I have Win XP and am trying to go from a DOS window to full screen. If I hit Alt-Enter, I get an error message saying it can't display that video mode.I downloaded a new driver for my video card, but same problem.
I changed the display settings on my Windows XP computer to the highest resolution and my screen now has the message that it is not able to diplay video at the current setting--or something to that effect. I have turned the computer off and back on again and I have tried to reboot in Safe Mode, but neither works.
I'm using a new Dell Dimension 4700 with a Pentium 4 3 Gig XP Home Edition version 2002 Service Pack 2. Recently Windows update ran automatically and ate my computer! I called Microsoft Support and apparently fixed the problem which was a double installation of video drivers from Dell. (Which made my screen go black with a white statement "Cannot display this video mode".) After we got the silly video thing fixed my Standby option is grayed out and I can't figure out how to get it back
Recently I was playing a game, when my screen froze. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
The problem is the computer keeps losing its video display. Just went black. I reinstall the drivers and restart and the computer runs fine. Use fine, then after its been on for awhile it goes black again. Weird. I have the newest drivers and all the windows updates loaded. It just keeps going out. I have tried several screens as well to rule out the monitor freaking out.
I have disabled my ATI video card and then the one that comes up after that. Now when booting up the log in screen doesnt come on but i can still log in and then still no display when in windows...I think I just need to enable a video card driver but cant see anything on screen so i have no clue on what to do.
i have been recently trying to play counter-strike source, this is what caused me to take a look at this when it would not load. it looks like something may be wrong with my video device
Recently installed an ati 4350 into my dell 8400 so I could play newer games. This card was recomended by dell but I think I could have done better. When I first start the computer I get warning, video card is running in X1 mode. Press F1 to continue or esc to go to BIO's.
The system is a 1.7 Celeron on a MB with ID# P4MXB Win XP Home Edition
Whenever the computer is booting into windows or into windows (within 20 minutes) the video cuts off and goes into something like a standby mode except the only way i can get it to boot back is to reboot computer. If i put a video card in and don't use on board video the computer freezes when i imagine it would normally black out. It never does this in the Bio's.
power option properties is set to enter power save mode and turn off my monitor after 1 minute and my screen saver is set to "none". my monitor will enter power save mode turn off after 1 minute and stay off.however,my monitor won't enter power save mode after i am finished streaming a video on Internet, facebook, or myspace using both ie8 or firefox. also after watching a video with any media player such as wpm, quicktime or vlc media player.fter one minute the monitor switches off for a second and then switches right back on.then if the power scheme settings are re-applyed my monitor will enter power save mode and turn off again
i had was my motherboard cpu fan not working in its cpu fan pin, so instead i have it hooked up to a case fan pin. I am not sure if this means i have a faulty mobo or not.
I installed my brand new Creative sound card, I installed its software and drivers all fine and the PC restarted fine. Next creative wanted to update the drivers and I let it. After it was done installling the new drivers it needed a restart. On restart I could not even get to the post screen and was displayed with an error saying USB over current, PC shutdown in 20 seconds. At first i could not get past this error at all, so i tried taking out the sound card and putting inserting it again. I did not get the USB error now and was happy.
I played Battlefield 2142 for a few hours then shut it down. Now today when i get home from work and turn it on i saw that USB over current error again and got frusterated. After taking the sound card out and putting it back in I had some new problems. I only saw my Asus Splash screen saying "press delete to enter setup" although pressing delete did nothing, it just hung on that screen.
I am having problems with windows and graphics. I recently upgraded my computer to an Athlon 64 3500+ with an Asus (ATI) X300 PCIe graphics card. Since then I have not been able to play DVDs as PowerDVD locks up straight away and WinDVD 5 comes up with the error “Create overlay failed. lower your screen resolution or colour depth & try again. I often experience the graphics card resetting and sometimes failing when playing modern games (Far Cry etc). I thought that the graphics card was not up to
video card on my laptop messed up somehow, i can see a exclamation mark on the device manager in the display drivers tab... now im searching to update my driver but cant find any sources that would suit xp windows now everything is very laggy cuz it shows im not using any video card or something like that anyway?
When I'm trying to start up Windows XP Home Edition I receive an error box without an error message, I can just click YES or NO. Neither option let's me continue. When starting up in Safe Mode, everything works fine.
I am getting an error while trying to install the latest international drivers for my laptop computer Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600) NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 [Display adapter] 3.20 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4, 8 kilobyte primary memory cache 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Whenever I open my video folder, it closes the explorer and says error. It happens with several .avi file. For Example, I have .avi file called A B C; the explorer closes whenever file A is in the folder. When it's out of the folder, the explorer works just fine without closing. I use Matroska pack codec, is this the problem? I remember on the error message says something about the codec is not compatible?
I did a clean install of Xp Home edition with SP2 and current updates and applications. There were no problems until I went to use the DVD playback feature in Nero Suite (Nero Showtime) the program had sound only, no video and after a few minutes it froze. The event log said ''Win XP error hanging App''. Why is this happening?? Is it another one of those Unknown error things with windows Xp?
,when I log on I get the following messageReal Time Run-time error '429:'Active X componantcan't create object ok and Realtime appears in the taskbar and clears when you click ok
I was wondering if people had any suggestions about the following problem I have.I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop (couple of years old now) and it has Windows XP Media Centre Edition installed on it. I has been running perfectly fine all of this time until very recently.I started it up and selected Windows XP on the boot loader (I have dual boot installation with SUSE 10 but I have not used this for at least a year), and noticed something odd. The initial bios screen at the beginning of bootup had vertical stripes down the page over the top of the dell logo. When the windows XP loading logo appears, I get similar striping. After a few seconds the computer halts to the BSOD and gives the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error and halts.I have managed to boot up into windows safe mode, with no problem, and interestingly the vertical stripes are not evident here.Firstly I thought it might be a graphics card issue, so I downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA and installed them in safe mode, however this has not had any effect. After this,
one day I turned on my pc and had no video, thought my on board went bad. Got a video card, didnt work. Decided to try the on board again, worked. Now it said there was a boot error at drive B. I didnt think I had a drive mapped to B.I ran a DOS boot disk and did a fdisk and it said there were no fixed drives, so I figured that it was a bad HD, got a new HD, changed it, still a problem. I have to start out with the DOS disk then I can pop in a Win2K boot disk and tryed to install. Cant find the setup or install file on Boot Disk 1. Wont boot from CD to install 2K.
for some odd reason, the am/pm portion of the time displayed in the task bar, emails, imessengers, etc has changed to "??????" (6 question marks). I can correct using time/regional settings, but it returns upon rebooting. Windows XP Media Center.
10-15 minutes after i have turned my computer on i get a windows error message saying: Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has found and error and closed it.Something like that, i have translated it from danish. I really dont know what it means and how to solve it, but the error cause my sound to stop working and i can only get it back by reinstalling the drivers. The error also sometimes affect my windows display so it looks more like windows 98.
Computer is connected on a router, internet work fine. i just got a second computer today i formated it and installed windows XP pro on it all went fine, i installed lan video card, but when i try to connect its show an error page, the connection say i am connected and all.

when I open some games, the screen is off center and there is a large black bar at the bottom of the screen and the top of the game screen is not visible. When I change the screen resolution or just the resolution or window for the game to run in, it does not make a difference. After searching for a long, long time, I came to the conclusion that perhaps the driver for my video card needs to be updated. I have no idea what my video card is so I was trying to find out.
When I right click the desktop to bring up the Display Properties and click on the Settings tab... when I try to click the Advanced button to bring up the properties for the monitor and video adapter, I get a Windows Error Message that reads:
