Unable To Install Linksys Ethernet Adapter And Router Drivers?
Jun 26, 2005
Trying to install Linksys ethernet adapter and router. After searching for the drive, I get an error message, "Can't find software." Trying to install HP scanner, I get an error message, "Can't find <some> dll.", even though the install CD is opened.
I've installed Windows 2000 Pro on a laptop computer from Fujitsu Siemens (from year 2000). I am using a Swedish version, so I guess it won't help if I repeat the error-message I get when I am trying to hibernate the computer. However, when I choose to hibernate, the screen flickers and then throws a error-message saying that the system is unable to hibernate because of a driver named "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)". I've been trying to change this driver to other versions and different alternative drivers, but I haven't succeeded. Another strange thing is that after a reboot I am able to hibernate, but right after that if I try to hibernate again I'll get that message.
I am trying to run a system restore on one of my computers. I was trying to install a LinkSys wireless router on it. The router would start up fine, but after about 5 or 10 minutes, it would stop working and I would have no internet connection. I went and got a Dlink router, and thought I would do a system restore to before I attempted to put on the LinkSys router. The system restore has been running for more than an hour. The progress bar has gone about 80% and it seems nothing else is happening. I am fearful of turning off the machine in the middle of a restore.
I am hoping somebody on here will be able to help me. I just installed a wireless router so the kids could have the Internet on their computer. I went into the setup and set times to limit how late they could be on. When the time comes that they should be shut off the router disconnects them and then reconnects them shortly thereafter. I have it set to shut off at 9:00 p.m. and turned back on at 8:00 a.m.. I am using a Linksys systems router.
I am having problem in setting up a remote desktop connection to my workplace through my Linksys BEFSX41 router at home. I know it is the router causing the problem because when I physically bypass it, I can connect to my workplace no problem with Remote Desktop Connection. Linksys doesn't seem to be able to help me, they keep talking about VPN tunnels. I don't think that this software uses VPN. I have tried disabling the built-in firewall, port triggering port 3389 (don't really know what that does), creating a static ip on my end and port forwarding port 3389 to that computer, and even a DMZ doesn't work! Ultimately I would like to be able to use Remote Desktop Connection on all my computers at home to connect to work, so I think that port forwarding is not the right choice anyways. I don't see why the client-side router should have to do port forwarding, I thought only the host-side router should be port forwarding.
I have a home network with 3 PC's running XP Home SP2 and a Linksys Router. I had to replace the mother board in one of the computers and since then some ... not all ... shared directories are not accessible from the other 2 computers. If I attempt to open some of the folders I get an error message that says "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
I'm trying to uninstall a Linksys router from my desktop without any success. There is no Linksys software installed or any hardware (wireless card). I went from connecting from the modem to comp, to modem > router > comp using a Linksys setup tool. If I simply set up the comp the old way and reboot, I have no connection. Linksys does not provide a way to uninstall the router. Google did not give any results except that there is no way to remove it. How do I go back to connecting straight from the modem?
I'm trying to help my roommate get her laptop to access the Internet, but I can't figure it out.. Here are the hardware/software specs: Right now, the laptop either doesn't connect at all, or only very briefly. We've used both the Linksys networking software and the Windows one. However, it works fine when we don't have security setup, so I'm thinking it has something to do with this. We're using WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption. We don't want to have to leave our computers unsecured.
ethernet controller i dont know how to upgrade/install the right drivers, i know thatr my motherboard is the ASUS A7V8X ... but i'm having problems finding the right drivers
i just installed xp pro on my gatway 450rog all is working well but in the other device there are 5 things with yellow ? on them not the netork card that is fine but the ethernet controller, modem, how do i fix this i can not get it to conect to the internet to update thses
I've got an USB Adapter on my XP machine.I do need to keep alive my USB adapter, even if the network is NOT available.(the adapter seems to be in sleeping mode, if no network is connected...) Is there anybody, who can tell me how to disable this feature?
I use a an Asus WL-330g wi-fi 802.11g wireless ethernet adapter to connect to a 802.11b wireless router, the SMC7004VWBR. The wl-330g works fine when directly connected to the computers ethernet port. However, I want to use a hub.
I'm writing this from my work computer, because I've totally messed up my Dell Dimension 8250 running XP Pro).I combined my dual OS computer into only one large partition and Fdisked(wiped out my OS(s) on my primary hard drive, in an attempt to reinstall on XP OS for my computer. To make a long story as short as I can, I removed(Fdisk) and "clean installed" my XP Pro OS from Dell's XP installation disk on my unpartitioned primary hard drive, But I can NOT connect to my ISP or the internet because I lost the driver CD and can't connect to the internet to download and install then.
I can't seem to resolve. I've just reinstalled Windows XP. Everything seems to be fine except for when I try to install my cable which uses the ethernet adapter. Every time I try to install the driver for the ethernet adapter it says this:"The driver was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software""The drivers for this device is not installed"Can someone please help me with this? How can I get this ethernet card to work?
HI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.
I just purchased a used Dell Dimension 4700, it came without the OS installed or the resource cd with all the drivers. I installed the OS this afternoon, but in the device manager serveral yellow ? came up. The flags are listed for the ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, PCI modem, SM Bus controller, unknown device, and the video controller (vga compatible).
I've got an Intel DG33FB motherboard, Intel E8400 CPU and SATA hard drive and I dual-boot with gentoo linux.
So basically, the last time I installed XP, I had to slipstream the AHCI drivers as well as SP2 into an image of an XP CD, then burn it and install from that disc. When I did it last time I had a handy little utility that would automatically make the required changes to the .iso and put all the files in the right spots, etc.
I recently was forced to reformat my boot drive (I use Windows Xp Home Edition). I have a second hard drive, which I had mirrored my OS. The drive is my new boot drive, but I have noticed I can not install drivers anymore, despite the fact my user profile shows as having admin rights.
Can not install any new hardware with the drivers that come! I have never seen this and do not know which way to go. I have updated XP Home to XP Pro. I have gone through doing and HP restore (Since it is and HP box) And when you even point the hardware install to the driver that came with the (SCSI card, Net Card) it will tell you there is nothing there for this hardware.
I'm running on Windows XP and I'm unable to install my mobo drivers. It's an Asus A8N-E. When I try to install them directly from the CD, it shows the installation completing, and then a window pops up displaying only "1155:". I tried downloading the latest drivers from both the nVidia website and the Asus website, and neither work. When they are installed, Windows will attempt to load, and then blue screen and restart.
On my Acer TravelMate 2480, I reformatted it and reinstalled Windows XP. There is not wireless icon. I went to the Acer webpage and downloaded the drivers I guessed I might need. When I try to update drivers on the Acer, and choose my flash drive stick, the computer doesn't see any drivers on the flash drive. I will probably end up having to pay to have the whole thing redone the right way
I'm not having any problems with the audio itself, but I just reinstalled XP and before when I would press the volume up/down buttons at the top of the laptop a green bar/scale thing would come up on screen to show me how high/low my volume was. After reinstalling the audio drivers from IBMs website it does not do this anymore
I installed windows xp pro on a computer, and it did not include the drivers for the ethernet port, therefore i cannot connect to the internet. ive been using a rewritable disk to transfer files, so can anyone post a link on how to get them?
I have a Sony RS-220 desktop w/ XP home w/ SP2 & all updates since that's unable to auto install generic device drivers. I discovered this when I tried plugging in a couple different USB flash drives & it would just stop at the found new hardware wizard. Running the wizard w/ "install the software automatically" & also enabling "also search windows updates" returns unable to find device driver. The USB flash drive was the only bang in device manager. I uninstalled the usb controllers, rebooted and amazingly the controllers wouldn't auto reinstall. Suspecting the behavior extended to more then just USBs/the chipset I uninstalled some unneeded devices (56k modem & 1394) & they also wouldn't auto reinstall.
I went to the sony website & strangely Sony doesn't list the chipset available for download w/ the other drivers I downloaded the chipset direct from intel & installed it but that didn't work either. I've tried many other things to no avail. Malware scans (spybot, AVG AV, rootkitrevealer)...all came up clean. I've tried a new admin user profile, cCleaner registry cleanup, resetting registry permissions w/ subinACL, setting related windows services to automatic, checkdisk /r. Another thing I thought about doing was uninstalling the PCI controller, but I think I recall that can get ugly. Ultimately the only thing that allowed me to get my usb controllers, usb hubs, modem, 1394, & usb drive working was to "install from a list or specific location" & "include this location in the search" C:WINDOWSinf. Does anybody have any idea how I can restore the functionality of generic drivers auto installing & not having to point to an INF directory? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I've just reinstalled windows xp media center edition on my mams toshiba satalite a50 laptop but i cant get onto the internet using ethernet because i can't find the drivers well i goto install my bt home hub and it says i can only connect to the internet by using the usb wire and doesnt give me a option to use the internet throught the ethernet wire. so i install the usb drivers for the homehub and connect to the hub using usb then i went onto the toshiba website and downloaded the drivers so i could try and get my ethernet connection working but nothing seems to get it working plus my wireless connection doesnt work ther isnt anything on my computer that gives me a option to connect to the wireless network.
I am having a driver problem, which i find to be very weird. I cannot install, or uninstall a driver, nor can i disable on from device manager. When i try to do any of these I get either a "run DLL as an App has enountered a problem and needs to close" or if trying to do something from device manager, I get Microsoft Management Console has enountered a problem and needs to close. In the first case I believe the file was sysag.api in the second the file causing an error is mmc.exe.
I just downgraded from Vista/Win7 to XP. In Control Panel/system/hardware/device manger. It's showing no ethernet drivers. in network connections, nothing. How do I fix this so I can go online? Posted via Mobile Device
Installed an ethernet card in a pc running XP home . Don't have the drivers for it . How do I determine what make card it is and what drivers I need and where to get them ?
recently wiped Toshiba Satellite A25-S307 notebook and installed Windows XP Pro. Now we find that there are no drivers for the internet: no wireless card driver, no ethernet controller driver. Cannot even find out the names of some of the lost drivers! Here is the "Problem Devices" list: Base System Device Ethernet Controller Not Available (this is what it says in the list!)PCI Modem Video Controller
Here are some drivers we know we need but cannot find: realtek rtl8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC Trident Cyberblade XP2 AGP 4x The major issue is no internet connectivity means we cannot use one of the driver scanner software out there. Every utility I find requires me to be able to connect to the internet on the affected machine!
