View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving trouble printing from Internet Explorer 6.0 and Outlook Express 6.0. Word and Acrobat Reader are printing fine. I can also cut and paste from IE or OE to Word and print, but that become a little annoying and time-consuming. When I try to print I do get the print menu, but when I clip on "Print" I don't get any error messages - just. nothing. Also, the print icon doesn't come up or even flash.

My problems with IE and OE(Have windows XP HOme edition) constantly freezing and closing out with error reports started then. It's getting MUCH WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. I have resisted and not downloaded any more SP2 auto updates since.I do virus and spy checks daily--no problems there; no new software recently installed.

Exp. and OUtlook Express closing out with error messages started then but is getting MUCH WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. I also lost these 2 entries from the quick launch bar on the left, beside the START button. Obviously IE is still on the system because I'm here.
I recently 'upgraded' the family computer (running XP pro) with SP2.we've had a number of problems with programs no longer working after the upgrade. More specifically, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Norton, and HP Precisionscan Pro 3.1 (to name a few) are causing us grief.Outlook will load, but as soon as you try and view a new message, the program crashes.Internet Explorer will open, but immediately closes before any page can load. (I've installed Firefox in the meantime, so I'm sure it's not the internet connection).

When I open Outlook Express {email} I keep getting messages that "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close".....and it does close when I click on send error report. At times when it does work for awhile, when I click to delete a email, that email won't show as deleted from inbox, but when I then go to the deleted folder it shows up there....checking back at the inbox the email is now gone from the inbox.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife's friend bought a new EMachine with windowsXP and I was setting up Outlook Express to download her web based email. At first I had the POP3 and SMTP settings wrong and when I fixed them I didn't realize I had both the web based email and Outlook Express open at the same time. Now, whenever she tries to open Outlook Express, all it does is hangs open with "not responding" in the title bar. I can't even access the file menu. Is there any way to fix it short of removing Outlook Express and reinstalling it?

Outlook Express 6 XP.Appended to my Inbox I have folders for different addresses and Message Rules causes the emails to go into the right folders. This has been working well since about 1997. Just clicked on the folder that contains mail received to my most important address and it looks empty.It says in blue next to the folder that there are heaps in there but while all the other folders open fine when I click on this one it does not show any emails and the hour glass comes on and stays on (disallowing any other action in OE from that point on) until I use Control+Alt+Delete to forcibly close Outlook Express.I have been dumping emails from other folders in case it is a capacity thing, have rebooted PC no luck.

Everything seems to work fine apart from when I try to open PDF files directly from OE, it tries to open them with notepad, which obviously doesn't work. I can save them anywhere else on my computer, my documents for example, and opening them from there works fine. I have the latest Adobe Reader. I can't find anyway to tell OE to open these attachments using Adobe Reader.

If I then try to forward this file, either the recipient gets it but is unable to open it or it is scrambled and unreadible... OR... the recipient never recieves it and then I receive 2 or 3 emails (depending on the size of the file) stating FROM: "mail delivery system" and SUBJECT: "delivery status notification". I AM able to upload or forward small files of say 2 or 3 pages without a problem. I've tried to find some setting that I could change but have be unsuccessful.

I havechecked several times and the smtp address is correct and I can receive mail OK. I think the problem started when I tried to save "sent" mail to my gmail account.
When I click on the desktop O.E icon, it's suppose to open O.E. With mine, I get this message: "Error Deleting File or Folder-Cannot delete ntuser.dat: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." I've never received this message before.What do I do to correct this?

I have been getting this error message for some time when OE tries to 'compact' my mail files after I close OE. There is no other program in use when this happens.
