On my Acer TravelMate 2480, I reformatted it and reinstalled Windows XP. There is not wireless icon. I went to the Acer webpage and downloaded the drivers I guessed I might need. When I try to update drivers on the Acer, and choose my flash drive stick, the computer doesn't see any drivers on the flash drive. I will probably end up having to pay to have the whole thing redone the right way

Since i had many viruses i rebooted it with windows xp home edition. now when i try to connect to the internet using the wireless client like i used to, it doesnt let me. it isnt an option in the network connections. can someone help me because i need my internet running asap.

Works Ok after administrator account has logged on and established link.Our church wants to set up a computer in our library for visitors to use to access the internet. A hard wire connection to the router works with the Visitor Limited Account without the Administrator account being logged on. Running a hard wire CAT5 cable to the library isn�t an option. The computer�s wireless adapter is Belkin G Plus MIMO USB adapter. The DSL Modem/Router is a Siemens SE 567.

On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) So basically, the last time I installed XP, I had to slipstream the AHCI drivers as well as SP2 into an image of an XP CD, then burn it and install from that disc. When I did it last time I had a handy little utility that would automatically make the required changes to the .iso and put all the files in the right spots, etc.
I recently was forced to reformat my boot drive (I use Windows Xp Home Edition). I have a second hard drive, which I had mirrored my OS. The drive is my new boot drive, but I have noticed I can not install drivers anymore, despite the fact my user profile shows as having admin rights.

I have gone through doing and HP restore (Since it is and HP box) And when you even point the hardware install to the driver that came with the (SCSI card, Net Card) it will tell you there is nothing there for this hardware.

When I try to install them directly from the CD, it shows the installation completing, and then a window pops up displaying only "1155:". I tried downloading the latest drivers from both the nVidia website and the Asus website, and neither work. When they are installed, Windows will attempt to load, and then blue screen and restart.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony RS-220 desktop w/ XP home w/ SP2 & all updates since that's unable to auto install generic device drivers. I discovered this when I tried plugging in a couple different USB flash drives & it would just stop at the found new hardware wizard. Running the wizard w/ "install the software automatically" & also enabling "also search windows updates" returns unable to find device driver. The USB flash drive was the only bang in device manager. I uninstalled the usb controllers, rebooted and amazingly the controllers wouldn't auto reinstall. Suspecting the behavior extended to more then just USBs/the chipset I uninstalled some unneeded devices (56k modem & 1394) & they also wouldn't auto reinstall.
I went to the sony website & strangely Sony doesn't list the chipset available for download w/ the other drivers I downloaded the chipset direct from intel & installed it but that didn't work either. I've tried many other things to no avail. Malware scans (spybot, AVG AV, rootkitrevealer)...all came up clean. I've tried a new admin user profile, cCleaner registry cleanup, resetting registry permissions w/ subinACL, setting related windows services to automatic, checkdisk /r. Another thing I thought about doing was uninstalling the PCI controller, but I think I recall that can get ugly. Ultimately the only thing that allowed me to get my usb controllers, usb hubs, modem, 1394, & usb drive working was to "install from a list or specific location" & "include this location in the search" C:WINDOWSinf. Does anybody have any idea how I can restore the functionality of generic drivers auto installing & not having to point to an INF directory? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Trying to install Linksys ethernet adapter and router. After searching for the drive, I get an error message, "Can't find software." Trying to install HP scanner, I get an error message, "Can't find <some> dll.", even though the install CD is opened.

When i try to do any of these I get either a "run DLL as an App has enountered a problem and needs to close" or if trying to do something from device manager, I get Microsoft Management Console has enountered a problem and needs to close. In the first case I believe the file was sysag.api in the second the file causing an error is mmc.exe.

Just got the router (Belkin F5D7230-4)set up downstairs and after alot of BS it's working fine, I've got the matching wireless PCI card upstairs and can't get any available network! As a matter of fact....I had a hell of a time installing the card...my MOBO just didn't want to recognize it! I'll break off here so anyone that's had a similar problem can reply.

This message seems to trigger two problems: (1) the sound is not working, and (2) the wireless connection does not work after my computer goes into hibernation--I have to do a complete reboot to get the internet back.The second message says "Anti-Spyware | Unexpected Problem was encountered. I try the following but still would not restore the browsing: repair wireless connection, disconnect and re-connect wireless. The only way to get the connection back is by log off and on.

However, a windows disk didn't come with the computer so I used the one that came with my desktop (dell xps 400). It's running fine and all that jazz but I am clueless on how to set up my wireless connection. When I first bought the computer the first time I opened it it automatically picked up the wireless connection and all I had to do is type in a password and such. Now I guess I'm starting from scratch... There's no webcam software on it or anything like it came with. The resolution doesnt even fit the same after adjusting it. (It's close but still a little stretched out)
View 6 Replies View RelatedXP has stopped connecting to my wireless connecter "Wireless Network Connection Not Connected" Device manager says everything is normal, and I can identify other local wireless networks. XP recognizes that the connector is there, but it won't hook up. I have disabled and reenabled the wireless connector and reloaded all of the Broadcom software. I tried to do an XP repair, but I am using SP3. The slipstream recovery disc that I made is asking for a password to get into XP, but there isn't any. I've verified this with three different password cracking programs. Everything else is working; I am on an Ethernet connection now.
how to force XP to connect or know what drivers I need to reload that are used to connect to the wireless connector besides the Broadcom's that I have already reloaded? I really don't want to do a complete XP reinstall.
I reinstalled windows xp sp3 on a old laptop. Everything went fine except for internet connectivity. I have a wireless network to which I connect several computers and devices and everything works like it should.When I try to connect my laptop to this network, it fails.Every 5 seconds it goes from not connected to acquiring network address.I am sure that the key is correct, I am sure that my router is belkin router is wireless G and so is the Ralink RT2500 card. I am also sure that I have not white listed MAC addresses so my laptop won't connect. Basically I have done every simple thing that perhaps could be causing the problem.

When you pull up the screen is says " non connected" but it actually is, then about 15 mins later it kicks me off and I have to re connect manually. This is very time consuming and is a pest. I have tried restoring my registry to an eariler point and have checked for spyware and virus.

He came home last week and tried using his laptop on our home wireless network (w/Linksys router). He said he was not able to always connect so he tried to set up (configure, repair) the wireless connection himself (always a dangerous thing to do).Now he gets no internet at all (IE always goes into 'offline' mode) under Windows XP home.I've tried to trouble shoot the connection but so far I have been unsuccessful. In the past this box was checked and stayed checked all the time even if I rebooted, restarted, etc.. Starting a few days ago whenever I reboot, startup, etc. by default this box is now always unchecked and I have to go in and recheck it each time.What's making this box uncheck itself and how do I get it to stay checked again?

I have a HP zd7000us laptop with wireless capabilities. However I the system does not even show any wireless network available. My desktop in my house has no problems going online with the wireless, neither does my psp for that matter. It's like the computer doesn't even know it's there. It works fine that way, but when I plug the ethernet cable in directly to the DSL modem and shut down the router, I get the "page cannot be displayed" message, even though the icon shows that I am connected and the lights are green. I know it is just something with my settings, but cannot get it figured out. I would like this to work, because a direct connection downloads faster and sometimes the wireless does not work due to interference.
