Transcoding Video Makes Tower Make Unknown Noises?
May 31, 2007
When I make a dvd my tower starts making a loud noise like the fans are blowing very fast when the program is at the transcoding part why has my pc all of a sudden got really hot? the werid thing is when i open task manager and then minimise it and then maximise it the fans slow down for about 50 seconds my computers only 6 months old and it never happend in the 1st few months.
I keep hearing very weird noises out of my computer. - Which I thought was adaware or something. The noises are occurring more and more frequently, and new noises seam to be appearing now!)I have run f-secure, AVG, super anti-spyware, malware bytes, and possibly more.I have done a HJL (and had it checked - found nothing), and used task manager, and process explorer to try and find what is running, and found nothing
My problme is that i will be doing things on line or anyotherthing on my pc and i will hear random noises like error noises or download noises but i have no screen pop up ? i was just wonderg what was going on or if something was doing things to my pc that i cant see ?
I have a bit of a problem, for some reason my system is showing "unknown" in my device manager, the only hardware that has been installed on this system is a new video card, (radeon HD5570) that seemed to go in without a hitch. Simultaneously, with this appearing I started having issues with windows media player not play .mod files, using web help it says that I need to update my audio drivers, but according to Dell they are good. Would really like some help with this.
Does anyone know how I can Make a Powerpoint slide show with video, And be able to email it to someone, and when they open it up view it with the video I am able to view it here with video on my computer, but when I email it, they only see it as a slide show
when I try and open up certain folders that have pictures and video from my digital camera I have uploaded whenever I try and open the video files or hover over them I get an error message reading:
Application Error
The ordinal 6880 could not be located in the DLL MFC42.DLL.
After I click OK it closes any & every explorer window I have on the screen. Including the one with the video files in it.
I decided to help out an older friend upgrade their computer. I had an old tower lying around minus a Hard Drive, and I figured that I could remove my friends Hard Drive from his PC and pop it into my Tower and away he'd go. Well, it didn't work. The PC seemed to boot fine and showed the initial text, but when it came to the Windows XP loading-part of the boot process, the monitor flashed white for a millisecond then went blank and the power light turned to amber, then off altogether.I disabled my ATI Graphics card, then tried again with no luck so I looked in BIOS but couldn't get it to detect the drive which is a Seagate Barracuda 40GB drive.I did however notice that the HD was listed as Secondary Slave. I was able to move it up to Primary Slave by moving the jumper but couldn't set it as Master. I even tried with the jumper removed. In fact I don't recall whether or not there was a Secondary Master there is a DVD/CD Combo drive installed so maybe that was set as Secondary Master? I'm afraid I can't remember.
I then tried connecting the HD to the same cable as the DVD/CD drive with no luck. The HD is an IDE and my original HD was also a Seagate IDE drive. Also FWIW, the last time I used my Tower with an IDE HD installed ( only months ago) it all worked perfectly. After a few hours I called it a day.So, when I returned home I realised that the DVD/CD drive was probably throwing a spanner in the works and I should have unplugged it to see if that would get a result. Finally it dawned on me that my friends internal HD would have all the drivers pertaining to his particular set up (Mobo, etc) but not the drivers for my mobo and maybe that's why Windows didn't boot up.I'm left wondering if it's even possible to do what I'm trying to achieve, or would my friends IDE Hard Disc need to be wiped before installing it into my Tower? I have the ABIT VIA-1.31M driver disc that came with my mobo, but don't really know where to go from here other than to try to install the drivers for my Mobo onto my friends HD before I remove it from his PC and install it in the one I want to give to him ..
I'm getting ready to reinstall XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400 and when I run SIW, Everest and Belarc they all come up with the same Windows 25 character product key. But when I look at the sticker on the side of the tower there's a different product key. Why are the keys different and which one should I use?
i got an Antec Nine Hundred and have 9 drives. Few of those are backups of the others. How ca i turn off (stop spinning) only some of them to preserve their life and turn on again to do backups. Without disconnecting Molex connectors. Is there some software or a function in XP to manage power on/off the 12 volts Molex connectors.
Here is my problem: I am trying to stream FLAC files from my laptop or desktop running XP and foobar2000 via usb to a Bryston BDA1 DAC then on to a preamp and 2 channel amp.I get these little popping noises at irregular intervals. Same thing happens with both my laptop and destop, but not with my wife's laptop. Did some research and others were saying to disable other usb devices on the usb bus, I went in the Device manager section and did that, plus killed some processes to no avail. Even disabled all wireless cards, etc..
My computer is old (but I love it). And recently I hear funny clicking noises from my C drive and it cannot always be accessed. I have win2k installed on drive C and winxp on another physical hard drive D. I am using only winxp on D.
I have a Toshiba satellite and it has windows xp home edition. It has been making continuous clicking noises. What do I do,download or do I need to go to a shop?
My dell dimension 2400 4 years old.Install macfy and it slows down.uninstall Macfy and its back to normal.Install Norton, slows down again.Uninstall Norton..back to normall again.Someone can help.
I have recently merged c & d drives and also had a prob installing nero but that is fixed. Now I have tried to use cameramate propix dvd wizard and it says there is no device. I have tried re-installing but that makes no difference and it s the same with nero that cannot find a device. I have usb plugged in and it says there is a new device, but not which one and I or it cannot find a driver. I am really stuck as I want to copy my video.
Sometimes when I tell the computer to shut down or restart, it won't..until I make it standby and then wake it back up again and then press shut down so that it will work. How can I fix this problem?
In the days of Windows 3.1, I had a program called In Control. Before installing a program, I would start InControl and it would then monitor and record every change to the system made by the installation, every line added to WINDOWS.INI, SYSTEM.INI, every file added or modified and even recorded changes in file time stamps and versions for DLLs etc.Is there anything that thorough for Windows 2000/XP. I want to be able to examine such a record that would not only record file version changes and files added or modified but also every line added, deleted or changed in the Windows Registry. Is there such a utility that really gets it all, down to the last detail?
I bought a computer that has SP2 already installed so I can't get rid of it. It blocks all the pop-ups I need to get to and makes my computer slower.I hate SP2.
I have a really weird problem, when i listen to a music i get buzzing really weird noises when i try to scroll or do other things like when using internet and clicking on links. I use headphones and my sound card is Sound Blaster
Ok, a little worried as I've never experienced or heard of this before... This isn't the first time I'm hearing this random strange recorded noise that goes something like "ho ho ho ho!" (in a scary santa-like way?!) followed by a female voice saying "hello?" and then another female voice saying "you better be behaving yourself" - something like that anyway.
My problem is that despite downloading pretty much every possible sound driver on the Toshiba website that it says is meant to work for Windows XP, none of them seem to make the sound work. All I get in the place of sound is that obnoxious beeping noise. When I install the drivers, most of them state that a sound device was not detected but I am perfectly sure that I have a sound device because the sound worked amazingly well when I still had Vista, or they simply 'install' and just dissappear and have no obvious effect.
i downloaded a movie mr and mrs smith its a windows media file when i even right click on its properties the computer starts running at 100% and i cant seem to get rid of the file when i try to delete it it says i cant as someone or another program is using it and i havent even clicked on it even if i put the mouse over the file the computer does the same
My taskbar becomes unusable in a number of situations. By unusable I mean that I cant use it to select any open programs, open the windows start menu, or select anything from the notification area. IN short it losses all functionality. Programs already launched may be visible, but they can not be selected. Occasional bits of the taskbar are missing (and I can see the desktop background) or they are simple black.
I turn on my computer it makes a beeping noise for like five seconds and nothing happens the monitor will not come on. But CD drive still opens and closes
I would use one, but I don't want one so I disabled it in Security Center. But Microsoft thinks I must have inadvertently disabled it, so Windows Update occasionally turns it back on.Is there a registry tweak to prevent Microsoft from turning the firewall back on?
This isnt really a problem but i was wondering if your page file size really makes a difference on performance. I tried to switch it up from 755MB to 900MB hoping it would make games run faster but it switched right back to 755.
When i try to download torrents or stream videos, my PC suddenly makes a crackling noise and freezes my computer beyond anything i can do as the mouse will no longer function, the only way to get rid of this is to turn the computer off via the power switch. Does anybody know a general solution to this or tell me a way i can find the errors that are causing this problem and give you feedback?
