May 24, 2005I am having a really irritating problem with my computer. It happens when the computer is left on for awhile, and then suddenly the computer shuts off out of nowhere. After it shuts off, it makes a weird noise(like a high pitch then low pitch), it seems like its coming from the motherboard or something.I can't even turn it off or on using the power button so I have to pull the plug from the back of the tower and restart.

Apr 21, 2008So I tried to installed Windows SP3 as well as a bunch of other things and my computer kept crashing and acting weird. I couldn't pin point it so I had to re-format my computer and lost lots of stuff. I also had to re-format about 4 times for some reason. Each time Windows wasn't installing correctly.
So after a brand new fresh install of Windows XP I updated my computer and installed SP3. As soon as I did that my computer wouldn't log into windows anymore and once again I lost a few things. Now I know that SP3 is a bunch of crap.

Oct 14, 2007I don't know what's going on with my PC. I have a HP 6420nx windows xp.
My PC suddenly froze while I was using it so I turned it off for a couple of minutes. THen when I turned it back on, it started making beeping noises. There was also no start up screen, the monitor is just blank.

Dec 2, 2004I went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.

I use disk cleanup and defrag often, as well as a free registry cleaner every now and again (which seems to pick up the same problems every time, i think mostly because error files are with programs that came preinstalled on my computer that are long gone, if anyone knows how to get rid of those let me know). I'm running on only 512 mb of memory. How do I view other specs? I can also provide a list of the things in add remove if you like so you guys can tell me what's unnessesary.

Mar 25, 2007My computer keeps crashing and restarting itself all the time. it also keeps freezing when i am using programs. it doesnt happen with just one program, it happens when i am on the internet too. i have run AVG, spybot search and destroy and spyware blaster but there is nothing coming up as abnormal.

CDROM Drive Crashing My Computer?
Oct 13, 2006Its been happening for maybe a month now, whenever i put a game CD in the computer, sometimes it runs fine, and sometimes it dosen't, its like a 90/10 chance that it will screw up.Whenever i place a cd and it DOES screw up, here is what happens, first it will make the loading noises, fans get noisy, etc. as Usual, then suddenly, i hear a 'click' noise, a familier noise that i hear when i hit the 'Reset' button on the case.So when i hear the click when i loaded the game up, after a few seconds, the mouse stops moving, and then the sound goes off, and it sounds as if the harddrive is making the same sounds as it does when it restarts but the screen is frozen on what it was last viewing.So, basically, the computer makes restarting-like noises nearly everytime i put a cd in the cdrom drive and freezes, and i have to shut it down w/ the button on the case.
