OS is Windows XP. The computer is 6 years old & have never had problems. Recently I'm unable to access internet Explorer. The white page appears and the "connecting" message...and there it stays. View 2 RepliesAfter long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just put together a new computer with a ASUS P5P800 motherboard, 1gb Ram, 200gb hard drive. AMI BIOS, Marvell 88E8001 GB LAN controller (built in NIC) and I am unable to access the Internet. Device manager lists the Network adapter and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. It also hangs whenever I try to use dialup. It dials and hangs. Tested modem in Control panel and I can Query the modem fine. I suspect that it has to do with my BIOS settings, but I cannot figure it out. I am running WinXP Pro, SP1.

I previously had XP Pro on it, but I didn't have the disk or the serial number so I installed a copy of XP home that I had laying around my house. After re-formating the hard drive and installing xp, I am now unable to access the internet.Also the graphics look very poor on my monitor. I am guessing it has something to do with my motherboard. So I went into device manager and there is a ?! next to the following things: ethernet controller, pce device, sm bos controller, unknown device and video controller.I have an ASUS P5L-vm socket 775 motherboard. I tried going on their website and looking up what to install, but I was unable to decifer which one to grab.

Whenever I try to open IE, it will open about 50 times. I cannot access my internet at all. I can log onto messanger and anything else but IE. I have run "sfc /scannow", ad-aware, I am unable to update my mcafee because this laptop was given to me and I dont have access to update it and I cant access the internet, I obviously cannot do an online virus scan, I have just completed a disk cleanup. After downloading the program it does not install. View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm runnin XP SP2 and IE7. the problem i'm having is that ever since i moved i have been unable to view sites in Internet Explorer because I keep getting Apache Server at go.microsoft.com Port 8100. I have tried to reset the settings in Internet Options to manufacturers spec but that yielded no results. I can use internet explorer fine on the guest account, however it is indeed..a guest account. The issue isn't such a big deal since i use Firefox anyway, but it is annoying when i rip a CD to my computer and am forbidden to access CDDA for covers, song titles and such.

The browser will display web pages from files on the computer. (Windows XP sr2)I have concluded that this is an IE related problem, since Netscape 7.2 works properly.When I open IE6 with an Internet connection, the title bar indicates that my default homepage is (will be) displayed. There is no url shown in the address bar and no information displayed in the status bar. The mouse hourglass icon is displayed for as long as the browser is left open.

Works Ok after administrator account has logged on and established link.Our church wants to set up a computer in our library for visitors to use to access the internet. A hard wire connection to the router works with the Visitor Limited Account without the Administrator account being logged on. Running a hard wire CAT5 cable to the library isn�t an option. I thought I may have had a repair utility in Add/Remove programs but IE is not EVEN listed in there NOR OE. View 10 Replies View RelatedI have many problems with my computer, its a dell computer running windows xp.I have internet explorer 7 service pack 2 installed.This just started after I started deleting some programs, trying to get rid of the sonic activation module that kept popping up.Anyway, when I start my computer I get this windows installer poppin up saying preparing to install, this doesnt go away and cant install.Next I go to my email and the delete button wont work,either by checking items off or just pressing delete. This is a charter.net email.Next thing is I lost mozilla so went to install this, pressed on the download button and a window tried to come up but it goes away and cant download programs, this happens on every site I try to download anything.Next problem, anything I try to print will not print using the file print button, or using the right click, print option.next problem is when shutting down computer i get this message: 0xuc91519d referencing memory 0x0008000c, memory could not be read.

I have contacted Dell and my ISP, I have deleted temp files, cache, cookies, etc. I also use Spybot S & D, Ccleaner, Disk Cleanup, and Defrag. None of the above seem to help. I am so frustrated!
