Firefox and IE7 display alt text instead of image Working on my friends laptop, her web browsers are displaying the alternate text instead of the image. I attached an image of both IE7 and firefox. I thought this may have been a setting issue, but it is occuring on both browsers. I asked her how long its been this way, she stated "for as long as i have been using this computer" The main photos are displayed, its the image tags, see the photos below for a better understanding of the problem.I have done the usual, scan for viruses and spam. Resetting all settings on the browsers,no clue at the moment.
All my text/font display settings seem to have changed. I downloaded a freeware program today called avi2dvd, to convert avi video files to iso files for burning to DVD. I tried it out, got frustrated with it, and uninstalled it. After I uninstalled it, I went to check my email. That's when I first noticed that all the text in my yahoo email account had changed - it seemed smaller, like it was at a lower resolution.
I clicked on a few more pages and it was the same for all of them - the text was just not as...smooth. Not as readable. And definitely smaller. It's not just a font size thing, I'm not that much of a newbie, I tried enlarging the font and it's definitely a resolution thing, not just a font or size issue. Then I tried out some other programs, and found out that the problem was system-wide. I use a writing program called Final Draft, and the text in that is also less readable.I found one program that hadn't been affected: IE all my web pages display fine in Explorer.
I am having difficulty with text diplaying in bizarre fashion. The machine is a Dell Optiplex tower operating Windows XP Pro. When I am in an application or browsing web pages and choose one of the dropdown boxes, the box drops down and shows the outside lines of the box. Then when you swipe your cursor over the dropdown it will display the text that is invisible. All that I have to do to show the text is pass the cursor over the area. If I do not swipe the are with the cursor the text will be there, I assume, but never display.Has anyone encountered this issue before.
I have a new computer! (yippee!) which has Windows XP on it! I cannot see the size of the text (too small) in either XP or the web (on the screen) can anyone please tell me how I can make it appear bigger?
i cant get internet explorer or firefox to display webpages. The wierd thing is, I can get google earth to work, I can sign into yahoo messenger, but I can't open IE because it says "page cannot be displayed. Ive tried everything from configuring my network, unplugging the cable modem for a minute then plugging it back in, I scanned my comp for viruses, nothing is working and I cant figure out the problem, the internet connections says im connected to the internet too
I was running a program called "Virtual DJ", and it's a dj program, that turns the resolution to full screen, but while the app was in the process of going to full screen, my pc froze due to a lot of programs I had running, so now, the resolution on my computer is not how it normal should be, meaning, its not crisp like it was before, I mean at a first glance, most wouldnt notice anything, but if you look close, you can tell the text and icons are slighty stretched and blurry, so im going to post a screenshot of this page,so comapare this picture with yours, and look closly.I tried a system restore, but that dosnt even work(different issue)I think ti has to be a problem with the video card? Is there a way i could completly restor all display settings to factory...
when I am using my computer, some of the buttons don't appear. The names of icons aren't there. One day my wife was working on a word document, and some of the text disappeared. When she scrolled down, then back up, some of it was back. The text was there, we just couldn't see it because of the display being weird. Dual core 3.4ghz Dell, 2gb RAM. Fairly new machine, XP pro.
whenever I run a fullscreen program for example a game, or go into standby mode and then resume to my desktop the icons, the windows and text etc are all quite blurred and not so crisp anymore. I had recently bought my laptop which is a Compaq Presario C793VU Notebook PC and it had Vista on it but I don't really like Vista so I downgraded to XP and installed most of the drivers that I could find. I would take screenshots of before standby/fullscreen and after except when I did both the images looked the same. After I restart/turn off my computer the display is fine until I stanby or play a game.
I was in a program that ran a 1280X1024 4XAaliasing 32 bit color and I was also watching a movie from netflix in the background(talk about multitasking). My normal desktop settings are 1024X768 16 bit color. I switched to view a nice scene in the movie to the movie and then switched back to the program. Problem was when I switched to the program the computer sort of pinged 3 times quickly and then reset. Now in various odd places instead of text I see odd shapes like empty white or black squares, circles, lines or triangles/arrows. It's sort of like wingdings characthers or like characthers that the computer doesn't recognize. Immediately after the restart I switched the DPI in display setting from like 95-96 to 120DPI.
Both Firefox and Internet Explorer are not displaying correctly. Background images do not appear at all, and some foreground images simply do not load - they don't appear at all, even as an indication that loading the image has failed. Oddly, though, there's still a blank space the size of the picture in most cases. However, there's no way to select the picture or the area where the picture would be.
some sites with style-related features do not display correctly - web-based email and forums with borders, for example (Gmail is for all intents and purposes in black and white). Internet Explorer takes the problem a step further - it increases the text size to ludicrous proportions, so that even a small chunk of text takes up several pages. I have also noticed a similar problem in semi-online programs - using McAfee VirusScan, for example (which updates through a web service) results in text that is simply too large to fit into the window, rendering the program unusable.
Background being dark, therefore, we are not able to view the game / images in the game.... this happened after my son did a (alt-tab) between WOW and a background program - when WOW was brought back up the screen darkened..... we have not been able to brighten the monitor screen since that incident and it is becoming a pain since we can no longer view online or computer images probably due to a darkness that over shadows everything.
How do you enable image pictures to display on the left-hand side of Favorites links instead of the blue "e" image that represents Internet Explorer? When I go to Favorites sometimes I have little images display at the beginning of the link title name. Maybe they are bitmap images that obviously came from the various linked websites. Sometimes I have them and sometimes they don't display. I believe whenever I cleanup my PC (removing Temp files, Cookies, Defraq, etc.) they go away for a while. Then all of a sudden I find that many of the images are displayed. Some never have images...I assume because an image if not available from the linked website.Same thing happens with the Google Toolbar dropdown boxes (for CNN, Google News, FOX News, MSNBC, etc.). Right now my Google News dropdown box (on my Google Toolbar) displays images of the current news articles, however the other dropdown boxes for CNN, etc. are missing the images (no red "X", just no images where they are supposed to be).
when I open my Display Properties and move to the Desktop tab and choose Browse to choose a picture to set as my background, after I have selected Open and the box closes, the Apply button is unavailable and the image I chose does not appear in my list or in the preview. I've also taken notice that certain images that were once in the list of available backgrounds images, such as Ascent, Autumn and Azul no longer appear to be available. Right clicking on an image and choosing Set as desktop background does not work, and neither does choosing the same option from the Picture Tasks. Does anybody have any idea what has happened and how I can restore whatever settings I may have changed without applying a system restore?
I keep having applications hang when I try to search for image files. Apps that are hanging include Windows Explorer, Outlook Express, Adobe Photoshop, and Quark XPress. I've gotten the Dr. Watson debugger message whenever Explorer hangs. The applications hang as soon as I select the folder where my images are stored. It's not all folders, only some, and it seems to randomly pick when it will or will not work. I have tried rebooting and it seems to work sometimes, but then other times I reboot and have display issues, such as fonts not being recognized and email messages shown all in italics. As a workaround, I have rebooted and been able to go to Explorer, and drag a file to the desktop. Then it seems to be fine when I access from the desktop.
if my windows is up for more than 2-5 days and i`m doing a lot of work on it like extracting files and playin games a lot w/ that uptime it reaches a point where my icons wont be displayed properly , and my computer wont open up properly as well some times the windows is total invisible ! its like windows is unable to create image display of windows and icons
I downloaded photoshop, and when I tried to install it, it says I have to be an admin. So, I logged off this account and signed in as Administrator, so when I tried to click Mozilla Firefox, it doesn't work. All it did was it came out with this : " Windows cannot find C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, then click search"
I have set my default browser as FireFox. So the html files show the Firefox symbol. They should automatically open in Firefox. But this does not happen. When I click on the file nothing used to happen.Suddenly now it opens with IE.When I right click and click open with FireFox nothing happens.
I want to know if there is possible to put a specific text over the desktop and when the user change the wallpaper the text continues appearing at the same position (basically I want to do it on Windows XP).People says that an image worth more than thousands of words... Ok this is a screenshot of what I want to do
I am trying to create a full HD image of my Dell c800 Laptop using Drive Image 7 (circa 2003) to an USB HD. I have tried twice and received failures about my HD having bad sectors OR locked sectors. I ran check disc with repair and did not find any problems. Re-ran check disc from the boot disc that came with the application and found no problems with the disc. Tried again for a backup and received the same error. I am thinking it is one of the programs I have loaded has a locked sector or one of my processes that loads during boot is the problem?
So two days ago my computer suddenly decides that when I arrive back home it would want to start running like a win 95. Thus, I promted to shut it down. Once it arrived to the loading screen after the reboot nothing occurred. I then decided to wait... 30mins later it goes black and then the message arrives: "Winlogon.exe-Badimage The Application or DLL C:/Windows/System32/sfc.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation disk settings." I have alot of stuff on my computer I need for work, is the only option to deleted everything and re add XP?
I have problems if I try and run the display settings above 800x600. I was wondering if this would be fixed if I upgrade the firmware settings and if so where would I get these upgrades? Whenever I try and run it at a higher display setting all I get is a thing saying "Signal isnt compatible with this display setting".
While playing a game I hit some buttons on accident and the display shrunk. Now the monsters are small, and so is everything else outside of the game I have no idea what I did, I checked the Screen Resolution and it seems fine, and I also checked my monitor settings, which is fine.
The monitor started showing graphic distortion. I ordered a new monitor but had the same distortion on it. I updated the ATI drivers but it did not solve the problem. In trying to trouble shoot the problem following directions on the ATI website, I changed all the graphic settings to the lowest and slowest available. This got rid of the distortion but the settings need to go! Now I cannot open the display settings.
My XP is currently defaulted on it's display settings 640v by 480 pixels and will not allow me to change it. In fact, there is nothing to change it to. I dont know what file I must of deleted, but is there anyway I can download the driver or something to make it so that it can be set on opitions that are higher?
my mom installed a virus the other day on accident. (Some program called Dr. Spy Shreddar, or something like that.) I deleted it, but some stuff was weird with the computer. I tried restarting the system to get the old configuration back, but the virus just installed itself again. I removed it again, using instructions from Systematic Antivirus and now it's really gone. Some of the settings were still weird though. So after hours of searching the help topics on Microsoft I managed to fix 1 & 1/2 of the problems I had/have.
For one of the problems they made me go into the registry and set something to the value of 0 in order to get the desktop tab back in the Display Properties box. (You know when you right click on the desktop and select properties.) That's all fine and dandy, but here's the other 1/2 of my problem: I can't access some of the features in the tab. (I have Windows XP Professional, by the way.) I can't click inside of the background list and it's shaded a sort of brownish beige color. I also can't browse and do anything with the position setting. I can however access the customize desktop and color features
I was installing security cables for the computer stations. when I finished and rebooted the computers(had to disconnect power and other cords to run the security cables) one of them had a display problem.
it seems that the display area has been reduced. the functional area of the screen is maybe 60% of what it should be. in this area it is complete with the full desktop able to be accessed and nothing is missing. but the right 20% of the screen is solid black (cursor stops at the boundary) and the bottom 20% of the screen(that's not black) is displaying a second image of the top 20% of my desktop. (cursor also stops at this boundary.)
