I found that my XP (English version) is not able to put non-English characters in correct order, so that my Thai dictionary doesn't work properly. Here are some details. In Thai language, some vowels are on the left side of consonant, but when ordering those words with vowels on the left side, we don't consider the vowel is the first character, but XP does. I need to introduce 3 Thai characters in order to illustrate this problem more clearly.is the first consonant in Thai language, ข is the second, ไ is a vowel which is on the left side of consonant, such as ไก and ไข. Now we put these 2 consonants and 2 words in proper order,In the shop where I bought that dictionary, it works pretty well, but I didn't notice what system is was.

This happens when you move items from your user start menu to the all users start menu. Here is the fix:1. Open regedit (Start -> Run. Type regedit)2. Navigate to Remove the order key by right clicking and going to delete.4. Log out then back in.I wish they would include a feature that was in Windows 2000 that let you resort the start menu!

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I received advice on how to repair WinXP by typing an alphabetical sequence in the "Run" dialog box of WinXp (similar to "msconfig", "dxdiag", or "regedit" ). It would launch a self-diagnostic utility & then WinXp would prompt you to insert the WinXP2 Disc to repair the installation. Can anyone please remind me of this command?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn the process of trying to troubleshoot a USB device problem on an XP pro SP2 machine, I went into device manager and after confirming the device associated with the problem (device marked with a yellow question) by connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting again, I deleted the device. I did so assuming that when I reconnected the device that windows would reinstall it, it did not. After several reboots, including a safe mode reboot, windows no longer responds to the attachement of the device to the machine. No audio indication, no activity in device manager, no sys tray activity. How do I reverse the deletion of the device?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a large amount of the above named files as a result of MS patches and updates. If these patches and updates were successful, and apparently they were, as I have received no indications otherwise. It's my understanding that these files are used to reverse or uninstall a failed update; Is that correct? How can I verify that all patches and updates were successfully applied? I've had no trouble after installing these, so I'm assuming that all is well. So the question is, How do I remove these $NTUninstallKB******* files?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI made a HUGE mistake today. I was configuring 2 'puters at a time & accidently made the only admin account into a limited account. At first, I swear, I remember seeing the at least one other account that was an admin but I guess not. The login screen is a bit wierd as well. Instead of it being the new xp screen with the users' icon it has the old 2000 version with the window asking for the username & password. I tried to enter the UN in that I thought I remember seeing & a variety of possible passwords but nada.
1. is it possible to reverse the limited restrictions on the formerly admin account without any other admin account. This seems unlikely but I guess there has to be a way, right? (GOD!, I hioe there is a way!)
2. If there really is another admin account (it seems unlikely that windows would allow the only account to be changed to limited access) then how can I recoup the forgotten password. I didnt make a passwords disks.

Must have been something I have done, Bill would never make a mistake like this one.The problem is that all of a sudden, my keystrokes are desrever i.e. reversed. This results in passwords being entered incorectly, a pain because you cannot see it happening. You realise what is going on when you click on forgotten password and your e-mail address appears backwards when typing it

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to split my existing Windows partition into three partitions:
1. Windows system + apps
2. Personal data
3. Swap file
My question is, is that the best order for them? Or should I keep the swapfile partition next to the system partition?I've heard some people say the swap partition should go on the outside of the disk, because it's the part that turns the fastest (so it has faster reads/writes). Or is that an urban legend?

Once connected, the drive functioned flawlessly. However, after system shutdown the next boot failed with "no boot disk found," which was easily traced to the external drive.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had a Thrustmaster Dual Power 4 game pad, and bought a Logitech Rumblepad later. I like the Rumblepad better, and want to consider it my "first string" controller. But if I go into say, Nba Live 2005, and go to choose controllers, no matter what I do, the thrustmaster is on the top of the list, and the logitech is on the bottom. All the old posts talk about choosing Preferred device in the control panel. By running DxDiag, I can see that setting something as the Preferred Device assigns it Controller ID 0. But I also see that the order of the Controllers, as recognized by most games, is the same as the order listed in the game controller control panel, and is completely unrelated to which device is "controller id 0" and "preferred device." For example, I set the logitech as preferred device, and plugged in the thrustmaster and also a gamepad pro.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use COMPUPIC imaging software which allows me to create a slide show where I can change the order of the individual JPEG files in a directory. I can then copy these files into a new directory from within COMPUPIC and it retains the new ordering, not the original alphabetic ordering. So far everything is great. However when I then try to copy these files to a CD they are reordered alphabeticaly. I'm using Windows XP and Roxia CD Creator 5 Basic. This is a problem since I would like to use the reordered file on my CD player to create a slide show in the order I specified in my Compupic imaging software.
