Outlook Exporting And Achiving: Exporting Emails To New Pc?
Jun 3, 2005
I currently have Outlook 2000 and have purchased a new PC and will be installing Office XP. What are they ways to export the emails (including the ones in my personalized folders) to the new PC. When I export I loose the dates and attachments, which is logical as a windows comma file can not support attachment. On the subject are there any friendly ways or archiving email, preferably in the folders I have created, I know Outlook has an archive but could never work out how to open them again.
From my old computer I exported my address book, however when I imported it into my new computer none of the folders within my address book files where there Did I do something wrong, or do these folders not export/import with the address book? The only contacts that were imported on the new computer were those under my 'main contacts', none of the folders within the address book (ie: family, business contacts...etc.) are there.
I am trying export my Outlook Express 6 mail/files etc on ME to a new machine running OE6 and XP.I copied all my messages on a CD as per the export instructions. However when I follow the import instructions (after the stage where I browse to find them again) a message comes up saying that the messages are not there in that file (they are). The export/import of the identities and the message rules worked fine. I just cant get my old messages imported.
I'm trying to export favorites from MSN Explorer. I use MSN as my ISP and I'm unable to figure out how to export my favorites. How can I do this in MSN Explorer?
I have files on my Win 2k machine that I Exported Registry. With my new XP machine, I would like to import them. How does the Registry know where to put them (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS, etc.)?
I am on the computer in one room, networking with a computer in another room.I know you can export registry files onto your hard drive. Do you then have the other computer's regedit import that file?
I exported a backup of the registry to the desktop, and now when I remove that registry back up file from the desktop to another folder, the wallpaper disappears.I tried to import it again from that another folder but it didn't make any difference. I don't want to keep the reg file on my Desktop. How can I restore the registry so my wallpaper shows up, and delete the reg file from the desktop.
When I try to export my address book from OE to a cd I get the message: You do not have permission to save this directory.See the administrator for permission.Seeing that I am the recorded administrator, does anyone know of certain settings that prevent me from exporting the address book even though I am the administrator.
I have several e-mail accounts set up in Outlook on my desktop that I want to port over to a new laptop. It will save me the trouble of having to re-create them all over again on the laptop, plus I'm not sure I can remember all the passwords. On the MS website I've searched for "export email accounts" and several variations on that but have come up with nothing. The only thing I can find is how to import the accounts from Outlook Express into Outlook, which is not what I'm looking for.
I've done a search on my drive to locate all the Power Point files and came up with 1712 results. I need to export these results to a user friendly format (preferably xls) so that I have the name of the file, the location, the size and the date modified. How do I go about doing this? I am also interested in creating a tree diagram that will show the entire structure of my drive, i.e. think something like the explore's bar view folders option with expand all. MS DOS PROMP will give you such an option but it's not really user friendly.

I recently manually moved my email files to a different folder. When I opened Outlook Express all of my emails were GONE. I then moved them back and it did not bring them back. The files are in my documents, I have tried to import them back into Outlook Express and it does not work, it only goes back to 2 months ago. I need to know how to recover my emails back into Outlook Express.

I have recently upgraded to Windows XP, am running Explorer 6, and my email goes thru Outlook Express. Since my upgrade, whenever I send an email to multiple recipients, each recipient gets multiple emails to the numer I sent out. e.g. If I send an email to 10 people in the "to" box, each person gets 10 identical emails.
I use Outlook Express for emails, and since switching on today, I`ve been receiving the same email over and over again.I believe that this soundsl like I have a virus, and I`ve tried to run a virus-scan, but after 3 or 4 minutes, the virus-scan programme is shutting down as well. ( I use "Blueyonder PC Guard" for my virus scanner)Do you think that it`s a virus, or could it be something else ?
I have OE 6. When I delete an email, it then goes to a subfile which I need to go to in order to permanently delete the email. Is there any way to perm. delete multiple emails rather than one by one with the yes/no box checking if you want to perm. delete?

I had a complete computer failure & got a new one. Qwest-MSN helped w/ reloading all my preveous emails. Then I began having error messages that "OE has encountered unknown problems & has to shut down" or it would just freeze up for no reason. Emails were coming in in duplicats. (2 of every email in the inbox) (*This problem is still happening)
They had me delete my account & start over several times. Then they forwarded me all my emails they had on their system. OVER 1,000 BEGAN COMING IN! NONE TO THE INBOX! (hidden file) We put a stop to it and began searching where these were being hidden. Since getting the new computer I have not been able to get Spell Check in my OE 6.0 I am told 6.0 does not have this. I had it before changing computers and I used 6.0 then also.
