WINDOWS CHANGE CHARACTER - MONITOR LCD LARGE
Apr 28, 2010I HAVE A MONITOR LCD LARGE , BUT THE SINGLE CHARACTER IS SMALL AND NOT WELL SHAPED.
CAN YOU INDICATE HOW TO CHANGE IT IN A BIGGER ONE ?

All Icons / Windows Too Large / Cannot Reset Or Change Preferences To Smaller Size
Jul 10, 2008I reinstalled Windows for my sister, who is visually impaired. I just installed Windows XP Pro. Just finished it, and then handed it over to her, to customize her settings. Since she has bad vision, she usually lowers the resolution down to 800x600 and has the font size and title bar sizes larger. Well as soon as I left her alone with her computer, she messed up the windows or icon settings so bad, so everything is HUGE. Everything is so huge, that (what should be) small menus now fill the whole screen. We can't get to the part of the preferences window to change the resolution to something higher, and we can't get to anywhere (that we know of) to change anything back to something resembling normal. Basically, we can't do anything anymore.I know I can reinstall Windows XP all over again, but since I JUST DID THAT I'd like to avoid having to do it all over again. Is there some way to reset the preferences, without having to reinstall the whole operating system for something so seemingly idiotic?

Sep 9, 2010I have a old Dell computer which I brought a 24" Dell HD monitor. I upgraded it with a new graphics card which has both VGA and HD capability hook-ups. Now we have a new tower to go with exisiting 24" monitor. My problem is I can not get a old standard VGA monitor to work with the old system listed above. When I plug in the the VGA monitor plug in the VGA outlet in the old computer I get no signal to the monitor. What do I need to do with drivers or other wise to get the old computer back to being able to be used with the old VGA monitor?

Jun 17, 2005I have physically turned my LCD monitor 1/4 of a turn clockwise, so what used to be the top is now the right side. The text on the screen is also sideways. the left side of the document is at the top of the screen.
I want to be able to orient the text so I can read it. I've heard that this can be done, but have no idea how to do it?
Monitor Background Colors Change?
Oct 15, 2008The color of the background on my screen has become strange. The white changes to a pale yellowish, light kaki tint for no apparent reason. It happens to both the web pages as well as the folder windows. Sometimes it changes back and forth and other times doesn't change at all. The really wierd part is that pictures and graphics don't show the yellowish tint. I am using W-2000Pro with SP4, Rollup and updates.
My Monitor is an Acer AL1912 LCD and I have had it from new. My Computer is about 3 years old and I have had it from new. It is a 3.2 P4 on an Intel 915gagMobo. Intel replaced this board about 1 year ago.
There has been no abuse to the system, it has very few games on it and I have not added new software lately. I am the only one that uses this computer and it is my home PC. I use AVG 8.0 Free and Spybot. Both are updated. Other than an errant cookie, they have not found anything in the last 3 months. If you need any more information or need to move this to another forum, just ask.

I went to device manager and no monitor was listed not even the Default Monitor. I've looked all over and can't find a clue on how to ungrey the Properties button.

The windows bar thing runs (im running SP2) and then when the actual GUI is about to come up the monitor turns off. The monitor says to check my connections... been there done that. Character Map Not Working With Alt+172 Method
Feb 26, 2007I have been using an XP machine for 3 years now. I have always used the character map to use special characters such as the squared symbol in almost every application that accepts input, i.e, notepad, wordpad, OutLook Xpress and many others. Up until about a week ago, I have not been able to key in the ubiquitous alt+0178 to get the character I want. It comes out as another character or just a bunch of dots. I have not; to he best of my knowledge, changend anything, ans also it is my production machine, so there are no others or kids on it at all. However, I am able to open character map and selcet, copy and paste it into my document. Way too many steps obviously.

Jul 26, 2005When Windows adds a new monitor using the standard driver, can it detect the aspect ratio? When I hooked up mine, all the resolution choice were for 4:3 monitors. There were no widescreen options. It should choose the monitor's native resolution on its own if the monitor is an LCD.
