I have to keep reseting my computer time every so often. It's worse when I turn on the computer. It's always ahead by about thirty minutes, I have to keep setting it back. It never stays put. (CMOS battery?) Anything I can do to fix it? Windows 2000

View 6 Replies View RelatedWindows XP SP2. Over the course of about 8 hours overnight, my system clock will fall back about 45 minutes to 2 hours. For example, it might be 8am, but the clock will say 6am until I fix it. As you can imagine, this is pretty annoying. It happens all the time. It appears to be a gradual change, not a big jump. I think the clock either freezes or runs too slowly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine told me the other day that he had downloaded a third party system clock because his did not show the day of the week in the tool tip that appears when you hover over the time. He said the rest of the computers in his house did and that they were all running XP. At first I didn't think that this was even a feature of XP. My computer also does not do this. Today at work however, I just so happened to hover over the time and noticed that the tool tip did contain the day of the week. I am always double clicking the clock to check the day of the week at home and this feature would be quite useful.What's going on here? How do you get the day of the week to appear? I checked the system clock settings and there is nothing in there. Google's no help either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis all started when my computer was shutting down at random times when I was in windows...at first I thought it was my CPU because it was just shutting down when I was playing games... but I no longer think this because it started shutting down when I was just in windows.Anyway so my friend and I started working on it...we thought it was the mild overclock we put on a few weeks earlier. However, my temps were normal and it passed the stress tests we did on it through the BIOS...So we changed the settings back to stock. No luck.Problem not solved. In fact, now we can't stay in windows for more than a couple seconds before it re-boots.

I am aware of the OEMINFO.ini file but that only changes information in the Computer properties page when you right-click 'My Computer' and choose properties.But when you use dxdiag,the System Manufacturer and System Model read "To be filled by O.E.M".Could anyone please tell me how to go about changing these settings ? Changing the OEMINFO.ini file does not affect these values.OEM manufacturers like Dell, Sony have changed the settings on their products, so I'm sure it's possible.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy computer started acting up, and I couldn't play any games.WoW mainly -(Yes I play it) and Cod4, So finally I managed to fix it myself and this is what I did. Went into device manager, disabled then enabled my GFX card, Then I have to go into display properties and change 3D acceleration to 0 then back to full, Also when I do this it corrects my resolution.
However, EVERY time I power down my computer, I have to do this which get's very annoying
I have two problems the first, my system crashes every time that I try to change an icon on the desktop. If I want to rename or delete a icon I have to use explore to do so. Also some times when using the explore the system crashes. I have run virus scans, defrag, Norton Windows Utilities, and Spy Sweeper all come back clean. I go to the task list to check what processes are running but everything seems to low. The cpu shows 2% to 4% usage. My second problem is USB connections. I can no longer sync with my Dell Axim. I have disconnected and reconnected the USB connection and reinstalled the Microsoft 4.2 Activesync software but nothing helps. My USB printers still works.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using a Compaq Deskpro with Windows XP SP2. And then I sold that computer and bought a Compaq Evo. I then inserted the same harddrive but it is failing to boot. When I insert the installation disc it says "Press any key to boot from CD". Pressing keys does not activate anything and it stays on the same screen. I then created 6 set up disks and they all work perfectly loading drivers etc. The problem starts when I reach the stage where it says "insert Win XP SP2 installation disc and press any key when ready". Pressing the keyboard keys produces no response
