I have also had a problem receintly when starting up where a box opens that says "DWRCST tray icon encountered a problem and must shut down". Also, I am able to log onto my IPS and some websites will open as they should and when clicking on others, a page opens that says Internet Explorer cannot open this page. This also happens when I try to open this website, so I must use another computer to get here.

When I boot normally (not into safe mode), windows can take forever to load due to this. On last boot my clock lost 10 out of 15 minutes uptime and I had to manually power off even then. I am running Windows XP Service pack 2 on a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ system with 1214 mb mem 150 gig hdd.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use CCleaner everyday and it removes all TMP files, which is what I want. However, it also REMOVES the settings I make with "TweakUI" to change "AUTOLOGON", to "LOGON AUTOMATICALLY AT SYSTEM STARTUP", and "VIEW / THUMBNAILS" to "VIEW / DETAILS". Using Google, I have found that these changes are made to a TMP file. When I use CCleaner, it removes the TMP files that have the changes that I want.I have Googled for hours and can not find the answer. I did find mention that the changes I make are saved to "TMP" files and therefore, CCleaner is removing my changes. It mentioned that the REGISTRY could be changed to make my changes permanent, but the site did not tell me how to do it.Can anyone tell me how to modify REGISTRY to make my changes permanent? I want to keep "LOGON AUTOMATICALLY AT SYSTEM STARTUP" and to have all files shown as "DETAILS"

I've been in msconfig and looked at boot.ini but that didn't help

Check that your internet connection is active and your firewall showings are adjusted to allow Photo Show access to the internet." I have tried everything they have suggested, except the last one...MSCONFIG, then to click on start up and look more closely at the software running on your computer that may affect internet access, but I'm afraid to do that, because it might affect my computer's vulnerability.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Pro, sp3. When I got my first external hard drive (HD), I thought it would be a hassle to get windows to see it but it was very easy. I just plugged it in, via USB, and it put a drive letter in Windows Explorer (WE) and I could access it like any other drive. It was easy. My question is: if I get another external HD, can I use it along with my current external HD? That is, can I use the new external HD without unplugging my present external HD.
