Sep 6, 2005I intend to import express emails to outlook. what will i loose if anything, i have heard that i may loose the dates that the emails arrived in outlook, is this correct. i am transferring as i prefer to us outlook for the 'contacts' information which express does not have or does it?

Dec 17, 2005When I shut down my computer it installed a new version of Outlook Express and it no longer had my contacts or emails. I couldn't figure it out so I set back my computer to an earlier date and it was back to normal.Shut down my computer again and I have the new version of Outlook again with no address or emails. Any thoughts on what is going on and how I can get this fixed?

Nov 12, 2006I recently manually moved my email files to a different folder. When I opened Outlook Express all of my emails were GONE. I then moved them back and it did not bring them back. The files are in my documents, I have tried to import them back into Outlook Express and it does not work, it only goes back to 2 months ago. Sep 8, 2009He goes into his INBOX and reads his emails. He does not delete the emails he has read and then he signs off. When he goes back into OE the read emails are now in his DELETED folder. I have checked the settings and cannot seem to find anything that he may have selected in error and cannot stop this from happening?

Nov 15, 2007I had a complete computer failure & got a new one. Qwest-MSN helped w/ reloading all my preveous emails. Then I began having error messages that "OE has encountered unknown problems & has to shut down" or it would just freeze up for no reason. Emails were coming in in duplicats. (2 of every email in the inbox) (*This problem is still happening)
They had me delete my account & start over several times. Then they forwarded me all my emails they had on their system. OVER 1,000 BEGAN COMING IN! NONE TO THE INBOX! (hidden file) We put a stop to it and began searching where these were being hidden. Since getting the new computer I have not been able to get Spell Check in my OE 6.0 I am told 6.0 does not have this. I had it before changing computers and I used 6.0 then also.

I did exactly what it said.NOTHING.Kept looking and found where I was supposed to look for .mbx and rename .mbx old. I did that. all my inbox messages are gone. I closed Email and reopened. I am still getting the error message. When I search for .mbx in hidden files/folders there is no file. I went back to a sys restore to Wednesday, that also didn't work. is there any way to repair the inbox?

I havechecked several times and the smtp address is correct and I can receive mail OK. I think the problem started when I tried to save "sent" mail to my gmail account.

With mine, I get this message: "Error Deleting File or Folder-Cannot delete ntuser.dat: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." Feb 17, 2009Would have posted this in the E-mail forum but everytime that I tried to make a new post, the system would re-direct me to the sign in page (even though I was signed in) so I never got to make a new post in that forum. I have been getting this error message for some time when OE tries to 'compact' my mail files after I close OE. There is no other program in use when this happens.

Oct 28, 2007I am having problems when I try to forward emails from Outlook Express.I can do three or four and then I get an error message saying "low memory".I have a fairly new computer running windows xp home and have hardly any programs on it. Nothing that is eating up all this memory. When I open e-mail (sent) attempting to move e-mails to( Delete) so I can delete them, I receive an Internet Explorer Script Error.There seems to be a seperate script error for each Sent e-mail with different info in the Line-through-url designations. Hitting yes/no eventually removes all the errors notifications but obviously something is wrong. When I open Outlook Express {email} I keep getting messages that "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close".....and it does close when I click on send error report. At times when it does work for awhile, when I click to delete a email, that email won't show as deleted from inbox, but when I then go to the deleted folder it shows up there....checking back at the inbox the email is now gone from the inbox.

It's telling me the host cannot be found, to check that the server name is entered correctly. This began immediately after I clicked the stop button while I was downloading mail and then clicked on send/receive a minute later. My connection to the internet is fine. I checked all the vital information, POP3, SMTP, my password, everything. I removed all the information from my account and reinstalled it, still the same error!
