I have a problem with my computer. my system is automatically opening a new window like internet explorer, help file, outlook express etc some times it will automatically lock-off and some times automatically prints some keywords like sx,,,dlkdkfkjjyldkk etc in any where only in files but also in url also.i have installed windows 2000. i have checked with the nortron 2005, but there is no virus found.

I've entered my Domain username and password so that everytime when the PC

if there's a power failure and the PC boots up when i'm not there , others

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's not my computer, it's my friend's computer. He is unable to get passed the windows login. We have tried all 3 logins including the administrator and guest accounts. On all of them, it automatically logs back out even before getting to the desktop. Also, booting into safe mode produces a BSOD with stop error message. I'd just reformat it but my friend doesn't want to lose all of his data.

Further, when opening a PDF file from Windows Exploder (pun intended) I have to go the extra step of telling Windows to "open with" Acrobat 6.0 or it will automatically try to open with Picture Manager.

My next step was to download updates from MS windows updates. That is when something odd happened, I clicked on IE icon it opened up and said page could not be loaded (MSN default). I am using a wireless network and can access Windows up date from my HP computer with no problem. On the Gateway I can go to other sights except microsoft.

Problems comes when I restart or bootup when I'm done with the comp. On bootup, it opens up a window saying windows will automatically adjust the screen resolution, and I have no other option other than click
XP Pro, fully up to date SP/patchwise.
The windows explorer address bar is now 'refreshing' every 5 seconds or so.
Very unhelpful, as it wipes out the network location you are trying to enter.
It reverts to the previous address, and auto selects the full text.

I am sure that everyone knows that you can lock your account in XP, blah, blah.But if I am doing something important, I don't want other administrators to be able to log me off!Is there a registry key/local poicy/other solution so that only I can unlock my account when I lock it?

I am half way computer literate, but this one has me. I am hoping someone can tell me where to look. When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. View 6 Replies View RelatedI work as a technician in a number of Primary Schools and I have been asked by some of the schools if there is a way to ensure that Number Lock is switched off on all machines before they log in. I have done a few searches on google but have no results that work.I have tried editing the registry however this only works AFTER they have logged in. Disabling Num Lock at boot in bios doesn't work as windows likes to override this setting.The reason i have been asked for this is that the schools have Laptops which the children use and when they are typing in their usernames they are obviously getting a mixture of numbers and letters in the username field.Does anyone have ANY ideas how i can disable the number lock at boot?
