I have heard that there is a patch to change your windows product key. I can not find it on Microsoft's website, does anyone know how to change the product key windows xp pro runs off of???

1) Go to www.microsoft.com
2.) Individually select the product to update or patch to install (I.E my hypothetical OE 6 question) than download and install the patch?
IS EVERYONE RUNNING XP GOING TO BE PROMPTED WITH SOME MESSAGE SAYING: "ATTENTION: SP-2 IS REQUIRED FOR ALL XP UPDATES." OR, DOES THIS SP-2 MANDATORY APPLY ONLY TO RUNNING WINDOWS UPDATE OR AUTOMATIC UPDATE, meaning that we can still download individual product enhancments by going to www.microsoft.com and selecting by product or service?
What the 5.1.2600.2827 patch does? If I understood it correctly it changes the system's default tcp ip limit. How does it operate and which benefits does it bring? I have checked the event viewer and found 17- 4226 entries. Last question. Is it safe?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have been reading alot about changin WinXP product key but have had problems with OEM machines. The best way to do it is as followed. Make a search in Windows/System32 folder for WPA. You should come up with a few files. Now you want to cut/paste the next two files to a new folder: wpa.dbl wpabaln.exe
Once these files have been removed from the system32 folder you want to activate your copy by doing the following. Click on Start then Run and enter the following line: %systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a Then click on Activate by phone and hit the Change Product Key. You should now be able to change an OEM Product Key to another one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble changing my product key. when I upgraded from 98 to XP pro,it was with a pirate copy of XPpro CD. However, I very soon saw the error of my ways and legalised my software online by purchasing a licence with which came a new product key. This was all done online and automatically. Now, here's the thing. Due to an old and failing C drive, I have installed a new hard drive with the intention of transfering all of my files over to it before the old one gives up completely and I lose everything.
The problem is, although my existing OS and product key are completely legal, the only system CD I have is my old pirate one which will not load using the legal key.I have loaded it using the old key with the intention of changing it afterwards but, having followed the process to change it, when I run Jelly Bean Keyfinder, it shows the old key.I have also tried a microsoft windows verification and it confirms that it is not a legal licence.The process I used to change the key was: Change the OOBE Timer number in regedit, Run c:windowssystem32oobemsoobe.exe /a and run change product key, reboot and run c:windowssystem32oobemsoobe.exe /a again which tells me that windows is already activated.
i got 50 PC with same Hardware. that means i can't install WINXP (sp2) one by one. so i use N.Ghost to clone then......(windows activated) how do i change the key in this case? i can't disactivate the key in SP2.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSomething went wrong with my version of XP on one of my hard drives. It boots up asks if I want to start windows normally, then just crashes. Thus, I tried XP on my other hard drive. It boots up then asks me to activate it. I lost my product key, and cannot re-activate it. I cannot load any key-finder programs because I cannot access windows. I am completely clueless as to how to re-activate. I don't believe it's a pirated copy, but it won't let me activate.

As he had no product key sticker anywhere on the computer case I downloaded keyfinder from Download.com it found the product key in seconds. but I tried to register windows but it keeps telling me on the windows registration page that this copy is already registered.He only has six days left to register, what happens if after the six days past he still cannot get a product key.

I'm looking for the SP2 TCP/IP connection patch from a reliable source. I looked around here at TSG and did not really find anything useful, but i do totally suck azz at searching. What i would really like is a patch that only allows like.20 connections instead of 10. I don't need unlimited or 100 connections, for that defeats MS purpose of this.To slow the spread of virus's. But 10 is just a bit too little for myself b/c i keep getting the connection limit errors in my event viewer.

It it is not set to read-only, it is not in my Firefox's browser downloads list, as I applied the setting of auto-clean up downloads, and I removed it from the list. The thing is that it is looking stupid on my desktop. A stupid pointless block iconed execute file. I made a copy of it and renamed it but still I cannot delete it! Once it said there was a problem with the windows installer package. I have Windows XP home. I used to have Service Pack 2 but removed it because of errors I was getting. Since removing it back in November, I have had no more errors. I now only have Service Pack 1. I do, however, still have some Service Pack 2 updates installed. I don't know why it says my system is not compatible with the patch. I did unregister the picture & fax viewer as suggested by Microsoft.

When I clicked the first one, it proceeded to download 100%, register 100% and then went back to the update page. I click "express" and it comes to the above error page again. Continues in this loop. Clicking the second option above brought me through endless useless "help" pages that seem to tell me nothing and offered no real solution.
I applied the 7/13 security patches last night and when manually shutting down this morning, got the blue screen of death. Had to leave for work so not sure what will happen next, but I have had these before with previous security patches.

No I don't want to spend the hours to create my own. I can have a real XP copy thats been slimmed for performance by someone who's sharing it with me - I wont get into how or where for reasons I'm sure are obvious.I have that key and an OEM WinXP Home version but that has no key I dont think and I'd have to extract it and work on it - not ready for all that fuss.Guess the question is: Anyone know where I can get the tools to change my Windows OS key out and slipstream mine in? View 6 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Windows for my sister, who is visually impaired. I just installed Windows XP Pro. Just finished it, and then handed it over to her, to customize her settings. Since she has bad vision, she usually lowers the resolution down to 800x600 and has the font size and title bar sizes larger. Well as soon as I left her alone with her computer, she messed up the windows or icon settings so bad, so everything is HUGE. Everything is so huge, that (what should be) small menus now fill the whole screen. We can't get to the part of the preferences window to change the resolution to something higher, and we can't get to anywhere (that we know of) to change anything back to something resembling normal. Basically, we can't do anything anymore.I know I can reinstall Windows XP all over again, but since I JUST DID THAT I'd like to avoid having to do it all over again. Is there some way to reset the preferences, without having to reinstall the whole operating system for something so seemingly idiotic?
