A friend of mine forgot the password for his pst file on outlook 2003... is there any way by which he can get his emails back / recover password for the pst file.would appreciate all your help and support in this matter
I recently have begun having problems with my Outlook PST file. This has never occurred before over the many years I have been using the same Outlook file and I believe the problems started happening right around the same time that I put in iTunes onto my PC and started to allow iTunes to sync my Outlook contacts with my iPhone.
My Outlook file still more or less functions normally, but each time I open Outlook I get an error message telling me that the Outlook file was not closed properly the last time it was used and it much be checked for errors. It then does the check, which often it takes 20 minutes while running the check in the background, and each time it finds no errors.
when I start my ms outlook 2007 I get this error. "Errors have been detected in the file 'file_path'. Quit all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool." I tried to scan with scanpst.exe but it went in vain.I tried it with other applications it worked fine. But,the problem is they all are demo versions and I gets back only 5 to 6 mails for more mails i have to buy that applications. Do we have any free tool that can fix my problem or any other way to fix this.
Since Outlook is no longer available, I need an alternative email client. I can't install Windows Live since I'm using XP. I do have Microsoft's Office Outlook, but I can't get it to work. I followed the instructions word for word from Microsoft, but it's just a no-go.When I had Outlook, I would move the emails I wanted to keep in folders I created under the Local Folders. I must have 1 000's of emails backed up. I want to go through them and delete what I don't want/need anymore, but can't because
1. I never got the Import Messages working in Outlook [it keeps telling me that the program is in use and therefore can't import
2. Outlook no longer works anyway and
3. although I downloaded Thunderbird, it won't even put in the folders I created while actually logged into Hotmail [not even the Sent or Junk folders that are there by default], let alone the ones I created in the Local Folder in Outlook.
A lot of the emails I've saved I really need. They're ones sent to me after signing up with a forum or site and have my username and password in them. How can I recover these emails so that I can forward them to an email account so that I can not only view them and copy out all the usernames and passwords, but also so I can delete the ones I no longer need?I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and Outlook Express is 6.00.2900.2180.
I have a problem with XP not retaining the Outlook Express password. I fixed this on my wife's machine a long time ago, but I have a problem with mine. I am running XP Pro, and tried to go through the steps to take care of this, but I can't find the Protected Storage System Provider folder,....It looks like I don't have one, or it's named something else. I do see a couple of what looks like the User Subkey folder names, but I don't want to delete anything I'm not sure of,
i just got my desktop back after a year of sitting (no, i cant afford to buy a new one) and now i cant remember the password to log on. the OS is 2000 NT Pro which was installed JUST before the power supply went out-which is why its been sitting. the friend who installed it chagned my pass and also doesnt remember what it was/is. anyway, from my laptop, i made all the suggested boot discs to recover the password/s BUT it wont boot from anywhere but the standard mode. even when i get into safe mode, the log on box still pops up and asks for a pass. i am NOT compuer inclined at all ( i have to call tech support when i check my email, lol) so please make your replies in very simple, non-technical language. i assume this is the admin pass b/c even using "administrator" and "msg2000" (these are what my friend uses when she re-installs OS)doesnt get me in. is there a way to get into my computer w/o wiping it clean and re-installing the OS?
Outlook 2003 on windows xp asks every now and then(30 MINS or so)my password but does not remember it even if I check the remember me box, if not given it throughs me offline and I can not send or recieve untill I put myself manually online again and then it starts all over again.
I am running on microsoft exchange server(at work)
when i try to repair it, it says i need to enter a password. i've never in my life send it a password for the adminitor (sorry for the spelling). how would i get around the password of the repair? or is there a program to recovery passwords for window's admin? sidenote, i can't start up windows without getting the blue screen of death. but i do in fact have another hard drive with windows.
Everytime I check my email I have to enter my password in OE. I check the box to say save password and the tick stays in the box, but, next time I log on and try and get emails, I have to put in the password.
I don't use Outlook Express for anything and a while back l tried to set up an account but for some reason it failed but being that l don't use it l really didn't care. Now l'm setting up a Brother's copier for scanning and it's all set up except that when l try to e-mail the scan the Outlook Express pops up and for some reason it doesn't except my password or anything.Bottom-line how can l delete it or just get rid of it. I tried everything that l could think of which is not too much.
I downloaded password recovery, burned it to a disc but then this disc will not open in another computer when I am trying to open it from the bios boot screen. My windows log in is stuck on the administrator log in and my password is not working.
I set up a new email account, and checked "Remember Password", but it doesn't remember.
I found a Microsoft article telling me that if my outlook 2000 installation is internet mail only (which apparently it is), I will need to change the registry value for "SMTP Prompt for Password" to 1. This didn't help.
I have recently upgraded from outlook express to outlook 2003.O/E used to ask me for a password for mailbox as soon as i opened the program, which is what i want from outlook 2003.but instead with outlook 2k3 i have to click on send / recieve before it asks for my password.which settings do i need to change?
I was trying to repair a corrupt windowssystem32configsystem file using the recovery console - that did not work. Now, when I use the recovery console I am asked for an administrator password, which of course I do not know. A further complication is that the machine is configured with RAID (striped disks using Intel Matrix), so booting from any kind of recovery disk requires further drivers to be loaded. The ERD password reset tool I am using (not sure of the name but it is Linux based, and free) seems to allow support for RAID, but I can not get it to work (NTFS signature missing). I have tried 'fetching' the drivers from a floppy, but that does not seem to help. So where can I go from here? Are there any other password recovery tools that definitely support Intel Matrix Raid?
I am running win xp pro. I can log onto windows with no problems but I want to run the recovery console in dos. But for some reason my administrator password is saying its invalid. Is there any way to change it in normal mode. Or is the admin password different in dos than in normal mode?
I am getting a message saying this file has reached its limit. I have deleted many files and also emptied the deleted folder. I am still getting tis message and although outlook is telling me I have new messages in my inbox, I cannot see them.
First off, i have a 60gb ide drive for my windows installation (3 other drives for storage), and i got a 150gb Raptor X, which is sata. I cloned the 60gb boot drive onto the raptor, but it didnt boot, and said the HAL was corrupt. My guess would be that the hardware abstraction layer got all defunct when it saw the new sata drive, but was expecting an ide? After all that, i decided to run a chkdsk on the ide drive, and clone it again, to see if it booted. I used the recovery console on a windows xp pro disc, but alas, i couldnt chkdsk because i forgot my admin password. Stupid me.
I looking for a way to make sure my Operation System is working correctly? I have a recovery disc for Windows XP PRO, but it says that it will wipe out all of my upgrades if I use it?Is there a Service Pack 2 Recovery File that I can download to a My desktop, and then burn to a CD?
My outlook is no reading my pst file. It says is has problems and tells me to use the fix tool. Do you know where can I finf it? what's the name of tool file?
I would like to ask if I can recover a file that I accidently wrote over? I have been writing my business plan for 2 weeks and yesterday accidently selected an old file, saved it and loss a great deal of my recent information. Needless to say, I am terribly upset with myself as I had not printed, or hand wrote anything. I've had been saving every 15 minutes on my hard drive and thumb drive, I just didn't realize that I have over-written the most recent file.
Before re-installing the XP operating system on my Dell desktop, a backup of the system (using the Windows System Utilities) was saved to an external hard drive. Then Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 Service Pack 2 was re-installed. The *.bkf on the external hard drive was accidentally deleted. There was a warning that it was too large to go to the Recycle Bin before it was deleted. I want to un-delete and restore this *.bkf or at least get as many of the *.jpg files (digital photos) out of it. Is there some file retrieve program that will deal specifically with .bkf files given that it is so large (many GBs)? One program we tried didn't locate any *.bkf files.
THIS IS ADVERTISED AS A FREE DOWNLOAD AND IT'S SUPPOSED TO RECOVER FILES THAT HAVE BEEN DELETED FOR VARIOUS REASONS. I RECENTLY LOST SOME MUSIC AND PICTURES AND I WOULD LOVE TO RECOVER THEM.
i am here today, on behalf of my poor mother. she has a nightmare job and, to finally push her over the edge... her company's tech people came in to upgrade her computer to '2000' (i am not sure what she meant, windows 2000 or just OFFICE 2000) and THEY told her "oh no, we shouldn't need to back up anything--" ...WELL don't ya just know, they lost the CRITICAL data on her system, whether it was the whole system or out of lotus, etc.! i don't have my hopes up, but can anyone recommend ANY program that might help restore the system or recover just the "office" information? i will be grateful for any suggestions, though it might be better if it's something i can get at like a local national chain (staples, bestbuy, whatever) b/c downloading a program off the internet she might overwrite more of the data, right?
i've recently merged 3 paritions on partition magic 1 of these contained a large amount of data(upto 4gb). well i don't know what went wrong but the partitions are merged but the files are missing. the files arn't deleted but are somehow hidden which is making it really hard for file recovery software to spot. however 1 peice of software can see it, virtuallab: http://www.binarybiz.com/vlab/windows.php.
I moved an inbox file (inbox (2).dbx) from one computer to another. I want Outlook Express on the second computer to open that folder when I click on the the "Inbox" folder in the list of folders, but instead, it creates a new (and empty) inbox.dbx folder rather that opening the inbox (2).dbx file. On the originating computer, the Inbox folder in the list of folders has a path to the inbox (2).dbx file, while on the newer computer, the path is to a non-existent inbox.dbx file (which Outlook Express creates anew each time I open it on the second computer). I would like to be able to change the path of the Inbox folder in Outlook Express on the second computer so that it opens the inbox (2).dbx file and does not create another inbox.dbx instead.
I want this so that I can synchronize my email account between the two computers (without having to change the name of the inbox (2).dbx to inbox.dbx every time. I can find no way to alter the path of the Inbox folder so that it opens the inbox (2).dbx file on the second computer. And if I click on the inbox (2).dbx file and tell Windows to open it in Outlook Express, it opens Outlook Express, but still there is no folder containing the contents of the inbox (2).dbx file visible in Outlook Express! How do I change the pathway so that the Inbox folder in Outlook Express opens the inbox (2).dbx file?
I'm starting up Outlook 2003 for the first time on my son's computer we put a new hard drive into, the old HD is hooked up through USB to an external HD case. When Outlook starts it asks for a location of the .pst file and I direct it to the external HD (F drive) thinking it will automatically import the old 85 meg pst file so we can save all the old emails, contacts etc. Unfortunately what it did was create a new where I directed it deleting the old .pst file completely, AARRGGHH, My question is, is there any way to recover all the lost files? I checked the recycle bin, no luck and am currently doing a search of the (external) F drive looking for the file.
