I log onto the computer as the administrator, lmadmin (Local Machine Administrator)I add a user to the computer.When i log out, i can log back in as this user.But when i restart the computer, i can no longer log in as this user, and when i log back into lmadmin, the user i created is gone.This has been bothering me for weeks..what's the problem?
View 6 RepliesMy computer has really been running pretty slow at times. It also takes ALOT longer to restart compared to what it use to(<--like maybe approx. 3-4months ago). I know that my hard drive is in pretty decent health & I know my processor isnt going bad. I am pretty sure part of the problem(possibly a very large part) is that I have an aweful lot of processes running (from startup). I do know there are a few startup programs I do want to keep which are: Excite Email Notifier(however I dont need the chat or anything w/it), Winpatrol, AntiVir, & maybe 1or2 others. I have stopped all of the extras that I know arent necessary
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was connected to a domain (work - was an office computer no longer used and sold to me) .. and removed that and when I restarted the computer for it to take effect and when the system came back on my user name and password no longer worked for me to sign into windows. Prior to removing the domain .. user name and password worked fine.
View 6 Replies View Relatedon wake-up from being inactive, the blue screen shows and the system remains at that point for about 2 mintues, then the user logon screen shows. One cannot select a user and logon yet, but after about another minute, the logon screen will show, for example that a given user account has three progams running(which it should). Then the computer runs fine everything works, and it appears to be as snappy as ever. The system: XP SP2, Intel Core 2 Duo with 1GB. 300GB Barracuda drive, 7200, lots of free space. Disk has been defragged and I have run the tools from the Iolo System Mechanic suite.
I run latest ZoneAlarm with spy blocking and antivirus, also run Spysweeper. Windows firewall is on. I also seem to be having sound problems, i.e. none. Another system, older with roughly the same protection, on the network runs fine.
I was leaving to work, so I left the computer in standby. I got home about 7 hours later and when I tried to return to desktop, the fan went on loudly but kept on going and nothing would be displayed on the screen. I just turned it off by the front panel button and went to sleep. This morning, I tried unplugging the whole machine from the electricity plug and replugging it in..well it worked! It started but the fan was constantly working for some reason.I downloaded SpeedFan and at the time the temp was like 43 (normal?). Then I turned it off to see what was wrong with the fan. I opened the box and did a small vacuum just trying to collect the dust.after that NO LUCK.The computer doesn't even come on anymore. I have important files on it.I'm going to be screwed.

It then churns a percentage thing fro 0 to 100% and then I end up on the normal download page which I was on before, I hit "express - recommended" and I get the message "files required.........." again. I have norton anti viru when I turn my computer on it takes forever to start up.I always have to get repair for my Internet connection to work right. When I open outlook express and get my e-mail everything is ok then but when I close I get and error message from msn if this keeps happening restart your computer I don't ever want to restart takes forever to come up. We have XP running on an AOpen model computer. It's an Intel Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM and a Radeon X700 series video card. We've been having some trouble these past few days with the computer just randomly restarting for no reason. At first my father was having the trouble, but I didn't believe him. So I decided to sit down a little while ago to confirm what he told me.He initially told me the restart happened as he was burning a CD, but then after a restart he burnt like four of them in a row with no difficulty. So then he said it has occured while playing music. So I tested it out, played a song on Windows Media Player, and then tried to play a second one. Boom, instant restart.Now, as I said I was looking elsewhere. I do have the "auto restart" thing disabled, and I do not get a blue screen of death. As for cleaning the computer? Way ahead of you on that one. Prior to me sitting down to test the music thing, I unplugged everything in my computer and opened it up.

The hour glass just shows up on the screen and then goes away without anything opening. I tried a system restore by my computer will not let me restart except a hard restart and then the System restore errors out because of the hard restart. Whenever I choose something, whether it be safe mode or to start windows normally, my computer decides to just restart and the whole process repeats over and over again. Does anyone know what the problem is? I've tried connecting and reconnecting the computer, checking for loose wires and even keeping the computer off for a couple of days, nothing seems to work.
