Restart Pc - Change All Icons In My Computer
May 10, 2007why everytime i restart pc i have to change all my icons in My Computer etc from Tiles To Icons. Is there a save somewhere to keep everything on Icons.

Restore Desktop Icons To Default Every Time At Reboot Restart Computer
Jan 13, 2007I'm running Windows XP professional and when I change my desktop icons (my computer, my documents, my network places, recycle bin full and & empty) they revert back to the default settings when I restart my system. This doesn't effect my wallpaper, start menu settings or personalized colors, only the icons. The file that I'm using is an *.ico file which I know works fine. (I've used this file when I was still using windows 98.) I've also tried making a "theme" with the saved settings and that doesn't seem to work either. I'm wondering if it's some simple setting that I'm over looking. Something stupid like "Restore default icons on restart"...I'd rather not edit my registry if I don't have to.

Jul 20, 2009was trying to free up HD space when my icons suddenly changed.. i uninstalled Alienguise ( DesktopX, IconPackager, Theme Manager, and WindowBlinds) then expected the desktop to change.. then with the change of the Desktop .. my icons changed as well.. i was expecting only icons of My Computer, Recycle Bin, My Docs.. Network Places to change.. not the icons of my *.exe's... as u can see on start menu... it changed as well.. can anyone pls help me out... ty btw.. as of now... i already have 7GB + HD space ... on C w/ Windows on it...

Nov 2, 2006I go to appearance tab and change the size of my fonts under the desktop icons. I change the font size to 12. I click apply and it changes the fonts to 12. When I reboot, the fonts go back to the original 7 size. What do you think overrides the change.

Jun 4, 2005I wanted to change icons on my desktop. so i was looking for the function, went into folder options, then to file types tab, I clicked on file folders, then on advanced. Didn't select anything, clicked ok. After that every time I click on a folder it would open in acdsee. So I went back there, couldn't find a setting to readjust it, then added a new command to open folders in explorer. Now each folder I click on opens in a new window.

Sep 2, 2005i feel so stupid having to ask this question when there are so many others on this site with real problems, but here goes, i just bought a new computer running XP, and have no idea how to change the size of the icons on the desktop, i have very few icons on the desktop now, but they are BIG, and cannot find where to go to adjust them.

May 15, 2010Using Outlook 2003 to keep open an email message while I respond to it. Now, the message I received goes away when I hit reply Let me do repetitive tasks by returning to the same folder, same view, same place? have to upload photos to some funky website that allows only one photo at a time. Even though the photos are all in sequence in a folder, for each upload I have drill down into the folder, change the view from the default "list" to the "details" view I need, sort that list by "date" and then select my photo to upload. Windows folder view and folder options has proven unreliable at best or useless, reportedly because I have more than 4,000 folders. I don't think I have that many but it never has worked and my tech support guy for my home office can't get it working Let me colorize or change icons for all folders so that when they are open at the bottom of my screen I can readily distinguish them from the email messages that are open

Jul 10, 2008I reinstalled Windows for my sister, who is visually impaired. I just installed Windows XP Pro. Just finished it, and then handed it over to her, to customize her settings. Since she has bad vision, she usually lowers the resolution down to 800x600 and has the font size and title bar sizes larger. Well as soon as I left her alone with her computer, she messed up the windows or icon settings so bad, so everything is HUGE. Everything is so huge, that (what should be) small menus now fill the whole screen. We can't get to the part of the preferences window to change the resolution to something higher, and we can't get to anywhere (that we know of) to change anything back to something resembling normal. Basically, we can't do anything anymore.I know I can reinstall Windows XP all over again, but since I JUST DID THAT I'd like to avoid having to do it all over again. Is there some way to reset the preferences, without having to reinstall the whole operating system for something so seemingly idiotic?

I have norton anti viru when I turn my computer on it takes forever to start up.I always have to get repair for my Internet connection to work right.
