I have Windows XP SP2. Somehow Ultimate defender has claimed my system.I have scanned it housecall and stinger and regular micro trend full scan. They have not removed it. I then used combofix, it seemed to help, but I don't think it's all the way off. I see explorer.exe goes to 99% in the tak manager. When I bring up a ie browser, it tries to go to the ultimate defender page. I looked in the registry, I don't see any "ultimate" settings. Here is a hijackthis report after the combofix run.
Quite some time ago I ran windows defender and it removed my CD burner and my photo and imagine gallery where I could change the size of pictures and other things. I un installed windows defender before I realized they were gone. Anyway to get them back without doing a system recovery?
I downloaded windows defender (beta 2) which downloaded ok but when I go to install it , it says it cant be installed, I have a windows xp. I aslo need a good free spam site. What do you recommend. I have a Nor ton antivirus which does everything but I still get lots of spam.
I have Defender Pro 10-1 on my computer. The Virus protection part of the program expired in just a few months and I don't want to pay more to have a new key, I paid enough already. I was trying to install Norton and it says it cannot install because Defender Pro is there. I tried to uninstall through add and remove.I tried the uninstall that came with Defender Pro, and tried to go into program files and delete the folder myself. It will not uninstall because it is still running. I have exited everything I know how to exit.
On boot up McAfee says Trojan Found Defender-EV and cannot clean, delete, or quarantine it. The file name is !Update-3595[1].0000 and the path is C:Documents and SettingsOwnerLocal SetttingsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5HV3JT9OE. I have scanned the box with Ad-Aware, Spybot, and used Windows Defender. I am running XP Home SP with pop up blocker enabled. I have cleared cache, deleted history, emptied recycle bin, etc I turned off system restore which deleted the restore point, then rebooted and turned restore back on. What is bizarre is when I manualy try to browse to the content.IE5 folder it is not under Temporary Internet Files. However there is a Content.IE5 folder under Temp.
I have windows me I have cable hook up my computer is so slow I don't even know where to start. I have norton anti viru when I turn my computer on it takes forever to start up.I always have to get repair for my Internet connection to work right. I recently installed windows defender beta2 on my computer. When I ran it, it showed that I had a medium risk possible hijacker on my computer. I clicked to repair the issue and that's when all hell broke loose. I have lost everything on my computer. I restarted my computer and all I get is my desktop background minus the task bar, start menu and desktop icons. I also lost Internet Explorer. I can can bring up the task manager screen and use that to browse my folders. All of my folders are listed but most of them are empty. I am able to get online but since internet explorer folder is wiped out, I cannot surf the interent. I just get a screen showing that I need to install Internet explorer. I can receive my Juno e-mail account. When I go into DOS and type in tree, it does list all my folders and the items that these folders are suppose to include. This leads me to believe that my data is all in my computer smewhere but I cannot get access to it. I have tried to start the computer in safe mode but it won't allow me to do so. THe screen just flashes on and off.
I have run Spyware Doctor and don't appear to be getting the Ultimate Cleaner messages or the Biohazard "red screen", but I continue to get the Ultimate Defender and Trojan.w32.looksky pop-ups. If I end the "explorer" process, it all quits but I looks my task bar.
XP Pro sp3. installed windows defender yesterday, but when i try to get update, i get that error..I did a forum search here, followed the instruction there in, but still cannot update defender. I can connect to the update site, and download updates, so i know its not a problem with connecting with the microsoft site.
I did a scan with windows defender found nth anybody knows why my personal computer is running slower and slower recently and its starting to have some errors.
I had SP1 in my laptop. So, I updated to SP2 and now XP loading screen shows up and 10 seconds later it goes blank. The machine then proceeds to reboot itself. Also, safe mode does not work.

Just recently, Windows Defender has been displaying an Exclamation Point over it's icon in the system tray. I looked into it and it seems that it wants new definition files.I tried updating the definitions but for some reason it just acts like its trying to update but never does.I'm thinking this may have some thing to do with Windows Genuine Disadvantage.
My computer is restarting constantly. I tried sunning my virus software and it doesnt even work now. i tried and online scanner but it restarted when it started scanning. Now you guys are my last hope T-T.
My computer restarts at random times: Sometimes when I'm playing a game, sometimes when I'm surfing the web, and sometimes right when it has been previously restarted. I haven't a clue what the problem could be.

I run on Windows 2000 professional.Intermittently my computer on its own will restart. The only consistency is that I am online using broadband. For a completely different reason I just reinstalled Windows 2000.
My computer keeps restarting after me being on it for around 5 mintues, sometimes less, sometimes I can go for about 30 minutes before it restarts. I have tried my virus scan and adaware but it will not go through because it restarts constantly. It was missing some file I can not remember what it was. Also the last time it restarted I got these errors. Error Loading Language Resource DLL (na EvtRes.dll) and Runtime Error
We have XP running on an AOpen model computer. It's an Intel Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM and a Radeon X700 series video card. We've been having some trouble these past few days with the computer just randomly restarting for no reason. At first my father was having the trouble, but I didn't believe him. So I decided to sit down a little while ago to confirm what he told me.He initially told me the restart happened as he was burning a CD, but then after a restart he burnt like four of them in a row with no difficulty. So then he said it has occured while playing music. So I tested it out, played a song on Windows Media Player, and then tried to play a second one. Boom, instant restart. Now, as I said I was looking elsewhere. I do have the "auto restart" thing disabled, and I do not get a blue screen of death. As for cleaning the computer? Way ahead of you on that one. Prior to me sitting down to test the music thing, I unplugged everything in my computer and opened it up.
Im haveing multiple problems with my laptop and its pretty bad.First of all the wireless conection breaks all the time and it says that Wireless zero configuration utility needs to be restarted. So i have to go to Run; %SystemRoot%/system32/services.msc s and restart it. But it just goes out again after a few hours.Windows Firewall will not open. It says; "Windows firewall setting cannot be displayed becasue the associated service is not running." I click ok and it says" Windows cannot start the widows firewall/Internet connection sharing (ICS) service.Windows defender cannot update. It says its trying but then fails and it dosnt display the problem long enough to write it down here. My sound is no longer working. Im about to just give up and reformat and re instal everything. Unless anyone thinks i have a hardware problem

it will shut off and restart itself. He claims that this has been happening close to when he received it. We had no real proof of it restarting until last night when he was actually using it and it restarted before his eyes. He is running Windows XP MCE 2005.
I am getting a blue screen when I start my computer and as well as the error message in the title I get the below:*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xFEB74D0, 0xF7B11FC8, OxF7B11CC4
I'm using Windows XP Sp2 and when I restarted my computer I could not open up any program even windows programs like control panal or even solitaire. The hour glass just shows up on the screen and then goes away without anything opening. I tried a system restore by my computer will not let me restart except a hard restart and then the System restore errors out because of the hard restart. Im not sure if this is a windows problem or a virus problem. I have stopzilla and spy bot as well as adaware.
why everytime i restart pc i have to change all my icons in My Computer etc from Tiles To Icons. Is there a save somewhere to keep everything on Icons.
So, i installed SP3 on my computer and it starts to start up fine. . . then BAM Blue Screen flickers for like a second and then the reboot process starts all over and over again. When i hit F8 and tyr and get into safe mode..it load the safe mode stuff..and then RESTARTS again! i cant even get into SAFE MODE! i really don't want to have to reformat
I log onto the computer as the administrator, lmadmin (Local Machine Administrator)I add a user to the computer. When i log out, i can log back in as this user. But when i restart the computer, i can no longer log in as this user, and when i log back into lmadmin, the user i created is gone. This has been bothering me for weeks..what's the problem?
Turn on my computer, it takes me to a screen which gives me a number of options like safe mode and start windows normally and a time limit of about 27-30 seconds. Whenever I choose something, whether it be safe mode or to start windows normally, my computer decides to just restart and the whole process repeats over and over again. Does anyone know what the problem is? I've tried connecting and reconnecting the computer, checking for loose wires and even keeping the computer off for a couple of days, nothing seems to work.
