he can't remember what he changed the password to. I used the 'Network Connections' wizard in the control panel. in this wizard i did input a passwrod as one of the fields needing filling in. I reset my computer - note i am using a different computer now! - and it asked me for a password to 'Log onto Windows'. i tried using the password i entered in above wizard set-up, but this is not working. have tried all variations but with nothing working. i cannot get into my computer! is there a way i can bypass this screen - i can see none! this is not an 'official' network that has been set up, so there is no administrator to re-set the password.
