Outlook - Doesn't Remember Password When Setup New Account
Jan 15, 2009
I set up a new email account, and checked "Remember Password", but it doesn't remember.
I found a Microsoft article telling me that if my outlook 2000 installation is internet mail only (which apparently it is), I will need to change the registry value for "SMTP Prompt for Password" to 1. This didn't help.
I have a PC with Windows XP. It has been sitting in the closet, and now I would like to use the PC. The problem is that I do not remember the user account password.A simple way to reset the user account password?
Outlook 2003 on windows xp asks every now and then(30 MINS or so)my password but does not remember it even if I check the remember me box, if not given it throughs me offline and I can not send or recieve untill I put myself manually online again and then it starts all over again.
I am running on microsoft exchange server(at work)
Is there a way to automate email account setup (Outlook) for Windows XP from workstations? We have users that need access to email at different locations. Currently the first time they logon to a machine we just go there and setup an email account, but it would be really helpful if the account would set itself up tied to the user's logon ID.
Win XP doesn't remember which of my two screens, and where on the screen, to open one particular program (Adobe Camera Raw). It doesn't have problems with any other program, nor do other users of ACR I have communicated with appear to have the same problem. Where does Windows store the information that tells it where to open a particular program? Is there a way to reset this information, or force Windows to remember a particular location? I am assuming this involves tinkering with the registry, but I don't know where in the registry to look.
I have a HP Pavillion a845w, which is running Microsoft XP Home. I am running a program called Ceres (uses internet explorer) and even though I have told windows to remember my username and password, it still pops up everytime and ask for it. This wouldn't bother me too much, but other programs I use off a server which require a login also refuse to work. I have to go into that drive and type in the password before windows allows me to open it. I have reset the password option many times, but still no luck.
When I log into a website the computer is not asking me if I want the computer to remember the password and username so that I don't have to type it again the next time that I visit the same website! The problem is only in IE cause in MSN explorer is still asking me.

What are the most common causes for web sites to NOT remember me (name/password) when told to do so by checking their web form? In IE, I've got "Privacy" set to medium and "Override automatic cookie handling" unchecked. It's a bummer to re-enter that stuff each time.
Ubuntu 7.10 desktop server with Samba server and smb user ina with setup password with "smbpasswd -a ina" and smb user masterdam79 with setup password with "smbpasswd -a masterdam79"

[PROBLEMS SOLVED]
Am now able to access the Samba shares from my Windows Vista machine WITHOUT entering username/password for my Samba user because I made a Samba user equal to my Vista windows user "masterdam79".
I WAS able to select the "Remember my password" checkbox on my Vista machine, first time I logged on into the Ubuntu server and now I never have to type in the credentials again on that machine.
A friend of mine gave me an old Laptop Inspiron 7500. She can not remember her password or user name. We got it to safe mode but it still continues to ask for password/username when windows 2000 loads.
When on any website, I can no longer use the remember name and password feature, nor do some things on webpages appear like they used to. I can't remember what they are called, but to explain, you can see by going to www.greenhills.net on this site, there should be pictures with links to a car dealership, and various other things. The only thing I see on my computer at home is the picture of the company, and the few nderlined links at the bottom of the page and the google search. Nothing to the left or right of the picture. It doesn't matter if I'm using IE or Firefox.I've been through the tools and security all javascripting boxes are checked.
For a long time, I log on to my Windows XP by clicking on 'Default' without any problem. However, today, the computer did not startup smoothly until after running 'system checkup' automatically. Then, when the logon page came, I click 'Default' but it asked for password. I did try some words or left it blank but XP would not let me logon.
I dont know if this is a comcast issue or a windows xp issue.
I type my password in and username at the login prompt on comcast webmail website. I check the box to "remember this password" and when i close Internet explorer and come back, it doesnt remember me.
Ive tried renewing my internet connection, delete all cache + temp files, and clearing my history.
I've reinstalled my computer with Windows XP SP2 instead of Windows 2000.I used to have a "remember username and password" in Windows 2000 that I no longer see.For example, when I now log in into MS Messenger, I need to reenter username and password with each login, and the check box that I used to have in W2K is gone.Another example, is web sites. I have username and password for certain web sites. Now that the check box is gone,I need to reenter the credentiald with each log in.In the new login windows, there is only a drop down list with a user icon next to the username field. But this drop down list is empty.

I have XP Home Ed sp-2. I'm able to setup several limited accounts on this machine. My question is how to setup an account that the user can not be able to access to internet using IE 6. This user is able to logon the computer himself. I only understand that with Comcast High Speed Internet, since a user logon computer he can go straigth to internet.
