I just downgraded from Vista/Win7 to XP. In Control Panel/system/hardware/device manger. It's showing no ethernet drivers. in network connections, nothing. How do I fix this so I can go online? Posted via Mobile Device

I posted here in February '08 about a downgrade from Vista Home Basic to XP Home, and received good information on finding the necessary drivers at the Acer website.
I got XP on the Acer up and running, Internet access, etc. all appeared fine. I am now adding speakers and unable to get sound. I viewed Device Manager and found to my surprise that I've got question marks next to Display Adapter >Video Controller and Other Devices > PCI Device. Interestingly, Sound, Video and Game Controllers appears normal in Device Manager, but no sound card appears in the list (interesting since it is lack of sound that prompted me to check in the first place
I recently put XP on a Compaq Presario C700 CTO that came preinstalled with Vista. I had to change some things in th Bios for Xp to install and now I need some drivers. Nothing is supported. I received links for various drivers someone told me i needed but none of them worked partly because i wasn't sure how to install them as the instructions were useless. The drivers I'm missing are Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus, Ethernet Controller, Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus, Sm Bus Controller, Video Controller, Video Controller (VGA Compatible), and one Unknown device which I think is my wireless (Atheros 06X Wireless Network Adapter). Any help as to how I can get these drivers installed and get XP working would be greatly appreciated.

Now that my system is with xp, I have lost sound and some other drivers. I have tried downloading several drivers but none seem to work. Right now I have a laptop without sound or even VGA.I need help.Please,if anyone can send me a software to get back my sound and other drivers I will be most grateful. I like my laptop and don't want to lose it.

View 7 Replies View Relatedcompaq 4000 seris computer.celeron 1.4 256 of pc 133 ram. 20gig harddrive.Its running windows xp and they use the aol dial up service 8.0 ( they dont like 9.0).Now they said they had some spyware or something on the machine. i told them to run adaware and see if that would do it. Little did i know that they had aboutblank hack. well i *with some help from the nice guys at the boreds here* fixed that but now her aol internet wiill not work. So to fix some of the other things wrong with her pc i was ganna bring it to my house and use my charter broadband internet to use on the machine. Well the eithernet card the pc allready had installed is a SMZ EZ Card 10/100 pci (SMC1211TX).
Windows will not load the driver for this card makeing the use of my net impossible... its the code 31, windows cannot load the drivers for this device. Ive tired everything from unistalling the driver, reinstalling, updateing everything. then when i looked at the driver details it is trying to use a realtek driver for the card? I need some serous help here guys and i really appreciate it. Ive tried all i can think of to get it to work so i dont have to bug you all.
I've just reinstalled windows xp media center edition on my mams toshiba satalite a50 laptop but i cant get onto the internet using ethernet because i can't find the drivers well i goto install my bt home hub and it says i can only connect to the internet by using the usb wire and doesnt give me a option to use the internet throught the ethernet wire. so i install the usb drivers for the homehub and connect to the hub using usb then i went onto the toshiba website and downloaded the drivers so i could try and get my ethernet connection working but nothing seems to get it working plus my wireless connection doesnt work ther isnt anything on my computer that gives me a option to connect to the wireless network.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've installed Windows 2000 Pro on a laptop computer from Fujitsu Siemens (from year 2000). I am using a Swedish version, so I guess it won't help if I repeat the error-message I get when I am trying to hibernate the computer. However, when I choose to hibernate, the screen flickers and then throws a error-message saying that the system is unable to hibernate because of a driver named "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)". I've been trying to change this driver to other versions and different alternative drivers, but I haven't succeeded. Another strange thing is that after a reboot I am able to hibernate, but right after that if I try to hibernate again I'll get that message.

Here are some drivers we know we need but cannot find: realtek rtl8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC Trident Cyberblade XP2 AGP 4x The major issue is no internet connectivity means we cannot use one of the driver scanner software out there. Every utility I find requires me to be able to connect to the internet on the affected machine!

After booting from the CD Windows setup happily inspects the hardware etc etc but upon the Message 'Windows is starting up' I am confronted by a BSOD and Error message 0x0000007b. Windows Vista currently runs fine and reports no problems with any hardware. I tried booting up a Linux distro and it did this quite hapily. Any workarounds for this situation? Is there a BIOS option i should be looking at changing or is my hardware too new for Win XP

There is no id on the laptop apart from the COA for XP and Z600 on a sticker underneath it. How can I find out what make it is so I can find the drivers. I now have the router in my room using the Ethernet hole on my new MSI K8T Neo2-F V2.0 Motherboard, but every time I try and download a file it is corrupted. recognized the hardware but could not find any drivers. I tried unplugging it manually, installing it in another card slot with no luck. I took it back to

A friends HP Media Center PC m7077c crashed. Had no recover disk, etc. Installed XP Pro SP2 and I need drivers (according to Device Manager). No sound is obvious but video controller is not. Video seems okay. Where do I find drivers for this machine. XP Pro, Home and MCE are different OS's ... as far as my experience. The drivers are not the same.

The first time was just xp home.the second was xp64 corporate edition. both times after i ntsall i can not see my ethernet connection. i have tried using the connection wizard to no avail. Im assuming imight need a motherboard drriver but dont know where to find the one i need. also im puttting xp on a seperate hd and im having trouble using both at the same time. it says bootmgr missing when i install the xp drive. even though when i installed xp on the drove with the vista drive unplugged it work fine to begin with, now even though i unplugged the vista drive it still says that. im assuming i can repair the installation. my main worry though is the ethernet connection.
