I was deleting one email in an outlook folder (a personal folder), and the entire folder and contents--all emails--disappeared. Can't find them anywhere...They did not go to the delete folder. Any way to retrieve them? Do you know what happened? (I have Windows XP.)

I have recently had to perform a complete system recovery on my computer because I had lost control. The computer kept shutting down and starting up on its' own. I tried everything I could before I did a recovery, but it did not help. I thought I had all my important files backed up but that was not the case. My question is, can I retrieve any files now that I have done a complete system restore? I am trying to retrieve all my Quicken files. How would I go about it?

I couldn't figure it out so I set back my computer to an earlier date and it was back to normal.Shut down my computer again and I have the new version of Outlook again with no address or emails. Any thoughts on what is going on and how I can get this fixed?

I then moved them back and it did not bring them back. The files are in my documents, I have tried to import them back into Outlook Express and it does not work, it only goes back to 2 months ago. I'm trying to set up a new computer for a charity, just one problem they did not back up their email addresses and emails on outlook express from their last machine (which failed) so what do we do to restore everything? just wondered if anyone knew WHERE on the hard drive does outlook express store its emails and email addresses?
He goes into his INBOX and reads his emails. He does not delete the emails he has read and then he signs off. When he goes back into OE the read emails are now in his DELETED folder. I have checked the settings and cannot seem to find anything that he may have selected in error and cannot stop this from happening?

Since my upgrade, whenever I send an email to multiple recipients, each recipient gets multiple emails to the numer I sent out. e.g. If I send an email to 10 people in the "to" box, each person gets 10 identical emails.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a complete computer failure & got a new one. Qwest-MSN helped w/ reloading all my preveous emails. Then I began having error messages that "OE has encountered unknown problems & has to shut down" or it would just freeze up for no reason. Emails were coming in in duplicats. (2 of every email in the inbox) (*This problem is still happening)
They had me delete my account & start over several times. Then they forwarded me all my emails they had on their system. OVER 1,000 BEGAN COMING IN! NONE TO THE INBOX! (hidden file) We put a stop to it and began searching where these were being hidden. Since getting the new computer I have not been able to get Spell Check in my OE 6.0 I am told 6.0 does not have this. I had it before changing computers and I used 6.0 then also.
few days back i lock folder with folder lock software. but now i cant retrieve that folder.

Unable to send or recieve email due to error telling me that my temp folder is full or corrupted. I have emptied the temp folders with disk cleanup and have also run ScanDisk. I have a temp folder with a path of (c:) Is this correct. I do not have a temp folder with a path of c:windows.

I got a message from Outlook asking permission to compress my e-mail file folders. It's done this before and I've always let it with no problem.I fired up my computer yesterday and discovered that all my e-mail folders, all received and sent messages have disappeared.I thought my wife may have accidentally erased the files so I checked the Recycle Bin. What are they ways to export the emails (including the ones in my personalized folders) to the new PC. View 7 Replies View RelatedIn the Explorer folders in my Windows XP Pro, suddenly, I no longer have the icons I normally use--such as X for delete, and the cut, copy, and paste icons, which are mainstays of my work in the Explorer panels.
When I right click in the upper panel of the folder and open the customize panel, I put the icons I need at the top of the folder. Yes, I know that the panel on the left in the folders has many of the functions that the icons serve, such as delete, rename, etc. BUT... after I put all the icons I need at the top, as soon as I close and reopen the folder, the icons have disappeared!!What is going on? How come? Home come I can't set the icons I need for all Explorer folders at one time??I'm hoping someone can help me fix this!
My computer did this really weird thing. I restarted my computer this morning, and to my horror, all my documents had disappeared. There were only three folders in my documents - My Music, My Pictures and My Videos, and these only contain the standard sample stuff. Basically, my user is like new again! All my installed programs were there however.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, reciently I've discovered that my C:WindowsSystem32 folder is gone. Just gone. And it seems that any time a program tries to open something in that folder, it just pops up and says that the file is missing or whatnot.
1. The files are still there. I can access them through IE by typing in the dir in the address bar.
2. The folder is supposedly "Hidden," but I have it set to view all hidden files and folders.
Yesterday I decided to cut and paste a 1.3 gig folder from one partition to another on a seperate drive. The file transfer proceeded, however, after a couple of minutes a message appeared saying it couldn't move the folder as it was currently being used by another program. I closed notepad which was the program involved. I then went to the partition where the folder was originally kept but the folder was not present. I went to partition where I had attempted to move the folder and found the folder but it was completely empty. Somewhere on my drives is 1.3 gig of infornmation in about six files,
