View 1 Replies View RelatedUntil recently Windows Explorer has shown the title of a CD inserted into either the CD Rewriter or the DVD reader drive on my PC. Since about two weeks ago, XP does not react at all to the insertion of a disk until I click on the relevant drive letter in the left pane of Explorer. It then shows the content of the disk but still does not show the disk title info. In addition Autorun no longer operates even though it is enabled.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open Windows file explorer, for my .mp3 files, I cannot get track title, number, artist, etc. It only displays file name, size, type, date created and date modified. When I right click on the file and select properties, summary, advanced, the information is not there either. This only happened in the last month or so because before I did get this missing track info for the same files on the same disk using the same Windows file explorer.

When I close that, I get a Windows Explorer error message that says "Windows Explorer needs to close". I'm thinking maybe there is a problem in the registry but don't know exactly how to go about fixing it.

You know when you are in Windows Explorer and click on one of your folders, you can see (at a glance) at the bottom how many files are contained therein? I have reloaded Windows and now cannot see this info anymore. I have looked in Tools, Folder Options, etc but it hasn't helped me. Please can anyone tell me how to get this info back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the process of trying to troubleshoot a USB device problem on an XP pro SP2 machine, I went into device manager and after confirming the device associated with the problem (device marked with a yellow question) by connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting again, I deleted the device. I did so assuming that when I reconnected the device that windows would reinstall it, it did not. After several reboots, including a safe mode reboot, windows no longer responds to the attachement of the device to the machine. No audio indication, no activity in device manager, no sys tray activity. How do I reverse the deletion of the device?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a large amount of the above named files as a result of MS patches and updates. If these patches and updates were successful, and apparently they were, as I have received no indications otherwise. It's my understanding that these files are used to reverse or uninstall a failed update; Is that correct? How can I verify that all patches and updates were successfully applied? I've had no trouble after installing these, so I'm assuming that all is well. So the question is, How do I remove these $NTUninstallKB******* files?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a HUGE mistake today. I was configuring 2 'puters at a time & accidently made the only admin account into a limited account. At first, I swear, I remember seeing the at least one other account that was an admin but I guess not. The login screen is a bit wierd as well. Instead of it being the new xp screen with the users' icon it has the old 2000 version with the window asking for the username & password. I tried to enter the UN in that I thought I remember seeing & a variety of possible passwords but nada.
1. is it possible to reverse the limited restrictions on the formerly admin account without any other admin account. This seems unlikely but I guess there has to be a way, right? (GOD!, I hioe there is a way!)
2. If there really is another admin account (it seems unlikely that windows would allow the only account to be changed to limited access) then how can I recoup the forgotten password. I didnt make a passwords disks.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just did a fresh load of XP Pro but have a few minor but very annoying
problems.
1. In a folder window (ie My Computer or Explorer) the title bar only shows
the first letter of the path. If the path is C: emp the "C" is displayed if
D:archive then "D" is displayed. I have tried going to "Tools--->folder
option ---->view and select "show full path in title bar" and checking and
unchecking. I have tried different fonts and different size fonts. But still
the title bar is unchanged.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is really pissing me off... I'm trying to customize my color scheme and all that because I'm bored, but for some reason I can't change the color of the active window's title bar. I'm in Display Properties, Appearance, Advanced, but for the life of me I can't find the selection to change what I want.
I've messed around with Active Title Bar, Active Window Border, Application Background, Inactive Title Bar, Window, and others but none of them will change the color of my active window's title bar (for example, the Firefox title bar that says "Tech Support Guy Forums - Post New Thread - Mozilla Firefox" is all blue bcause I'm on the "Default (blue)" Color scheme right now). I don't see a way to deactivate the default color scheme, I can only change it to olive green or silver, or customize through the advanced button, which doesn't seem to work.
Removing the title text from toolbar items such as Zaxxon and MSVDM (included in microsoft's powertoys) seems impossible when the taskbar is locked; however, if you right click the toolbar and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar", then right click in the area of the toolbar you'd like to remove the title from, the option "Show Title" is now available. Uncheck it and re-lock the taskbar and the space-hogging and otherwise unpleasant looking titles are gone.
