IF computer is left on long enough there would be 10 new tabs opened. whats teh problem with my computer?

When my computer boots up there are two (2) instances of Windows Explorer opening and I can't figure out where they are started from. They don't show up in any of the Startup folders in the Documents and Settings. Where the heck are they? Can anyone tell me how to find the source so I can turn them off?
In the last few days I've noticed IE is suddenly taking ages to close a tab or window, it seems particularly strange as my computer is only a few months old.I saw that someone else here with a similar problem had been asked for an HJT log as well as an 'uninstall' list from HJT, so *just in case* I'm including both here. (Some terms may appear in Portuguese because I'm living in Portugal at the moment.)
Had diffs yesterday with computer running at snail speed > did ad-aware/norton scans to clean up > now when I minimize any open window, the tab/s just disappear/s to the left of the lower taskbar so they can't be opened easily again. Must be an easy fix for this but after hours of research in MS Help + Google + your existing threads, haven't been able to source a solution. It happened once before but I can't recall how I got it going properly again - that's what age does to the memory!! Now when I have a PC prob & manage to solve it, I note the solution for the future!Would greatly appreciate any suggestions to solve this irritating prob.
I recently put a new hard drive in my computer. Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.
when opening windows xp the screen gets to the windows xp with the little green light going back and forth in the rectangle box. this green light goes back and forth 3 or 4 times then freezes and you cant go further then that.
After installing the latest update from Microsoft, I am receiving Explorer errors whenever I try to open My Documents, C:, ect. I followed the instructions from the topic that is currently stickied, but after rebooting I received the same error.
I read alot of manga that I download from online. Now after extracting it from a .rar file I try to open it to read it. Explorer.exe crashes and gives me and error message.
I need someone to please explain to me how to fix this problem because I just have absolutely no clue how to even start. So whenever I open a video file a small window pops up titled Windows Explorer stating that "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the Inconvenience." When I close that the window from which I opened the video file closes. However the video file stays open and I can watch it just fine. But other times it will also close the video file too.
Internet explorer 6 + recently upgraded to 2000. Simple..click on a link on a web page & it freezes, click right mouse & the link opens however as soon as work with the link its shuts off ie totally. Have re-installed ie6..still does it ..have done the regsvr checks..all ok..still does it.On my add/remove programmes folder there is ie6 + ie Q891781 which i cannot remove ( says invalid INF file)Is this the problem?
I can't get a new IE6 browser window to open up by clicking the "e" on my lower taskbar. When I sign onto the internet via NetZero, their start page opens up sometimes, but usually it doesn't. If it does open, it takes a long time to load and I really can't do anything on that page anyway. I've been having this problem for about 2 weeks now, so over this time I've tried doing restore operation, using several different dates, but nothing has helped. I thought about reinstalling IE6, but that looks to be a problem since IE7 beta is the latest thing, plus I don't know if I might mess up something within XP anyway.
Recently my computer has been opening certain files that are double-clicked very very slowly--2 - 3 minutes, thats right minutes! If I open the file by launching the application then open the file via the Open menu item, all works as expected.I did some investigation and found that this happened to certain file types that were double-clicked from the desktop or from email attachments. This behavior happens from Excel, Word, Project, Access or Internet Explorer shortcuts that are in emails. PowerPoint, Infopath, Publisher and Visio all open normally (2-3 seconds).
Digging further showed that each of the file types that takes minutes to open all have something in the DDE Message field of the Entering Action for Type (File Explorer window, Tools, Folder Options, Select "Doc" file type, Select Advanced, Highlight Open, Select Edit). The file types that open normally don't have anything in this field. This is why I think the behavior is related to DDE.I have tried the "Detect and Repair" option of Office for my troubled apps but this does not have any effect on the problem. I have also tried using msconfig to do a Diagnostic Startup and it have no effect on the problem.
This is probably an easy question to answer but for the life of me I cannot find the setting anywhere to fix it. The question is - Whenever I connect my IPOD to my Windows XP machice, Windows opens a WIndows Explorer window with the contents of the attached drive (IPOD). How do I stop this from happening? Like I said, it is probably a basic setting or regisry change but I can't seem to locate it?
I have a problem with my computer. my system is automatically opening a new window like internet explorer, help file, outlook express etc some times it will automatically lock-off and some times automatically prints some keywords like sx,,,dlkdkfkjjyldkk etc in any where only in files but also in url also.i have installed windows 2000. i have checked with the nortron 2005, but there is no virus found.
Ive got 2 links that i've sent to my desktop. When I click one it opens fine, and when I double click the other, it kills my previous site and opens in that same window.I'm beside myself in trying to find why this is happening. It does not happen on my laptop while using IE6.Just wondering is there some little setting that I am missing?
Whenever i try and click on a program or open anything an error message comes up saying. windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The only thing i can go on is the internet and things on my desktop. I also have a problem as sometimes my computer crashes and a blue screen appears.
Why is it when I open a web site in windows XP sp2, the opened window is too small. Of couse I can expaned it or max it bu twhen I go to another site, the same thing happens. Is there a setting somewhere that enables windows to open web site at max, automatically.
It takes about 15 seconds for me to open a folder in XP Pro SP2. This is on a fast machine. It used to take a second. I've wracked my brains trying to think of what I did to cause this, but I can't think of a thing. Maybe an automatic update?
When ever I open a new internet explorer window from an already maximized IE window, either by clicking a link that opens a new window or by right clicking on a link and specifying open in new window, that window opens in a small window. How can I circumvent this? The icon's properties that opened the original IE window says maximized, so why aren't they all?
I just Installed XP SP2 on a Gateway ESX 500s. The installation seemed to go well, the OS installed all the drivers except the usual (sound and network card). My next step was to download updates from MS windows updates. That is when something odd happened, I clicked on IE icon it opened up and said page could not be loaded (MSN default). I am using a wireless network and can access Windows up date from my HP computer with no problem. On the Gateway I can go to other sights except microsoft.
so whenever i hovered overtop of my "all programs" menu, it would open up but now its not. ever since i downloaded tweakxp. i uninstalled i but i still have to click it to open it
When I open Control panel and then printers, the properties window will not open fully. Part of the info is cut off. There is no maximize button and I can not drag any corners. Reloaded print driver, no help.
Essentially the symptoms are this:1.Opening files through Windows Explorer results in a 20 to 30 second pause before the files open. This happens on local and network drives.2.Executable files or applications open immediately. Also files open immediately from inside the application e.g. from Excel open dialog box.3. In explorer, right-clicking on files results in a 20-30 second delay in bringing up the menu, while with executables the menu comes up immediately.
I have had a long long running windows explorer issue in which i get very frequent crashes of windows explorer when doing any of the following... opening folders, copying files, opening trash, empty trash, search, multiple tasks of any kind with folders - all cause a system freeze which can only be resolved by ending the explorer.exe task and then running a fresh explorer.exe.Can i re-install explorer and its components to ensure its stability ? also should windows explorer be rock solid ? Maybe this is a windows pro issue ?
For some reason, windows explorer has started locking up when I open a folder with many video clips in it (pretty much any folder with more than 50).I have a feeling that this is a codec problem, but I've installed pretty much every codec I can find and I'm still getting the problem.
hope I'm in the right place.... When I log on my home PC (Window XP with Office 2003), I'd like Outlook and Explorer to open automatically, rather than having to select them from the Start menu.
I recently had a problem on my computer where Internet explorer was not working and would'nt open, and no windows based functions that used the explorer interface would work... So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.
