View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up my cpu, it makes a really loud whirring noise, but after I am logged into Windows and after about 2 minutes, the whirring sound subsides. I'm not sure if there is anything wrong with my computer.... I'm extremely worried about that weird whirring sound.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a really irritating problem with my computer. It happens when the computer is left on for awhile, and then suddenly the computer shuts off out of nowhere. After it shuts off, it makes a weird noise(like a high pitch then low pitch), it seems like its coming from the motherboard or something.I can't even turn it off or on using the power button so I have to pull the plug from the back of the tower and restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought this computer, and after only 3 months later, my compter started to make weird buzzing noises when its in the screensaver mode. Its no doubt a virus but norton cant detect it... I never knew viruses can affect sounds on a pc.

View 14 Replies View RelatedHow can I tell which processes don't need to be running on my machine? I think that may be some of what is slowing down my comptuer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep hearing very weird noises out of my computer. - Which I thought was adaware or something. The noises are occurring more and more frequently, and new noises seam to be appearing now!)I have run f-secure, AVG, super anti-spyware, malware bytes, and possibly more.I have done a HJL (and had it checked - found nothing), and used task manager, and process explorer to try and find what is running, and found nothing

View 14 Replies View RelatedAt any one time I have approx 60 processes running, even after just booting up my computer. Although I am not a computer expert, this seems like too many to me. I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me if this definitely is too many to run at once, and if there is some way I can post a list of the running processes and have someone with more knowledge help me get rid of some of them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWin Xp, Dell and cable connection When I do ctrl>alt>del, it shows 17 System processes running. Are all of these necessary? Also, some of the other running processes i recognize, i.e. firewall, IM, anti-virus, but some of them I don't have a clue what they are. Is there a list somewhere of what should/shouldn't be running necessarily?
View 13 Replies View Relatedi want to free up space but dont know how, i tried disk clean-up, ccleaner and still not that many space was freeup up also i want my computer to be alot faster because lately its bein very slow.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went through all the processes listed in my task manager and I show 70 running.I checked them all out and most are "system" processes like svchost.ext and things like spoolsv.exe, etc.but a lot are for programs that I need running in the background (my virus software, mouse, keyboard, smiley faces don't laugh! and stuff like that) not to mention the programs I'm working in at the moment.I'm just curious as to how that compares to other XP users.how many processes do YOU have running right now? BTW, I have tons of memory so the all these processes never create slowdowns or other problems, so I'm not asking because I have an issue to resolve. This is simple a case of inquiring minds want to know!
View 11 Replies View Relatedhow I figure out:what some of the processes that are running on my machine whether they are necessary How I stop unnecessary processes running
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have counted over 50 processes on start up, how many should there be, and how do I identify what should'nt be there?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan someone please tell me how I can shut down some of the running processes in the background.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow many & what processes are necessary to start and run xp. Some maintanence programs that tell me how many running processes are there is around 20 to 30 processes. Which I think is slowing down the boot up of my laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy PC has slowed down considerably, so I opened the Windows Task Manager and under "Processes" there are 101 processes listed. 53 of those processes are "iexplore.exe" The "Mem Usage" listed for these varies between approximately 14,000 K to 40,000 K. I have looked at the Windows Task Manager sometimes in the past and iexplore.exe certainly wasn't listed this many times. Should I end these processes, and if so, how can I keep this from happening again?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just bought a compaq presario laptop a month ago, and now it's having problems. Every time I turn it on for a few hours, it starts to run at close to 100% CPU constantly, even when I'm not doing anything. I check the running processes, no single process seems to be doing the thing. It would be Mozilla using 80% of the CPU power while tskmgr.exe uses 20% one second, then next second it would be explorer.exe using 50% of the CPU power while svchost.exe using 50% of the CPU power. Sometimes, the processes would show that System Idle Process is at 95%, while the performances tab would indicate that 100% CPU power is being used, which is absolutely confounding to me. End tasking processes don't work, it'll just be different processes or some imaginery process taking 100% of the CPU power.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an old computer that's running windows xp, and I want to know what I can delete from my add remove to make things run faster. I use disk cleanup and defrag often, as well as a free registry cleaner every now and again (which seems to pick up the same problems every time, i think mostly because error files are with programs that came preinstalled on my computer that are long gone, if anyone knows how to get rid of those let me know). I'm running on only 512 mb of memory. How do I view other specs? I can also provide a list of the things in add remove if you like so you guys can tell me what's unnessesary.
View 14 Replies View Relatedmy computer is sooo slow - i have a p3 which takes ages to work. i keep pressing ctrl alt del to stop some of the processes which arent necessary but i thought i should ask here the importance of each task so that i keep the imp ones and get rid of the unimp ones. so can anyone advise which one needs to keep and ones i can do without? id like to get rid of whatever i dont need.
View 8 Replies View RelatedLast night after the computer was running really slow i decided to close a few processes! Being my usual, carefree self i managed to make the system go into one of those 60 seconds til shutdown. I opened cmd and aborted the shut down. I then saved what i was doing and shut it down. Turning it on this morning, all of the services are disabled and there is no option to re-enabe them, and everything seeems broken!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a pc technican, I have noticed that over the years whenever i have a particular brand of pcs sometimes some pcs boot up much faster than others, sometimes even when the spec is better on some systems, i have a dell pc here i have been asked to replace a psu on, i am just wondering why exactly it boots up really fast, in comparison to some new builds i build sometimes, with the latest components faster ram etc, maybe it`s the hard drives some of these are using?
View 2 Replies View Relatedyou know that noise a computer makes when you boot it up that beep noise? well my computer makes that noise at random when it's on,it just slows down for a second then makes the noise then goes back to normal is that bad?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased Windows XP Home and installed it on my computer, but sometimes, especially if I am playing a game , it will make beeping noises, very much like the old arcade game I don't know what it is doing this, but I get the same sounds on different games, it will also do this when I am just in Windows and not playing a game. This is internal and not from my speakers.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen moving around on computer, not on net, the computer in general, everything has slowed down...making attachments, typing in Word, viewing programs list etc.I have done a clean up and defrag, have Norton, did all windows updates yesterday, what else should I do? Still have the problem.Could this be security related and maybe a bug, would that slow down whole computer not just internet? Should I run all scans and post a Log on security or here?
View 14 Replies View RelatedUnusually slow system; unsure where to go from here.machine runs very slowly for the processor and for the amount of processes running. There is some degree of visual skipping/slowness,it is particularly apparent with audio and visual media. Even the startup sound is very drawn out and is characterized by a long, skipping echo. Music skips randomly and even alert noises, (such as the one heard when ending a process) has the same skipping/echo. This happens even when there are few apparent processes running and very little CPU usage (such as 5%), as well as when the system is overloaded (which happens remarkably quickly for the 20-30 processes running).
