Recently I was playing a game, when my screen froze. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
Feel better now, Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)is installed on my computer, I am aware that update (KB930494), is critical and necessary to maintain security integrity within my system yet it will not load regardless of what I do, (disabled all virus protection; spyware protection...etc) and any other installed program that may interfere, still I cannot load this update and only this update. I have a detailed analysis of my system (BeLarc), every KB****** (windows update) is installed per the 08/14/2007 Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary and functioning beautifully except for this one. It will not load and does not give a detailed sheet message either. It simply states that that KB930494 was an unsuccessful update....
i had was my motherboard cpu fan not working in its cpu fan pin, so instead i have it hooked up to a case fan pin. I am not sure if this means i have a faulty mobo or not.
I installed my brand new Creative sound card, I installed its software and drivers all fine and the PC restarted fine. Next creative wanted to update the drivers and I let it. After it was done installling the new drivers it needed a restart. On restart I could not even get to the post screen and was displayed with an error saying USB over current, PC shutdown in 20 seconds. At first i could not get past this error at all, so i tried taking out the sound card and putting inserting it again. I did not get the USB error now and was happy.
I played Battlefield 2142 for a few hours then shut it down. Now today when i get home from work and turn it on i saw that USB over current error again and got frusterated. After taking the sound card out and putting it back in I had some new problems. I only saw my Asus Splash screen saying "press delete to enter setup" although pressing delete did nothing, it just hung on that screen.
i recently have done a reinstall of windows xp but the system cannot seem to be able to find the systems video card drivers and i have checked on the properties under adapters and the whole list says n/a so i have no way of find out what drivers i need to download. I have an emachines 5250 if that is any use.
Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this? Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose. Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.
Computer is connected on a router, internet work fine. i just got a second computer today i formated it and installed windows XP pro on it all went fine, i installed lan video card, but when i try to connect its show an error page, the connection say i am connected and all.
ive a question about a "Generic host process encountered a problem and finally ive decided to format my hd. reinstalled win xp family, and i noticed that neither my sound nor my video card was working and that i couldn t use usb devices that usually work without drivers. i plugged my internet connection (cable) and then ie always crashed. so i did not manage to download windows updates this way. i decided to active auto-updates, and, a few seconds later, ive seen the message: "Generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem".
Im not very computer smart...but i have AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics My guess is i have a good processor and a horrible graphics card...the games i play such as call of duty4 and ship sim 08 realy glitch on my computer so i was thinkin of getting this card called GeForce 8800 GT super+ 1GB video card...is this what i should get..??it costs aobut 200$
I hooked up my Xbox to my PC to play online using my monitor, only to find out that my NVidia Geforce4 Ti 4200 can only display a max resolution of 720x480 through my capture software, and this ain't good enough for me. Does somebody know of any specific card/adapter TV Tuner that has an S Video input and could give me resolution over 1024 pixels under $100.
Every so often, when I start my computer, the graphics controller does not register correctly and my computer loads some default monitor controller and gives this error that's in the Subject heading. The font turns huge and annoying. I've reloaded, updated, deleted, changed, etc. to the graphics controller. Nothing cures it, except, I was able to do a restore and get it to load correctly. Sometimes it would take a couple of times to do this. Right now, it's on it's 5th time and I'm getting annoyed. It's not working. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
I was working away on my desktop tonight, and suddenly the monitor started freaking out. Here is a video to show you what's going on at startup, When it happened I was working in Cubase. I'd just reset the audio driver, and it started doing like in the video. After a little bit, the signal cuts out completely. It's not the monitor, I've checked with a spare and it's the same. I don't have another video card around at the moment, but I'm wondering if it's likely to be an issue with the hardware, or software/virus type stuff. The computer is XP, 2gb ram, nVidia Geforce card (sorry, can't recall which one) etc. Incidentally the card itself looks fine, ie it doesn't look like it's shorted or anything.
when i try to play news clips on msnbc.msn the player appears with the loading message at the bottom. it just sits there, but doesn't load and play the video. i can go to othe sites, ie, Internet, and it plays fine. i know this sounds like a missing codec, but it's hard to believe that ms wouldn't already have that codec loaded to play clips from msn. i can play them on my destop pc, winxp pro, wmp10, without additonal codecs. i upgraded the laptop to wmp11, but that didn't work, so i rolled back to wimp10.
I want to run call of duty 4 on my computer but it says Not sure what to get actually, my computer specs are in the one thing. and since i have such a small computer space is a problem what can i do?
Is there a way I can run iTunes, for instance? I know you can simply install iTunes 4.7.1, then maybe someone can tell me how to turn the .dmg file that the zip releases into an iso that's actually readable by my dvr drive?
a way to use my video card under x64 -- going a step further, the remote that came with it?
I wass just wondering if someone could tell me if I am on the right track or not Power supply went out on the computer Put in a new powersupply and everything comes back on except the monitor. The monitor lite is green at first and then turns to amber and nothing comes on.I tried another monitor and it does the same thing so I am guessing it is the video card.I would not think it would be the cord to the monitor cause that means the other monitor cord would also be bad and the odds are good that that would not be the case So am I on the right track that it would be the video card not getting from the tower to the monitor? It is a built in video card so I would have to get a PCI Video card cause there is no AGP slot.
I bought the game Call of Duty 2 for my son for X-mas and when he tries to play it he gets an error msg that states "Video Card or Driver doesn't support dynamic textures." I now realize that he needs a new video card but I certainly don't want to spend $500 for it for him to be able to play PC games with good graphics. Can someone suggest a lower end video card update (that is compatible with my computer) that I can buy that will enable him to play this game? I don't know a lot about computers but here is the information that I know about this computer:Compaq Presario 5000 Desktop with Windows XP Home Edition Pentium III processor 512MB RAM 847 MHz (I didn't realize this was so little) Intel(r) 82810e DC-133 Systems and Graphics Controller.
I was wondering if any one knew how to help or could shed some light on my monitors problems. It randomly started becoming very wavy and almost blurry and i can barely read what is on the screen, the entire screen is wavy. We bought a new monitor but it did the same thing so we returned it. I'm wondering what could be the problem with my computer.
Currently I have only 16 colors and 800x600 desktop area. NT is using the "Default Monitor" and I did not boot in VGA mode. My video card is AccelGraphics Venus DGX4 Rev 2.1A . I tried to find a driver and what I did find was for Win98. I tried that and it started asking for files - vbrun300.dll and I could find that, then it asked for threed.vbx - is this going to work even if I get all the required files? Is there a NT driver for this video card?
hi, i have a real problem, my video card is disabled so when i load winxp all i get is a black screen, It loads ok i just cant see anything any help apreciated. Thank you
I get a little pop-up message you know. install latest windows xp updates so i'm like. OK i'l just get this over and done with. I turn the computer off let windows do it's thing, turn it back on now I'm getting dots on the screen. They look like little droplets and most of the time they're blue. i get to the windows xp log-in screen now this is the "fun" (annoying/main part). WHENEVER I move my mouse cursor over the account tabs the computer just freeze's then the screen goes black, doesn't do anything after that. So I gave my friend a call who's a computer technician, he said that my video card is blown and that I will have to get a new one. My heart just dropped out of my but there for about 5 minutes. I gave my brother a call and he thinks otherwise. He said to do a system restore but this is another "fun" (annoying/main part). I'm trying to do a system restore on the PC (in safe mode) and it doesn't want to seem to work. First of all there are NO bold dates to choose from which is very strange as I applied a Windows XP update shortly before I did this update that screwed the PC up. And nothing came up, and another even f'd up thing is that I can' choose what months to go from. That little arrow that let's go go to previous months and months after? Click that, doesn't do anything. So I gotta wait for my bro to come back from Canberra for the meantime which should be i n around a weeks time or so. But ugh I can't wait that long i'm gonna die of boredom here. So I am begging all.. of you. from the bottom of my heart, is there ANYTHING absolutely ANYTHING I could do to FIX this? I'm so close to throwing this thing out the window Badluck seems to be coming from all sides at me lately and I really can't put up with this.
How can I tell what video card is installed in my computer? Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban requires: * With the most recent Service Pack. ** Supported video cards: nVidia GeForce 2 or greater ATI Radeon or greater Matrox Parhelia.
I have disabled my ATI video card and then the one that comes up after that. Now when booting up the log in screen doesnt come on but i can still log in and then still no display when in windows...I think I just need to enable a video card driver but cant see anything on screen so i have no clue on what to do.
what graphics card will work best for me for my computer for gaming ?i hae a computer that i bought that was custom built but i know only so much about it ( i did not build it). i have been having trouble playing certain games i have bought with requirements like minimum of intel pent. 2.8 HTor amd athlon 2800+ 768MB / 1G RAM and video req of MIN: nvidia 6800GT (SM3) or ATI x*))XT (SM2) with latest aplicable drivers .
I installed a new video card and when I started the computer up, I have no sound at all. Please help, I have all these games, and no sound! Its a brand new computer system setup for my little brother, and he can't even use it He's all bummed out, and if someone could help it'd be GREAT! The computer is a Gateway - and I looked through BIOS, and didn't see anything about disabling/enabling the onboard sound.
Try removing the card and see if you have the sound back. Se if you have sound with just the video card installed without its drivers. If same issue on Xp, Vista, the most probabily the card is not supported on the computer.Try a clean reinstallation after installing the video card.
My operating system is Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600).My monitor is HP 1502 (15 inches) and my video card GForce Mx4000 ver M 128M DDR Ram.My system does not recognise my video card and monitor although when Windows starts I see the video card. My screen resolution cannot go beyond 800 x 600.I have gone to Control Panel, display, settings, advanced, adapter and it shows:adaptor type properties, vga save,non-plug and play drivers, manufacturer unknown, location unknown,Driver Start up system.
