I recently had a computer crash, I had to reinstall most everything. I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Professional. Now I have an annoying problem. Everytime I start Windows XP, it attempts to reinstall Internet Explorer 6, which I already have and is working fine. How can I make this stop trying to install this everytime I boot up?
My computer runs great. Now on restart I get internet explorer loading each time automatically. Don't know why. Explorer shows a website that wants me to buy software to help fix computer problems--imagine that.
I've got windows xp internet explorer 7 and it keeps coming up with something called "certificate errors" and won't let me access the site. It usually hasn't been a massive problem except I've just bought an ipod, and the certificate errors won't let me download itunes! So I really need to disable the certificate errors. Following instructions, I've got as far as disabling it, but it says that I need to restart internet explorer for it to take into effect. How do I restart internet explorer? Or is there another easier way to disable the certificate errors?
Have run into a problem. I can't connect to the internet on my desktop computer. Everything was fine untill 3 days ago. Now when I click the 'safely remove hardware' button in the system tray and click on the USB ADSL WAN Adaptor, the computer immediately shuts down and restarts. Also when I went to uninstall the modem software it also shut down.
My cumputer runs Windows XP Service Pack 3. Every day I am invited by Microsoft(automatic update program) to update my browser. After downloading the program it does not install. It is simply impossible.Note that before reinstalling my operational system a couple of months ago, I had Internet Explorer 7 running in my computer without any problems.
I would like to install Internet Explorer 7 beta 2, and it does not work. So I did what they said in troubleshooting (use regmon to find a key that says "access denied" So I did that and found that HKCR/mailto is the problem. So I go into the registry and when I click on it I get an a message saying there was an error opening the key. I try change the permissions, and again I get an error message. Then I even try to delete it (I have a copy from another system to install) and again I get an error message. What can I do to fix this problem?
I've messed up something to do with Internet Explorer. First of all, when I open IE all I get is a blank page. No error message or anything. I try to go to a site and the address bar stays at "http:///". I tried repairing my Windows 2000 installation and it didn't help at all. Now it's reverted back to IE5 and Outlook Express 5. So I tried to reinstall IE6 by downloading the installation file and running it. I get the error message:Error creating process <COCUME~1WILLIA~LOCALS~1TempIXP000.TMPie6wzd.exe/S"Cocuments and SettingsWilliam OverbyDesktopIE6.0 FullIE6SETUP.EXE">. Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.

I have a deskstar 7K250 60 GB HDD hard drive and Im installing into a compaq with a motherboard cr 120 (i know putting big hard drive into that crap) anyway and the other hard drive is a Seagate Medalist 6423. well the desk star was originally partitioned into 2 drives I kinda unpartitioned it and repartitioned it later. Now then with the Seagate in their as the master I can still use the deskstar to store data. however if i try to load XP on the deskstar alone it will get through the dos format and all the way till it restarts.
after it restarts it wont load the os all the cables are connected its been partitioned into 2 drives again (though i dont think that had anything to do with it) although i think its pointless cuz i do get the 1720 SMART error but i hope thats a false sign.cuz when i have the seagate as the master im able to use it for just storing **** but Im just at my wits end and im thinkin of going "office space" on the hard drive plz i need help idk if its not compatible or what. any help would be appreciated.
I keep getting a message when I start my computer that says that windows explorer needs to close i close it and it refreshes my desktop but it appears again for some reason it frezes on me when i try to go to my documents or anywhere else, any solutions on how to stop it from poping up?
when ever i turn on/ restart/ start my laptop after hibernate , the PC just hangs if and only if the internet connection is on. So i have to power down my laptop, switch off internet, restart for normal working.I am able to login into my account, i see the desktop, and then the system freezes. There are no icons in the system tray except time. when i move my cursor over the system tray or taskbar, i get a busy hourglass symbol
My pc is so slow that it takes ages to play a song in wmp11. Ive used tools like ad-aware and registry mechanic, tune up utilities. But still no improvement. It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.
I recently had a problem on my computer where Internet explorer was not working and would'nt open, and no windows based functions that used the explorer interface would work... So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.

I recently put a new hard drive in my computer. Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.
I badly need your support. Day before yesterday (01-Aug-06) night I upgraded the yahoo toolbar and used their norton anti spy to scan. Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.
C:WindowsTemporary Internet Filescontent.ie5, which i cannot seem to do. They say i should see a series of 4 or more random 8 character names like "ADOZMZS1", which again, I cannot figure this out. So if anyone could
I turned off my computer and everything worked fine. I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. They said it could be a win-sock problemI am running Windows XP, Internet Explorer v.6.0.2800.1106 and using Service pack 1.The only thing I can think to do is uninstall my Internet Explorer, download a new version from Microsoft, and install it.I thought a would ask for a second opinion before I before I tried anything.
computer in my possession crashed, and when i reset, my internet has gone wonky. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.
I read that in TOOLS--->Internet options--->Advance, there's a setting that I can make the pulldown manu not be truncated. I can't find it for the life of me.
I am having problems starting both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. Both generate the same error: "Internet (or Windows) Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The details show that ole32.dll is the guilty module. So far I've had no success in locating a solution. I am using Windows XP Home Edition. I should also note that the control panel won't function either since it is basically part of Windows Explorer.
Not sure how that happened or if i have a virus of some sort. I cannot see in IE the file-edit-tools-windows menu at the top of the navagation icons. I have a virus scanner that updates daily, so may be that my grand daughter changed something. How do i restore them back to the way it was?
