Uninstall Router / No Linksys Software Installed Or Any Hardware
Jul 4, 2008
I'm trying to uninstall a Linksys router from my desktop without any success. There is no Linksys software installed or any hardware (wireless card). I went from connecting from the modem to comp, to modem > router > comp using a Linksys setup tool. If I simply set up the comp the old way and reboot, I have no connection. Linksys does not provide a way to uninstall the router. Google did not give any results except that there is no way to remove it. How do I go back to connecting straight from the modem?
I am hoping somebody on here will be able to help me. I just installed a wireless router so the kids could have the Internet on their computer. I went into the setup and set times to limit how late they could be on. When the time comes that they should be shut off the router disconnects them and then reconnects them shortly thereafter. I have it set to shut off at 9:00 p.m. and turned back on at 8:00 a.m.. I am using a Linksys systems router.
I am having problem in setting up a remote desktop connection to my workplace through my Linksys BEFSX41 router at home. I know it is the router causing the problem because when I physically bypass it, I can connect to my workplace no problem with Remote Desktop Connection. Linksys doesn't seem to be able to help me, they keep talking about VPN tunnels. I don't think that this software uses VPN. I have tried disabling the built-in firewall, port triggering port 3389 (don't really know what that does), creating a static ip on my end and port forwarding port 3389 to that computer, and even a DMZ doesn't work! Ultimately I would like to be able to use Remote Desktop Connection on all my computers at home to connect to work, so I think that port forwarding is not the right choice anyways. I don't see why the client-side router should have to do port forwarding, I thought only the host-side router should be port forwarding.
I am trying to run a system restore on one of my computers. I was trying to install a LinkSys wireless router on it. The router would start up fine, but after about 5 or 10 minutes, it would stop working and I would have no internet connection. I went and got a Dlink router, and thought I would do a system restore to before I attempted to put on the LinkSys router. The system restore has been running for more than an hour. The progress bar has gone about 80% and it seems nothing else is happening. I am fearful of turning off the machine in the middle of a restore.
I have a home network with 3 PC's running XP Home SP2 and a Linksys Router. I had to replace the mother board in one of the computers and since then some ... not all ... shared directories are not accessible from the other 2 computers. If I attempt to open some of the folders I get an error message that says "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Trying to install Linksys ethernet adapter and router. After searching for the drive, I get an error message, "Can't find software." Trying to install HP scanner, I get an error message, "Can't find <some> dll.", even though the install CD is opened.
2 year old 2650 Dell laptop running XP. Installed a Linksys wireless G card and then a couple wks later the machine won't reboot. When powering up I get the blue Dell screen with "F2 for setup" and then it goes to a dark silver/black screen with a pretty white cursor flashing upper left corner of the display. Besides that I get nothing. Power down/up/sideways and nothing, except the same Dell screen noted above and the same silvery black screen w.cursor.
I've removed the batt so only the power cord is feeding it. No dice. I did somehow manage to get to my desktop a few min ago after 2 wks of no attempts but as soon as I tried to launch IE it froze and I had to power down and now I'm back to square one. Have also tried F8 a hundred times, as well as dancing on my left big toe while chanting to the computer gods.
It all started about a week ago when i upgraded at home from cable modem + router to a Cisco combo provided by the ISP - Cisco EPC2425. We have 5 PC's running locally - 2 physical and 3 wireless, and out of them my PC is the one with the problem, the rest are just fine - i'm typing this from one of the laptops.I run XP Pro SP2 Version 2002. The PC is a E6300 with 2x2GB of DDR2 800 ram, motherboard is Gigabyte EP31-DS3L, and video is a Leadtek 8600GT.I use the same software for close to 2yrs now - only difference is the AV which has been Kaspersky 2010 for 3months.I use the XP firewall. As browsers i use the latest Firefox with NoScript and the latest Opera. The problem was that soon after we put in the new combo my browsers died. Pidgin has issues, Opera actually manages to check a page.I have tried repairing the connection, uninstalling the connection, uninstalling the LAN, disabling noscript, changing my DNS - it is taken automatically from the router and the router has DHCP and i'm not really sure that i managed to change it either, and even reinstalling the OS. Reinstalling the OS seemed to fix the problem, i did not have it for almost 5 days, but all of the sudden, it's back, and it wasn't simply in full effect, it was gradual. It started as pages taking longer to load, having to refresh constantly to get them to work and after a restart, they stopped working altogether, yet Opera is still working - not sure for how long though.MMO's work, WoW and EVE have no issues on the affected PC.I'll try to be a bit more clear. Router was installed, my browsers died, everything that would require a DNS died, and so did pidgin - i use google and MSN on it. I reinstalled the OS, and it worked fine for 5 days, than it started again. Current status is MSN not functioning, Firefox not functioning, Google talk functioning 50% of times, and Opera still functioning - not sure for how long.PS: No, i did not have norton installed.
I don't know where to put this topic. But alright so basically yesterday I started having this problem. When I go to anything that uses Java such as Geocities my computer starts making a chugging noise and the browser (IE or Firefox) crashes. It brings up one of those senseless error messages about something failing. I'd look now but it'd close this screen. I tried uninstalling Java but when I try uninstalling the JS2E Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 5 it won't let me uninstall either. It makes the same noise and freezes up the window. What in the hell do I do? I've never had a problem quite like this.
My friends XP crashed so I leant them my recovery disc (my old pc had XP this one has vista), when the xp recovery disc didn't work for them, they used my Acer Vista one which has half or more loaded vista and stalled probably because the lap top is to old to handle it. Anyway there is a blue Acer loading screen doing nothing and the vista programs run behind it which makes it difficult to see what you're doing. They brought it around to me as I can use this pc to see what I'm doing and try and fix there's more or less by feel, if that makes sense. They tried reinstalling my xp disc but vista seems to super seed it and it wont take, which doesn't surprise me.
I removed (manually, as the uninstaller was not able to do it) McAfee Firewall from my pc and installed Zone Alarm Suite, but Security Center keeps to tell me "one of the firewalls installed is working".I would like to make Windows understand there is just a firewall installed and working. Is there the way? Which Registry Keys do I remove?
I'm trying to help my roommate get her laptop to access the Internet, but I can't figure it out.. Here are the hardware/software specs: Right now, the laptop either doesn't connect at all, or only very briefly. We've used both the Linksys networking software and the Windows one. However, it works fine when we don't have security setup, so I'm thinking it has something to do with this. We're using WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption. We don't want to have to leave our computers unsecured.
I'm having problems with my LAN connection and router.Although the LAN connection is connected and firewalled, the router is on with all the lights working, i cannot get on to the net. When I open my internet browser to go to a web page it begins to search for it, however then displays page cannot be displayed message and informs me that the server cannot be found or a DNS has occurred.Sometimes i get a bubble pop up saying limited or no connectivity.
Before the connection stopped working, my main computer was connected directly to the router and there were two laptops also using the router wirelessly. However now none of the computers can access the net The connection works if i remove the router and use a broadband modem.I cannot configure my router as no instructions came with it relating to its use and after numerous attempts at contacting the manufacturers
I installed the stuff on the CD and it tottaly messed up my pcWhen i restarted it kept on restarting and restarting it only came up to "Welcome to Windows'So I had to do a System Restore.
I have this problem. I cannot access Internet. I'm trying with an ADSL connection and with a cable connection trough a LAN with a router. I can ping the router and access other computers in the LAN, but no internet. I have already reinstalled windows, but no success.
This computer using XP sp3 fully updated hard wired to a netgear router seems to want to crash a lot when I open any word documents. I get an event error 4321 NetBT. How do I deal with this please. I also get a message in the task tray that there is a duplicate name on the network.
I've posted this on other forums but to date, no one has been able to help at all. And please read the whole thing as others have posted responses but they aren't relevant.I have a small home system, an XP SP3 desktop, a Win7 Laptop, a file server, and a LinkSys router WRT310N (my third router). The problems seem to occur on the XP desktop. Starting about nine months ago, http requests would become corrupted. Once when I tried to access a page on NYTIMES.COM, I got that page, but on the WASHINGTONTPOST.COM (page not found, of course). Now, about once a day or more, I get some sort of corruption. Mostly, I lose network mappings (I have a small home system); and also at the same time, I cannot get any documents via HTTP; or just some seemingly random sites, I get URL not found, or today, the comments on some blogs don't appear at all. USUALLY, rebooting fixes this, so I reboot several times a day.
THE Win7 Laptop NEVER has any problems. Both are wired into the router. When the problems occur, I cannot raise the router from the desktop; nor can I access any documents via HTTP even using IP addresses. I can however, ping successfully.ONCE I noticed that when the problem occurred, and my phone was using the wireless connection to the router, it too had the same problems with its browser. BUT the WIN7 Laptop never has any problems.I've used MALWAREBYTES and other Anti-virues, but they find nothing. I've tried repairing the stack with "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" but that doesn't work either.
A Wanadoo-a789 Model: dv4210-wa as a router and 2 computers both running windows xp and were both reinstalled not long ago, for a while they were able to talk to each other but for some reasson they just can't see each other now, they can't even ping each other. This is even with the windows and router firewall turned off.
I just got a Airlink101 wireless 4 port router (AR325W). $15.00 at fry's. Great buy, and had to get it.I want to just use the wired setup. Not the wireless. How do I turn off the wireless part. I do not want to use it yet, and I do not want anyone else to use my connection over the air. My home computers are already set up in a wired network. This is my first router, so I'm a bit unused to router jargin. I did a quick scan of the complete manual, and saw how to set up the wired and wireless part, but nothing about turning it off the wireless. Maybe it is as simple as not connecting the antenna. I don't know. Anyone have any thoughts?
I have 4 computers on a D-Link wireless router. My wife uses the wireless feature. All computers connect to the net flawlessly. The two downstairs computers are hardwired. One is a Pentium 120mh running Win98, the other is a P4 Running WinXP Pro. I started a Home network using the P4 and made up a Setup disk which I installed on the rest of the computers. The two downstairs computers and the wife's laptop all work with the network. A recently purchased Dell Dimension 3000 completes the system and it too was hardwired into the router but refuses to co-operate.It neither sees the work group or can be seen by the others. I have tried several things, including disabling the firewall, pinging seems to work fine. I tried contacting Dell, but that was a bust.
Thinking of buying 2 Acer Aspire 3002LMi Sempron 2800 laptops but am unsure what would be the best router for setting up my home network in the Uk. Which is the most reliable-Belkin, Link Sys,BT or Cable & Wireless.
I have a Windows XP Home computer with a internet connection via USB from a Dynalink RTA100+. This router has a Ethernet port, i have a ethernet cable to my laptop which has xp pro. How do i get the internet to be working at the same time, using the same router, by using the same router but by diffrent ports.
I have two computers kitchen computer is hooked up to dsl modem, I have a router in the computer in bedroom.I can only connect to the internet thru the computer in the kitchen, the one in the bedroom says that it can not connect to the server.all the wires are connected correctly, but still nothing
I have a client with a DLink DI-804HV VPN Router. They need to connect with PPTP using the Windows XP "Network Connections". I am able to connect to the VPN with no problem. Their IP structure is 192.168.2.x subnet is 255.255.255.0 and DHCP is turned on with a range of 192.168.2.2 - 254 If I have a user from the PC #1 with 192.168.2.100 ping the PC #2 with 192.168.2.200 then he gets replies with no problem. If I ping him PC #1 (192.168.2.100) I get a reply through the VPN. If I ping PC #2 (192.168.2.200) I get no reply.
So, I had him take the PC #2 192.168.2.200 out of the network (unplug the ethernet) and manually change his IP PC#1 to 192.168.2.200 I cannot ping him. If he changes his IP to anything other than the one DHCP gives him I can't ping him. The only option I can find for the PPTP server settings in the DI-804HV is "Virtual IP of PPTP Server" which I have tried changing to 192.168.5.x and 10.0.0.x with no luck on either.
I have two PCs here that both have fresh installs of XP. One is XP w/ SP2 the other is a Compaq branded version. Neither machine will get on the net. They are both using a Cat5 Ethernet connection to a router. I can get to the net fine with my other PC which is connected to the same router. I can ping the router from either of the problem boxes, but can't get to the router setup page from the browser on either one. I am assuming that it is not spyware related, since the machines have never reached the net.I am sure this must been something small I have overlooked due to a brain fade.
All right here is my story and my problem.I am using router Thomson Speedtouch 780 WL and Windows XP SP 2 Version 2002. Everything worked well until one day my connection dropped and now doesn't work. I reseted router and couldn't set it up again on my PC! (web browser doesn't open router webpage) but it worked everything well for laptop. My PC doesn't say like router would be unplugged, but it says that my connection is "Limited or no connectivity". I can't even use Mail programs/MSN on my PC, but all works on wifi/laptop using cable. My config settings seem to be same as on laptop and I reinstalled my ethernet driver but nothing has got better.
I have my 3 computers hooked up to a router. On my main PC, I use to be able to boot up my computer directly to my desktop. For some reason now I need to click on my user id name to get to my desktop. How can I stop this from happening so I can logon directly to my desktop? OS is XP Pro.
My computer and router was setup by a friend once and Remote Desktop worked great! Now I've replaced the originla router with a new DLINK DI-624. I have no idea how to configure the router.
I am running two computers(One PC and a Laptop, both on XP) on a small network. I have a Motorola Cable Modem, and a Motorola Wireless Router, which seems to be working fine. I can connect to the internet on the Laptop. However, the PC is the one that cannont. I'm not sure what is happening, but I've tried rebooting the PC and unpluging the modem for few seconds, but nothing yet. The Local Area Connection says-"Acquiring network address." And my IP address is currently 0.0.0.0
