Read Write Text Files - Batch File
Jul 19, 2005i would like to know if there's a good place to learn about makingbatch file because i don't know about the syntax. I only program in c,delphi and Java.What i would like to know is if it's possible to do a "while", "if"(Conditions) and "read/write" text files so i can do a several testlike ping few computer in my buisness and be sure that they are wellconnected by creating a file that after it read the name of the computer it will ping and it pings it, write a file with the name of this computer with a "ok" next to it if it worked and "Not connected"
if it can't ping it!

Jun 28, 2005Every morning after I turn on my computer, the hardisk lights will keep
flashing for about one hour and system is slowed down. I use task manager
found that svhost.exe had 1.3G I/O read and 600M I/O write after PC only had
run for only one hour. What's the cause of it and how can I stop it?
Unable To Read Or Write To Database - SP2 Not Completed
Sep 13, 2009I had to hit the ole restore button and my computer bought me back to the beginning ( XPsp1). When I try to install SP2 I keep getting :" Unable to read or write to database" And then it said:" Service pack 2 did not complete" I also check the Microsoft website and i said I was getting a error code: 0x800710D9

Apr 29, 2008Firefox and IE7 display alt text instead of image Working on my friends laptop, her web browsers are displaying the alternate text instead of the image. I attached an image of both IE7 and firefox. I thought this may have been a setting issue, but it is occuring on both browsers. I asked her how long its been this way, she stated "for as long as i have been using this computer" The main photos are displayed, its the image tags, see the photos below for a better understanding of the problem.I have done the usual, scan for viruses and spam. Resetting all settings on the browsers,no clue at the moment.

Sep 5, 2007I had Windows XP Pro SP2 installed, and then i did the huuuge mistake to install Vista Ultimate. Got annoyed and reinstalled XP Pro SP3.I backed up my files before goin back to XP on an external HD. And when I copied back the files to the pc I saw, to my horror, that everything looked ok. But when I try to open text documents, it's just garbled text. Looks like this.Every single document looks like that, rtf files, txt files, word documents and so on. And I've tried to open them and converting to different codings in word and so on (UTF, ANSII and what not). Nothing works.And then I saw, when I was gonna import my bookmarks in Firefox that I saved before I went back to XP from Vista, that those html files also are full of garbled text
I looked around on google, and can't find anything about it I would greatly appreciate some help. Every single text document, which is quite a few, is messed up. And some of them, I didnt even open in Vista.. So don't know if it's because of Vista or if its something else.

Jan 27, 2007Every time I try to install SP2 either from microsoft's web site or from a copy of the actual file, i get an error message that reads "cannot read or write to the database" and the install stops. It will go through everything except installing the program (i.e. check my key, check the system, backup files etc). What would cause this and how might I fix it? I'm running XP Pro.

Nov 6, 2005I have four computers, three on windows XP and one on Linux. All are connected to the internet via a D Link DI-704. I had to reformat and reload one of my computers yesterday with windows XP and then proceeded to set up the networking. I will call the windows computers A, B and C. I reformatted A. Having run the networking wizard I can now from A read C but not B. B will not let A or C in. I need permission from the administrater. There is no administrater on any computer. C can read A but not B. B can read A and C. Does anybody know what is going on?

Dec 3, 2006I am trying to create a full HD image of my Dell c800 Laptop using Drive Image 7 (circa 2003) to an USB HD. I have tried twice and received failures about my HD having bad sectors OR locked sectors. I ran check disc with repair and did not find any problems. Re-ran check disc from the boot disc that came with the application and found no problems with the disc. Tried again for a backup and received the same error. I am thinking it is one of the programs I have loaded has a locked sector or one of my processes that loads during boot is the problem?

Apr 3, 2010I recently bought a refurbished Dell OptiPlex GX620 computer that came supplied with XP Pro S2 and S3 installed, a DVD/CD RW device and a floppy drive installed. I installed a Nero 6 program that I used with my old Win 98SE system and was able to copy files and folders from my old computer to be transferred to the new one. Yesterday (4/2/10) I tried to play a DVD and nothing happened. I chose to run E: and saw the various chapters available on the DVD but when I went into Media Player 11, it told me that it could not play the DVD. I tried another DVD but got the same notice. The notice window suggested that I move my video resolution down to 640Xxxx and lower my colors down to 16 bit from 32 bit. I also tried that but no joy. Can anyone suggest what might be happening here? I have a 3.6 Gig processor in this rig so I don't think it's a speed problem.

Now I have a write problem to the Pioneer DVR-106D drive. When I attempt to either copy a DVD or just burn a data disk, I get an "INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE" error message. Happens every time now.As my system is already set up as a "Dual Boot" operating system with Windows XP & Vista, I cannot format my "C" drive and reinstall Windows XP to fix this problem.QUESTION: Does anyone know how to correct this problem without formatting and reinstalling Windows xp?
