View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to change it to Firefox or any other browser, I try it 2 ways, one, by going to Start> set Program access anf defaults, and the other way by clicking the browser I want and when it says "Firefox is not your default, would you like to makeit so" I click yes andit seems to act like it is changing my browser, but then when I try to go to a site it keeps opening it with Avant. I never had this problem when I used only IE and wanted to change my default to Firefox. It always worked then but since I loaded Avant and started using it I can't get back to my other browsers. I also tried using Tools> Internet options> programs> and clicking on "make IE default browser and that did change it to IE but I couldn't get back to FF as default browser.

When i switched back to Fire Fox the links in my tool bar give me a diff address then normal. Before the switch to Opera then back to FF I would click a link and it would just go to that page. Now, I get a weird address of where the link file is stored.

Firefox, I have tried setting it as my default browser in the settings option, and in "Set programs access and defaults". It works quite well... But can I get MSN Messenger to open up in that browser? When I click on my e-mails or MSN Space Etc. It opens up in Internet Explorer. Is there ANY way to open it in my default browser?

problems.
1. In a folder window (ie My Computer or Explorer) the title bar only shows
the first letter of the path. If the path is C: emp the "C" is displayed if
D:archive then "D" is displayed. I have tried going to "Tools--->folder
option ---->view and select "show full path in title bar" and checking and
unchecking. I have tried different fonts and different size fonts.But still
the title bar is unchanged.
When I tried to remove a couple dated data partition Cobian backups from my XHDD, the error message, 'File Title too large to fit into the Recycle Bin' appeared. The deletion of the several Gigs of data that was no longer needed was stopped. How do I manage to remove this material from the XHDD so that the space becomes available?

I'm trying to customize my color scheme and all that because I'm bored, but for some reason I can't change the color of the active window's title bar. I'm in Display Properties, Appearance, Advanced, but for the life of me I can't find the selection to change what I want.
I've messed around with Active Title Bar, Active Window Border, Application Background, Inactive Title Bar, Window, and others but none of them will change the color of my active window's title bar (for example, the Firefox title bar that says "Tech Support Guy Forums - Post New Thread - Mozilla Firefox" is all blue bcause I'm on the "Default (blue)" Color scheme right now). I don't see a way to deactivate the default color scheme, I can only change it to olive green or silver, or customize through the advanced button, which doesn't seem to work.
I am half way computer literate, but this one has me. I am hoping someone can tell me where to look. When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. I have run Microsoft beta spy-ware, ad aware and yahoo's version. I am not seeing anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUntil recently Windows Explorer has shown the title of a CD inserted into either the CD Rewriter or the DVD reader drive on my PC. Since about two weeks ago, XP does not react at all to the insertion of a disk until I click on the relevant drive letter in the left pane of Explorer. It then shows the content of the disk but still does not show the disk title info. In addition Autorun no longer operates even though it is enabled.

View 14 Replies View RelatedRemoving the title text from toolbar items such as Zaxxon and MSVDM (included in microsoft's powertoys) seems impossible when the taskbar is locked; however, if you right click the toolbar and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar", then right click in the area of the toolbar you'd like to remove the title from, the option "Show Title" is now available. Uncheck it and re-lock the taskbar and the space-hogging and otherwise unpleasant looking titles are gone.

When I right click on the file and select properties, summary, advanced, the information is not there either. This only happened in the last month or so because before I did get this missing track info for the same files on the same disk using the same Windows file explorer.

Browsing seemed to go quicker and smoother. This morning, however, I got a MS Windows message concerning "possible" trouble with my browser. It recommended examining my add-ons in IE. I don't have sufficient knowledge to recognize what I should and shouldn't have or, more appropriately, what may be harmful here. I know that those "RealPlayer" programs are invasive so when I saw that listed, I disabled it.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted and installed Windows XP Home fresh on both my desktop and laptop. All worked fine even after getting updated until the last update on each. On the desktop it included Service pack 2 update but not on the laptop, it was a new update but still has only service pack 1. On each computer the browsers both IE6 and foxfire started running very slow. IT would take many seconds to get new pages open. On the laptop I restored and IE6 works fine but I am still having a problem with Foxfire and it also received a Foxfire update. Any idea how to fix this problem without restoring and losing the needed update? I have run XP on both systems for a good while and never had this problem.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi use both mozilla firefox and internet explorer when i have to and when i log into anything form hotmail to ebay on either of these and then click on any icon requiring you to be logged in i am returned to a page telling me to sign in, could this be a virus or even spyware? i have done scans; (ad-aware, AVG, Spybot, Windows Defender, Registry Mechanic, CCleaner, Zone labs antispyware and trend micro pc-cillin interent security) could it be that maybe on of these has removed a file that allows me to log in?

I have attempted everything i can think of deleting the cookies, cache, and adjusting settings to "check for new versions of pages
automatically" but still the problem exists.
for some reason every time I start up my computer I get a Bad Image message saying that the file mshtml.dll is not a valid image. Because of this I can't use the internet! I take it out of the folder and put it back in and my internet starts to work. Now when I go to Internet Explorer I go to the browser and when I type in a site it just crashes and says IE has encountered a problem it has to shutdown. Luckly I have AOL also! but when I try to download with either browsers, it just shows a bar in the left corner loading as it does when you go to any other site and then it just stops and goes away.
