- packard bell logo ( few seconds )
- windows loading bar (+-10 seconds)
At all the other forums where I've volunteered, they treat ALL registry cleaners, reputable or not, as poison, if used by non-techies. At the very least they're considered a waste of time, as they don't really speed things up. If using CCLeaner, many techies say to use all the features except the registry cleaner part.I'd like to hear what other professionals here think. Don't even bother discussing the sleazy ones.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn the past, I didn't have to defrag for about a month or two, now, I have to defrag every second day. I usually run the 'analyze' feature first before I defrag, if it says so. Is defragging every 2 days too often? Why is that happening and could it be corrected if it is exessive? I'm using Win XP.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just installed XP, over ME. Then afterward, I got a message that went something like; " disc space dangerously low on D:/. If you continue system restore may not function properly, to undo any harmful changes..." . After checking my available space on C drive it was 26+ Gigs. I never could download my photos because it would kick me out of the program half way through.
View 8 Replies View Relatedbasically i got this very old and cheap brandless webcam, it came with a mini-cdr which holds the drivers, when i place the mini-cdr into my dvd drive, it made a load ###scccrreeeaaaccchhhing### noise, then the installer runs and i got the error shown in the top of the pic, as i continue the installation i got another error, shown at the botton of the pic, now i know maybe the disc is corroupt or something, so i decided to use device manager to install the drivers manually.
when windows did found the driver on the disc, it turns out to be a notepad file, which was strange, but i continue to install anyway, but windows pops up a message saying the driver isn't signed or could be harmful or something like that, i cancel the installation and uplugs the camera. i thought it made sense since the mini-cdr could actually be a coaster or a badly burnt disc, as the installer states there's an error, but should i try anyways? i was thinking if i click yes when device manager ask me and continue to manually install the drivers would i damage my pc? when i place the mini-cdr in my dvd drive, it made a very load screeeeaachhhing noises, did the disc damage the lens or the drive?
I use cleaner but that's the only one i have. Are there any other good cleaners so that i can keep my system clean with out any virus problem and can operate my system properly.
I am trying to defragment my hard drive /C/, but does about 14% and then it stops saying : Can not defrag 456 fragments / 46,46 gigs / file name EVREM. Did complete antivirus check-up, no virus found / Avast /.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am well above the 15% required by windows but for some reason it won't defrag properly with the default defrag on windows. I also tried another program that did the same.
The log gives the following errors. I also had used ccleaner and all kinds of reg cleaners prior to use
I recently took the advice of a friend & purchased Disk Keeper 10 Pro Premier. So, I've now used it twice since getting it & today after defragging my drive I notice this warning in the 'Job Report' after defragmentation;
Health
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warning!
The overall health of volume C: is degraded
The overall health is at "Warning" level for the following
reasons:
1. The MFT usage was currently 85 percent of the total MFT
size, which indicates it is likely the MFT will become
fragmented.
I've read the help files othat came with the program & ran a 'Boot-Time Defragmentation' for the MFT - everything seems to have ran smoothly, except now after that process & another regular defrag the report states that the MFT usuage is currently 86%, now from my understanding (which is very little) shouldn't the percentage decrease after running this process?
I recently defragged my computer a few days ago. I started out with 14.9GB left on my C: drive (total capacity is 69.7GB) and ended with 3.2GB! I was highly upset, I don't know what could have gone wrong to cause my free space to almost completely deplete...does this usually happen? I also want to know if i can get my space back, and what I can do.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere used to be a way to move unmoveable files to the end when defragging in older windows programs but I have been told that you cannot do it in XP. I just had my computer worked on and now I have a sign that says alaska that comes up on booting and a mess of hotrod programs running in the background and two sections of unmoveable files. I dont know what the Alaska and Hotrod files are or what they do or if I can remove them but I have been told that they are the first unmoveable files.Should I just forget it and leave them alone or is there a simple fix?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI want to backup my Autocomplete User Names and Passwords, Web Addresses, and Forms entries in the registry. What are the registry addresses for these items?
I tried to delete the registry entries which were bad, I had 30 of them, but the these two will just not go away, even by doing them manually, such as saving as a backup then deleting it manually and remerging. They just show up no matter what I do, or so use programs like Registry Mechanic, which I found only mediocre, very far from the ratings. to delete these two entries somehow from someone who is actully knows how to without using several so called registry cleaners, which only work partially.

On my box at home, I have Norton System Works, which contains a registry diagnostic/sweeper.At work, where I run Windows 2000 Pro, I was wondering...I know there are various registry diagnostic & cleaner utilities out there on the web, but I thought I had heard that Windows itself either includes one on the OS disc or makes one available for download. Is there such a thing as an official Windows Registry utility?

View 8 Replies View RelatedOkay, a few months ago i installed an app called REGISTRY MECHANIC. it was supposed to make my computer work better. after compacting the registry, i restarted to find out the laptop didn't start any more.a few months went by and finally i got a copy of WINDOWS XP HOME. i went into the REPAIR CONSOLE and replaced the boot sectors and the mbr boot sectors... still nothing... so,i went ahead and installed WINDOWS XP HOME... now, when it starts up it asks me to choose between 2 versions of WINDOWS, the older one or the new one...so, now MY DOCUMENTS a nowhere to be found...what i'm thinking i need to do is reformat the drive and use the installer cd that came with the laptop to get it up and running again (drivers, etc.)...but, there's one problem:
I have uninstalled several programs from my computer.
I was wondering if it is safe to delete the system file in the Registry? or if something bad would happen?
I have several registry cleaning tools on my PC like registry mechanic,WinASO registry Optimizer and those included in my programs ASMW PC-Optimizer,Tune-up utilities and WinTools.net Professional. One thing I am puzzled is that all the registry cleaning tools have found certain problems when I run one after another.Once i completed my registry scan using all above tools and fix all problems,I can't understand why a number of registry problems still exist the next day.I did not carry out any important task other than just spend the most 1 hr of web surfing.
Recommend a more powerful registry cleaning tool to curb such problem.
What are recommended programs for cleaning your registry? I tried to use Registry Mechanic, but for some reason it gave me the error message that it could not locate the file map.dat,I verified that the file was there in the correct location. Are there any other programs I could try?
