When i install any program into my computer, it restarts for no reason. Anyone know how to fix it???
I'm using Windows XP Sp2 and when I restarted my computer I could not open up any program even windows programs like control panal or even solitaire. The hour glass just shows up on the screen and then goes away without anything opening. I tried a system restore by my computer will not let me restart except a hard restart and then the System restore errors out because of the hard restart. Im not sure if this is a windows problem or a virus problem. I have stopzilla and spy bot as well as adaware.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have windows xp and here lately my computer quits responding. Sometimes when I open a program, my computer will start doing it's thing then all of a sudden it quits and I'll hit my task manager and it says that the programs is not responding. Same thing with my cd rom, I'll put in a disc and my computer acts like it's going to start and then I get the same message. That it's not responding. What is it that makes it do that? And what can I do about it? It's starting to get annoying.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a deskstar 7K250 60 GB HDD hard drive and Im installing into a compaq with a motherboard cr 120 (i know putting big hard drive into that crap) anyway and the other hard drive is a Seagate Medalist 6423. well the desk star was originally partitioned into 2 drives I kinda unpartitioned it and repartitioned it later. Now then with the Seagate in their as the master I can still use the deskstar to store data. however if i try to load XP on the deskstar alone it will get through the dos format and all the way till it restarts.
after it restarts it wont load the os all the cables are connected its been partitioned into 2 drives again (though i dont think that had anything to do with it) although i think its pointless cuz i do get the 1720 SMART error but i hope thats a false sign.cuz when i have the seagate as the master im able to use it for just storing **** but Im just at my wits end and im thinkin of going "office space" on the hard drive plz i need help idk if its not compatible or what. any help would be appreciated.
I use XP Home and would like a simple batch file to automatically restart a program after 5 minutes, but I don't have any knowledge in this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a program from Ebay and after installing it I noticed it didn't have a uninstall. I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.

We have XP running on an AOpen model computer. It's an Intel Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM and a Radeon X700 series video card. We've been having some trouble these past few days with the computer just randomly restarting for no reason. At first my father was having the trouble, but I didn't believe him. So I decided to sit down a little while ago to confirm what he told me.He initially told me the restart happened as he was burning a CD, but then after a restart he burnt like four of them in a row with no difficulty. So then he said it has occured while playing music. So I tested it out, played a song on Windows Media Player, and then tried to play a second one. Boom, instant restart. Now, as I said I was looking elsewhere. I do have the "auto restart" thing disabled, and I do not get a blue screen of death. As for cleaning the computer? Way ahead of you on that one. Prior to me sitting down to test the music thing, I unplugged everything in my computer and opened it up.

View 6 Replies View RelatedTurn on my computer, it takes me to a screen which gives me a number of options like safe mode and start windows normally and a time limit of about 27-30 seconds. Whenever I choose something, whether it be safe mode or to start windows normally, my computer decides to just restart and the whole process repeats over and over again. Does anyone know what the problem is? I've tried connecting and reconnecting the computer, checking for loose wires and even keeping the computer off for a couple of days, nothing seems to work.

My computer crashes and restarts. it will automatically restart itself after around five to fifteen minutes of usage.I think it might be a video card setting or driver problem. ran devmgmt.msc and there is an unknown device under imaging devices.
