My cumputer runs Windows XP Service Pack 3. Every day I am invited by Microsoft(automatic update program) to update my browser. After downloading the program it does not install. It is simply impossible.Note that before reinstalling my operational system a couple of months ago, I had Internet Explorer 7 running in my computer without any problems.

I try to go to a site and the address bar stays at "http:///". I tried repairing my Windows 2000 installation and it didn't help at all. Now it's reverted back to IE5 and Outlook Express 5. So I tried to reinstall IE6 by downloading the installation file and running it. I was going to try it until I was told by a friend that he's had nothing but problems with his computer since he downloaded it.I've read that this IE 7 is a beta version which means that all the bugs haven't been worked out yet? Maybe that might have something to do with my friends computer problems, I don't know.Just wondering what the public response has been about this new version of IE.
I have been under constant debate on whether to download IE7. I have heard of a few bugs running around on it, and am not sure if it will be worth getting.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm runnin XP SP2 and IE7. the problem i'm having is that ever since i moved i have been unable to view sites in Internet Explorer because I keep getting Apache Server at go.microsoft.com Port 8100. I have tried to reset the settings in Internet Options to manufacturers spec but that yielded no results. I can use internet explorer fine on the guest account, however it is indeed..a guest account. The issue isn't such a big deal since i use Firefox anyway, but it is annoying when i rip a CD to my computer and am forbidden to access CDDA for covers, song titles and such.

The browser will display web pages from files on the computer. (Windows XP sr2)I have concluded that this is an IE related problem, since Netscape 7.2 works properly.When I open IE6 with an Internet connection, the title bar indicates that my default homepage is (will be) displayed. So I did what they said in troubleshooting (use regmon to find a key that says "access denied" So I did that and found that HKCR/mailto is the problem. So I go into the registry and when I click on it I get an a message saying there was an error opening the key. I try change the permissions, and again I get an error message. Then I even try to delete it (I have a copy from another system to install) and again I get an error message. What can I do to fix this problem?

The puter just shuts off. I was told that Google chrome is a good internet provider but I can't try because I didn't know that it was going to change what I thought my system was. No data is saved to their servers. I know it's got to be my end. as I have seen others use it (in the classroom) without problems. My connection is stable. and I have DSL. In cases like this I would usually uninstall and then reinstall. I can not lose my past progress as it is saved to their servers. But I cannot uninstall as the setup.exe for the program cannot be found, I have not done a manual uninstall before.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently go tthe new comp and then ran into some errors when downloading off the internet, Files turn corrupt most of the time on IE or Firefox and other times it might want to work, Downloading the install for Winamp is one which will corrupt every time no matter how I try it, check for virus's, spyware, turn everything else off, turn off the firewall and I've done all that and still haven't gotten anything. I've been told I should try and update my bios but I know that could only cause more problems in certain cases, Even when trying the asus auto update it says that it couldn't uncompress it. One of the classic errors is" NSIS error, The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or virus. It may be possible to skip this check using /NCRC command line switch(Not recommended )". As well as say if any torrents that I get bit comet says it's corrupt and ones that work in the regular bittorrent downloader go at trash speeds, router I was on was set up before this so it should still be good. I hope this is enough information, if more is needed I'd be happy to tell you. I also cleaned the regestry and checked for viruses and malware as well as anything else I could think of.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLately when I download any type of file whether it be from the internet or from my Sony Cybershot, I am being denied access to whatever I downloaded. Just downloaded pictures and video from my camera to my computer and I moved all 'video' to a folder I called 'our video'. Now that it is there I cannot access it. Just plainly says, " 'our video' is not accessible, access denied". It is not allowing me to move it to another folder as well.
When I tried to play the video before I was getting the access denied thing, media player was saying that it cannot play that type of file. I have NEVER had an issue with playing ANY pics. or video that came from my camera. This has been going on for a few weeks with every video or picture that I add to my computer. After it is downloaded I can't access it. I am running XP professional.
Have only tried this on XP Pro but it works great. Decreased my login time from 2mins to 15secs. Increased my network speed (ex. 170MB file took 15-20min. Now the same 170MB file takes less than 2mins). WOW!Here it is... Go into your network properties and then into your TCP/IP settings. Add your Server's IP address as Prefered DNS Server. Then select you Advanced button, go into your WINS tab and insert your Server's IP address for your WINS address as well. Reboot the system and you SHOULD see a difference.
