Repair / When Booted On Xp, The Blue Screen Appeared
Oct 18, 2006
I have Windows XP Pro SP2 installed and I messed it up.I tried doing loads of stuff and I had to repair the master boot record and boot.ini file. Then when I booted on xp, the blue screen appared.I checked my hardware and did loads of tests but didn't find much problems and I if I did, I didn't understand them. For example I had test problems with my parallel ports and serial ports and the System Stress Test failed in RAM Memory.Anyway, I desided to use the repair installation on my CD Windows XP Pro SP1. But each time it arrived at "installing hardware", it failed and just stoped. tried a few times but it kept stoping. And now the repair doesn't even start... all I see is the mouse.
I need major help. First please bear in mind that this ole lady is like a kindergartner in the school of computers.I've been getting booted off usually a "windows has encountered a problem, and needs to shut down to prevent damage to your computer" screen comes up......but not always.lso, I'll get booted off and a blue screen comes on with message. When this happens, I push the button to restart and it'll come back on, but sometimes I'll hear clicking sounds and the blue screen will come back. It also will just lock up occasionally.
PC running XP media edt. Once turned on I get The following file is missing or corrupt windowssystem32configsystem.This happens even in safe mode. Then tried to do a repair with the system discs as soon a s I get to the recovery console ans type the Windows version to repair I get the dreaded blue screen with message Stop error 0x00000043 0XC35C6000 0X00000000 0X00000000. So I can't boot into windows nor do a repair. I@ve tested the memory.
I have an XP Pro computer with SP1a. The computer started resetting itself after a blue STOP screen that flashed on for a fraction of a second shortly after the XP Professional startup screen. Since I couldn't persuade it to go into safe mode (or any mode), I tried a repair from installation CD. After about 20 minutes in the Installing Drivers section of the install it gives a STOP error saying that the CDR4_XP.SYS driver may be corrupt, and the error Page Fault in Nonpaged Area. It then does a memory dump and restarts with a Chkdsk and resumes installing drivers again. After a further 20 minutes the whole saga repeats itself. I have gone into the recovery console and get a warning message System Registry does not appear to have an active ControlSet key. I can then put in the Admin password and get into the console.
pop up saying that avg needed to update, it gave me the option to postpone it so i did; it told me it would be done when the computer was shut down. today monday, i turned the computer on and all i had was a blue screen...the only way to access the computer was through the debugger mode, after several things I decided to repair my windows xp... and foolishly did not make backups of my data. During the XP repair the intallation was not completed when a new blue screened popped up saying a different message.BAD POOL CALLER and STOP: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000cd4,0x00340045,0xe1d4de7c)
I was having some problems with windows xp media centre 2005 on my dell dimension 9150 so i decided to do a repair, i put in the xp cd and booted from it at start up, then the blue screen appears and the process starts, i then get the choice to install windows or repair using the recovery console, i chose install windows and then pressed r for repair on the os that was already there. It now has gone to the installation off the os where it installs the files and finalizes the process, it is getting to the third option where it installs devices but it is getting about three quarters of the way and then the driver box pops up saying that microsoft does not athorize the use of the driver would you like to continue but the thing is i cant, my mouse will not move on the screen so i am unable to click continue.
A friend of mine called me to his house to take a look at his gateway. All I know is that it runs Windows XP.He states that AVG antivirus prompted him to restart his computer once the virus definitions update completed. Once he restarted, a blank screen appeared and said, "Invalid Boot Disk, please insert in drive a:"Problem is, there is no disks in any drive.
Not sure what brought this on but today when I did a reboot to get reconnected to my network, the f8 boot option screen appeared. I selected 'normal' which failed ending back at the boot option screen. However, I can boot in safe mode (or safe with networking). I have tried eliminating things by using msconfig but I have not had any luck. One clue may be that while booting, the MS logo screen appears as normal for about 15 seconds and then I see a blue screen flash just for an instant. I have only managed to read the word 'detected' on it. System immedietly goes to blank screen and does a hdw boot. Boot never gets to the GUI interface. Is there some way to stop the system when an error is detected or a way to log errors? Am I correct in assuming that a hardware problem is not too likely if system runs in safe mode?
i just booted my pc, went regularly until it was launched and the desktop was loaded. Everything was running slowly, i press ctrl - alt - delete and wait 5 minutes for it to eventually come up, i then went to the processes tab and find that svchost.exe is running at 99% CPU I usually end process on that svchost, but then i cant connect to certain servers, and sometimes my sound drivers disappear also(not 100% sure, but this seems to be connected
I need some links to some sites that will provide information and also fixes for blue screen errors in Win NT/2000/XP. I will be using them on my website, which in turn will be used at my workplace. Thanks for any help that you can offer.
I am having problems with a new install of windows XP pro on a fresh HD/new computer. The systemboots OK from the CD and the O/S formatted the HD (137 gig only but I know this problem can be fixed with SP1...)and installed XP, but at the first re-boot (before the XP GUI setup) it would not boot from the HD and re-booted from the CD. i have been round this loop 3 or 4 times already with no luck - I've tried every configuration of Booting in BIOS setup. I tried XP recovery console but could find any way to fix this.
When I booted up the pc this morning a blue scree came up that I had never seen before. It took a long time for it to scan. It said I had a couple of viruses but didn't give me any way to fix them.
My Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000). I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.
I started getting BSOD when powering on. So I put in my XP disk and used Startup / Repair. It completed more or less successfully. However, when I boot up I get the Windows XP Home loading screen, the 3 green dots pass by 3-5 times, then freeze. I can get in via Safe Mode, and my apps seem to run OK.
I have my friends laptop which after sorting malware problems and it working fine for 2 weeks it then would not allow him to get passed the Win XP Home Edition startup screen (where the scroll bar goes across the screen). I understand after reading some of the previous threads that loading up the boot disk and doing a repair may help; I want to give this a go but I do not have my friends boot up disk and he has gone on holiday however I do have an old Evaluation version of Win XP and Win XP Pro SP2, does anyone know if I can do the repair with one of these disks?
i reinstalled it windows that is,and i still get booted off, well quest that is who my modem is thru thinks that maybe my modem is old, well i have installed more memory and i am wondering if that is the problem? i get the window (blue window of death) it tells me that if i have installed any new hardware to remove it or to update the bios. well i tried the bios update and it dosent seem to want to work, i dont have insurance on this anymore and ineed help, i had people helping me from dell forum and they are the one that told me to reinstall windows and i did and it still is giving me the same old send error messeage i am so tired of this the comp. is only 5 yrs old its a pc and my daughter has a latatude and it is 8 yrs old and it never boots her off, i hate it when it just shuts down and tell me to update bios i tried and other wise i have no clue how. a tech is coming out next week to put in a new modem but i really dont think its that i need help very bad please and i cant ever find my way back here to see what people say, i have IE8 and yes i have tried firefox it is worse, also opera and all the others the problem is i like to play msn games spades. and i need to be on the browser IE i wonder if i should delete ie8 and turn of avast then reinstall IE8 and then turn on my avast again? help please going nuts here
so every time i boot the computer i get that good ol' blue screen of death right where windows should open to my desktop.. instead it says "welcome" with the light blue background.. the screen goes black and then comes back with the blue screen.. the message on the screen says:
stop: 0x0000007a (0xe16dac70, 0xc0000185, 0xbf985c66, 0x20e18860) win32k.sys - address bf985c66 base at bf800000, datestamp 41107f7a
beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............
When I start up my laptop, the screen immediatly says Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configsystem.You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. The deal is I dont have the cd. IF someone could tell me how to get an xp cd (without buying) that'd be great. I've looked in alot of websites about how to solve this problem but I can't find any solution to the problem without the cd. I can't bypass it by doing any of the F8 options. If it helps, I can access the Calpera DR DOS program.
Using windows xp media center edition service pack 2 Really need help. My sister called me to fix her computer today, i took a look and found that the sound card wasnt installed so i reinstalled it. Every thing was find, i decided to show her how to restore her system (using windows restore). Incase anything went wrong again (most things that go wrong on her computer are her fault). When i did the system restore the computer boot up to a screen saying.Windows Could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:System32driverssapnp.sys You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the orignal setup CD-ROM.Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.
My mainboard is an Asrock AOD790GX/128MI am trying to set up a fresh install of windows XP pro SP3 on a single hard drive.I don’t want the RAID feature just the AHCI.I have set OnChip “SATA Operation Mode” option to AHCI and connected my HD to the SATA1 port and my DVD drive to SATA4 port.I have made a floppy disc with the AHCI driver “AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller- x86 platform” for xp from the included mainboard CD. The only driver present although I don’t need RAID I have booted my computer with my windows XP CD in. Then pressed F6 when prompted. I then put my floppy disc in with the driver on and press "S" I then select "AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller-x86 platform" and press enter.
I saw another thread on this issue, but it didn't quite fit, so I thought I'd get others opinions. This computer was built for me by a non-major vendor. I consider myself semi-computer literate, and feel comfortable with most work required inside my case. Let me start by saying that this issue happens most often when I've woken my computer up from sleep mode. I have made no major changes to the hardware or software recently. What I did do was move the computer, rather gently, 2100 miles to my new home in a new city. The PC is under warentee, but the original vendor is rather far away. I also noticed that the first time I booted the computer after the move, the computer made a funny noise. It sounded like something (either a fan of the HD) was spinning improperly. I immediately powered down my system and rebooted, and have not had the noise since.

Begining dump physical memory Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance. I've also noticed that on the boot screen, my PC no longer seems to be doing a memory test, or showing my 3 gigs of memory. In windows, it appears the system sees the memory, but the memory test seems absent on boot. I have no problems, so far, running resource heavy programs. This seems, like I've said, to happen only when I sleep then wake up my PC. Rebooting from this screen will cause the PC to reboot itself constantly, but turning the PC off and rebooting seems to give me no errors, again, until I sleep it.
My comp is acting weird so i decided to either repair windows or reinstall windows, but after it says press any key to boot from cd, and i press a key, i get a blank screen or it loads windows.
When a virus problem was found, my friend eliminated a file when Norton advised him to do so . After deleting the file he now receives the below error message each time the computer is booted. crogra~1softwar~1soproc.exe
I have just installed some anti virus software and during installation I got messages saying my registry had been damaged and i should log onto such-and-such site to download repair software and run it on my system. I am suspicious that if I do this I am exposing myself to total destruction. One of the messages has just popped up again and the site it directs me to is FixReg32.com.
Problems started was when i updated my Zone Alarm firewall, windows works absolutely fine no problems what so ever, then next time i reboot it does the same, this time problems are non-stop until about 10% then fine from there on in, then when it finishes repairing the drive it gets stuck at repairing unreadable security descriptions date stream.
It also said whilst recovering orphaned files insufficient disk space to recover lost files. It stopped for a while then carried on. After scan disk it restarted and wouldn't load windows, just got stuck on windows loading screen forever, eventually 15+ minutes i pressed reset as there was no disk activity.
First I'll describe what I intended to do, followed by me explaining my problems, and ended with my actual question.Intentions:Fixing my Master boot record file with a FIXMBR and removing my Ubuntu installation due to lack of usage, amongst things. Merging the old Linux partitions space with one of my current NTFS partitions for the extra space (all above-mentioned partitions are on the same HDD, for the record). Would've done this with Partition Magic.
My laptop has started to freeze at times, then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.
when I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
I have a celeron/p4 machine with 256 RAM and 160 G Hard Disk. Well i installed a service pack 2 for xp. After installing my screen freezed so i restarted the pc and I got a blue screen. What can i do please?
When i turn on,first Windows screen appears, then a blue screen blinks, then hp screen, then a blank page with cursor on the top left, then a screen with the message"we apologise for the inconvinience but Windows did not start successfully.there was a hardware or software problem.I tried to run it in Safe mode, Windows normally, last known configuration but no luck......Then someone suggested to Get into the Recovery Console by making a Recovery CD with ISO image but the machine is not responding to any of it.Is it with CD/DVD ROM drive or any major hardware problem???...I ran a self hard drive test and it seemed fine
