My friends XP crashed so I leant them my recovery disc (my old pc had XP this one has vista), when the xp recovery disc didn't work for them, they used my Acer Vista one which has half or more loaded vista and stalled probably because the lap top is to old to handle it. Anyway there is a blue Acer loading screen doing nothing and the vista programs run behind it which makes it difficult to see what you're doing. They brought it around to me as I can use this pc to see what I'm doing and try and fix there's more or less by feel, if that makes sense. They tried reinstalling my xp disc but vista seems to super seed it and it wont take, which doesn't surprise me.
IcrediMail XE, it's half way installed and stuck there, hasn't moved in the last hour, so I cannot uninstall it at Ad or Remove. How I got it in the first place I do not remember,
If I install Vista RC1 it will create a dual boot system. I want to create a separate partition for the Vista which is no problem. When and if it comes time to uninstall Vista. What is the best way to do this? How do I go back and get that partition that was created as part of my original partition and how do I get the master boot record back to the original single boot Windows XP?
last night i decided to format my pc, so i formated it and tried to reinstall vista, the reinstallation worked fine but then it said i had to have a old version of windows for me to activate, because its an upgrade version.i then formated AGAIN and tried to clean-install XP so i could then upgrade to my vista but during my reinstallation of xp it stopped working. this is where it may get confusing haha, after the first part of the xp install it restarts (the first part meaning where it formats and copys all the files to memory) but just after it restarts it comes up with the screen "press any key to boot to CD." i let it go because ur not ment to boot to cd after that, but on that same screen it comes up with a few different coloured boxes on the screen and it just hangs.
I want to clean my son's system by wiping the HD and then reinstall XP Home Edition. I've done this many times before with Windows 98 - it was a straightforward process. With 98 I created a startup diskette, wiped the HD, and then re-booted with the floppy and reinstalled 98.I've never done this before on XP. I have the DELL Reinstallation XP CD (Service Pack 1) and I have the 25 character Product ID stamped on the sides of the PC so that should be straightforward. I've backed up my son's files to CD. Do I need to create a startup floppy?
First of all I meant to say internet explorer not XP lol....Hey guys I have an ongoing problem that I cannot seem to fix, right now this thread is on like 2 other forums and they do not know hwat to say to help so maybe you guys do. The problem is, if I go to a website such as tmobile.ocm/jobs or bet's 106th and park the picture wuill pop up for a sec and go away, which seems to be a flash issue but isnt, one because I have deleted and reinstalled flash 3 times and 2, this is only a problem with IE not Mozilla, its fine with it. So my question is, how do I uninstall and reinstall IE without an XP cd?
Have been told by MSN and Verizon that my MSN software has been corrupted. Verizon wants to know a dial up number for reinstallation, but I am on a cable modem and do not have a dial up any more. Is there some way to delete corrupted files and then reinstall MSN?Last time I tried, the corrupted files were the result. Also, when I shut computer down, I get an error message indicating run32dll.exe is not responding and I have to order it to "end now" in order to shut down. When I boot computer up, it is very slow identifying sites I normally visit everyday. IE: Net Address, my email service.
First I had win 95 on my computer than win 98 and then win 98 2nd Edition. I installed Win XP Pro with the SP2. All went well but I had to add some driver etc.I feel that it is not working correctly as there is another computer a friend has with the same program but it works differently. Sorry but I cannot explain it. I'm an old retired person and trying to understand these things.I would like to uninstall Xp and then reinstall. Will I need to go through the driver bit again and will any of my other programs be affected in a way that I might need to do something with them?
I'm sure this has been asked a 100 times, but I'm new. Microsoft has told me I have to reinstall windows xp, but being a rookie can I do it myself or should I have it done. If I can do it some one explain like I'm in 4th grade.
hHave everything backed up and now the bandits at dell want over $200 to "guide" me thru the process of the uninstall. The problem occurred while under warranty, but now it's expired. Any help for a neophyte is appreciated. Running XP Media centre edition and have disks. Also, have error message on task bar that master drive failed and have to rebuild the volume.
I went into my control panel to access my add/remove programs to do a few things. I can't get past "Please wait while the list is being populated..."-And that's where it ends. I have tried to look into it a couple different ways and haven't gotten anywhere. I need to be able to get into add/remove programs so I can uninstall MS Office and reistall a new copy with valid license. Note:

I am running Windows XP with a 40GB HD which has only 32MB free space. I installed another 80GB HD as a second (slave). How do I move some programming (applications) to the new HD without having to uninstall and reinstall?
i'm trying to uninstall Adobe Audition 3.0 so i can reinstall, but everytime it gets to the "remove" part of the uninstallation process it freezes. i tried deleting it manually through "run>regedit" but its still there even through it is no longer in "add/remove programs" or "run>regedit" ..i tried reinstalling just in case, but it had me remove or repair previous versions of AA3, and both options still cause it to freeze.
I'm unsbale to either reinstall or uninstall I-Tunes. An error says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. I run Windows XP.
I need to uninstall IE7 then reinstall it. The problem is that pesky German thing again. I don't know is I should save my stuff or just do a clean install and then have to reput in all my stuff. Which would be okay. The reason I don't want the uninstaller deal in 7 to save my stuff is because I am afraid that some of that will be in German then here we go again!! This whole thing is because I can't install the English version of Adobe Flash.
Os windows XP professional .Internet explorer is not working properly. The internet explorer does not appear in the add & remove programs in control panel .How do I remove it and reinstall it.I tried repair it with downloads does not work out well.
My QuickTime player has gone lu-lu....for the second time. This is my situation. I am unable to view videos(from my digital camera) and unable to access some websites. The problem arises when I try to view a video, downloaded to my computer, from my digital camera. This is the error signature:AppName: realplay.exe AppVer: 11.0.0.431 ModName: quicktime.qts odVer: 7.2.0.240 Offset: 000cd909 I'm also advised that my Quicktime player is out of date and to please update. OK...I try that, then get the message:QuickTime player is not properly installed. Please reinstall. So I go to Add & Remove Programs and first attempt to "Repair QuickTime", which is unsuccessful. Then I try to uninstall but can't because files are missing.I'm running Windows XP SP2, IE6(don't like IE7) on a Dell Dimension 8200, 512MB ram. My technical/computer skills are limited!
I recently installed Windows Live One Care on my computer. After installing it, I attempted to open it but had no success. An error message pops up and says "Windows Live One Care has encountered a problem and needs to close." It gives me the option to Send Error Report or to Not Send Error Report. This happens constantly everyime i try to open it. I can not reinstall this program because it is not listed in my Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. Also, I tried using their (Microsoft's) uninstaller and i get this message.

And if some kind person knows of any reason for the occurrence that would be welcome also.Sys is xp sp2, Dell 8400 with 1 gig memory.
I had Windows ME and upgraded to XP via the upgrade disk. All went well and I was asked to uninstall Norton Internet Security before installing again to take "make it work again" in the new environment.I am trying to reinstall but for some reason, the NAV install window keeps telling me there is an existing copy of NAV that I have to remove before I can install again.I've searched through the normal areas but am having no luck. These include the Add/Remove facility, Windows Explorer, and the Search facility.
I was installing some Ulead software when the power went out half way through. I can't unstall the software through add/remove even after deleting the temp folders (like the error told me to do). Software won't reinstall until first attempt uninstalls. How can I get around this?
