Apr 22, 2007
I have a new hp media center pc m7750n that came witih vista installed. I have put xp back on it twice. The first time was just xp home.the second was xp64 corporate edition. both times after i ntsall i can not see my ethernet connection. i have tried using the connection wizard to no avail. Im assuming imight need a motherboard drriver but dont know where to find the one i need. also im puttting xp on a seperate hd and im having trouble using both at the same time. it says bootmgr missing when i install the xp drive. even though when i installed xp on the drove with the vista drive unplugged it work fine to begin with, now even though i unplugged the vista drive it still says that. im assuming i can repair the installation. my main worry though is the ethernet connection.

Original running program on my computer when purchased was windows vista. Im a graphic designer and my programs had issues, so my tech changed my system to xp. I'm trying to go wireless with an ethernet hook-up and there's no connection. Upon looking further into, I cannot find the driver. Is there one out there that I can download for free

Im new, so bear with me please. The problem is on my old Sony Viao Model PCG-6H4L XP. I wanted to start fresh and the recovery system for windows gives me only a limited number of dates. I thought that the Viao recovery would do the job.I was wrong. I haven't checked recent forums about problems with this, so I went ahead and broke my laptop. Before the Recovery system starts, my laptop says, with a black background.

My PC is running absolutely stable (7 hours of orthos). Just bought this EVGA motherboard and swapped it in place of an Asrock motherboard and got everything running, overclocked and stable. Before I got Windows XP running (previous installation from the asrock mobo), I encountered an issue and i isolated it down to one of the 200gb 7200.7 SATA HD's.IF this HD is plugged in when the PC boots, then the Windows XP Boot screen appears and hangs. NOTE: it DOES NOT freeze - the bar still moves, but there is no HD activity and the pc stays like this for hours on end. Note again - this is not a hang. the activity bar still moves from left to right, and it keeps doing this indefinitely it seems (with no HD activity from any drives). IF this HD is not plugged in, the PC boots in straight away. All drivers are tip top (nforce drivers, SATA drivers). However if I hot-plug this drive from within Windows, it works fine!. The PC just doesn't boot with the HD plugged in.

I have just got a phone plug in my room so I do not have to use my USB adaptor for my wireless broadband as it keeps losing the signal. I now have the router in my room using the Ethernet hole on my new MSI K8T Neo2-F V2.0 Motherboard, but every time I try and download a file it is corrupted. I have tried many different file just in case it was that. This did not work so I tried using my USB adopter and every thing downloads fine again. The driver for it is Realtek rtl8169/8110 family GIGABIT ETHERNET NIC and this is the web site for the motherboard nhttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3318077&CatId=15

I cannot create a system restore point, nor is System Retore creating any automatically. I tried rebooting my system, using the check/uncheck box in system properties, using the "Run" line, and trying to run System Restore in Safe Mode. I also tried copying the "framedyn.dll" from the windowssystem32wbem directory to the Windowssystem 32 directory (I don't know if it's supposed to be there or not. The only option I have
left that I know of is to reinstall Windows XP.

I just recently re-formatted my Dell Dimension 3000 at work. I didn't have the original system disks and just installed a vanilla copy of XP Home. For some reason it will not read the ethernet port, making it difficult for me to install any new programs, or the obvious (get on the internet).

I have a Sony Vaio VGN NR160 E which came with Vista Home Premium. Actually it's crashing repeatedly because of an outdate touch pad driver "apfiltr.sys". But I have not been able to find a newer updated version for the same! So I am thinking of reverting back to Win XP.

I'm trying to make a dual boot system Vista/XP with my HP Media Center purchased in 2007 with Vista pre-installed. Inside Vista I created the partition for XP (disk D and rebooted with the 'XP Pro SP2' inside. After selecting its correct partition for installing it copies all files on hard disk and it reboots in order to start its installation, upon rebooting and starting first time from hard disk, it says that there is an error in the system and stops. If I install only XP on the system it works correctly even though some newest hardware is not recognized. I had already made a dual boot two years ago with a 2007 XP Student Edition and it smoothly. If it is due to the XP version being too old that maybe cannot deal with the boot record created by Vista
Or perhaps such an old XP cannot recognize a boot hard disk that is not C:?
Is there a way to bypass this point (perhaps fixing the boot record) in order to continue correctly the installation?
Thank you,
Al

So far I created a partition on the same drive (C: ) as Vista and installed XP on it. how do I choose between Vista and XP when my computer boots up? When I turn on my computer it boots straight into XP and doesn't show that menu where it gives me a choice of which OS I want to boot

I initially started with XP and created a separate partition for Vista, installing Vista on the other partition, Vista sees the (XP) Earlier version of windows. When I choose XP, I get the following error: NTOSKRNL.EXE is missing or corrupt. If I repair the XP with fixmbr - I end up screwing up Vista. Then when I repair Vista, it end's screwing up XP

i swapped the motherboard from my pc which was running vista to our older pc which is running xp not only that but i put a new 300gig drive in the xp machine and was planning to clean install xp again however it wont let me boot into xp setup it gets to the first screen you know where its preparing setup files etc.. then after that i get the blue screen with the error 0x0000007B, the hard drive is being detected and all should work fine i have removed everything from the motherboard but the bare essentials, and the interesting thing is when i run the vista install cd it gets to the setup steps without a hitch so im wondering does vista affect something on the motherboard when it has been previously installed which prevents xp from being installed again? and if so how do i reset it back to factory condition, i have already tried resetting cmos to defaults,

I have a laptop, HP dv6000, with Vista previously installed. Yesterday, I created a partition on my hard drive and installed XP on it. So, ideally, I should have two windows system installed. Maybe in fact, there are 2 systems installed. However, the problem is after I installed XP, it directly loaded into XP without letting me choose which system I wanted to load into when I restarted the pc. In other words, I can not log in my vista system now.

I currently have XP on the first partition, and I later added Vista on another partition as a dual boot. For various reasons, I need to reinstall XP. That involves formatting the first partition and installing a clean XP.It just occurred to me that doing that might mess up the dual boot functionality.Should I be concerned, and if so, what can I do to avoid the problem?

I'm currently running Vista on a raid 0 array, and want to dual with XP. I have two partitions, one with vista and the other that I tried installing XP on. After it finishes the initial installation and restarts it says to press any key to boot from the CD. I wait without pressing anything and than it says that there was an error reading the disk. If I remember correctly, after it restarts it goes strait into windows setup. This happens every time I try restarting, but I can get back into vista by putting the hard drive to boot first. In vista I can see the other partition where XP was installed, and inside is just a folder titled WINDOWS and it seems like all the windows files are in there

I want to dual-boot this machine with Windows XP, and the reason is: Vista is making Halo:Combat Evolved (my favorite online game) very slow at 20fps. This may be nVidia's fault, but people who use XP and have the same (or closely similar) hardware and drivers as me don't have this problem. I have 50GB of free hard drive space. Windows Vista is my current OS. I love Halo so much I am willing to drop some more cash into my computer to dual boot with Vista and XP so I can play it s'more.

I managed to create a new partition on my Compaq Presario C700 laptop and install XP. (It came with Vista).First thing I noticed was that I can not detect any wireless networks or connect to the internet now. I am assuming that I need that driver and a whole bunch of other XP drivers as well. I have visited websites where they have a whole laundry list of drivers to download for my situation. Before I go through the painful process of downloading and installing all of them, I want to make sure this is really what I need to do.
