I have powerpoint viewer 2003 which will open .pps and .ppt files on my hard-drive, but will not open them as e-mail attachments received in OE6. This is very inconvenient, and I want to remedy the problem. I do not have MS office 2003, but the stand-alone MS powerpoint viewer 2003. I am using WinXP Media Center Edition, version 2002, with SP2 installed.
I have had a slightly annoying problem with Outlook Express which I use as my default mail client. Everything seems to work fine apart from when I try to open PDF files directly from OE, it tries to open them with notepad, which obviously doesn't work. I can save them anywhere else on my computer, my documents for example, and opening them from there works fine. I have the latest Adobe Reader. I can't find anyway to tell OE to open these attachments using Adobe Reader.
I have Windows xp pro on an IBM Think Center. I can receive, download and print a large file using Outlook Express. If I then try to forward this file, either the recipient gets it but is unable to open it or it is scrambled and unreadible... OR... the recipient never recieves it and then I receive 2 or 3 emails (depending on the size of the file) stating FROM: "mail delivery system" and SUBJECT: "delivery status notification". I AM able to upload or forward small files of say 2 or 3 pages without a problem. I've tried to find some setting that I could change but have be unsuccessful.
I can't open outlook express 6 without getting this error."There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.optonline.net', Server: 'mail.optonline.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Service Temporarily Unavailable', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"
My wife's friend bought a new EMachine with windowsXP and I was setting up Outlook Express to download her web based email. At first I had the POP3 and SMTP settings wrong and when I fixed them I didn't realize I had both the web based email and Outlook Express open at the same time. Now, whenever she tries to open Outlook Express, all it does is hangs open with "not responding" in the title bar. I can't even access the file menu. Is there any way to fix it short of removing Outlook Express and reinstalling it?
When I try to open outlook express I get this message Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact microsoft for further assistance. (0x800c012E, 5). Then when I click ok it says,
Outlook express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be started. Outlook express may not be installed correctly. I have enough disk and memory space. I reinstalled outlook express and then updated it and reinstalled it and its exactly the same. Also had problems with mailwasher.
Outlook Express 6 XP.Appended to my Inbox I have folders for different addresses and Message Rules causes the emails to go into the right folders. This has been working well since about 1997. Just clicked on the folder that contains mail received to my most important address and it looks empty. It says in blue next to the folder that there are heaps in there but while all the other folders open fine when I click on this one it does not show any emails and the hour glass comes on and stays on (disallowing any other action in OE from that point on) until I use Control+Alt+Delete to forcibly close Outlook Express.I have been dumping emails from other folders in case it is a capacity thing, have rebooted PC no luck.
I can send and receive email without any problems, also photos and PowerPoint slide shows. But I receive some email that contains text which I can read but in the same email is a photo etc but where the photo is, there is a box with a red x in it which doesn't open.I am using XP home edition.
I have XP and Use Outlook Express. I cannot open any links I am sent in emails. I get a blank screen when I try. I saw a similar question in this forum from tony 007 and went to the link he received as an answer from Tufnuf. I ran all the .dll suggestions and I still have the problem.
I have Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 7.0 in all 3 computers, but this particular computer displays the error message whenever it open Outlook Express. After I click the "OK" button and close the message window, everything works fine.It appears to be associated with Windows Messenger 5.1.0701, which I don't use and don't have running in the background.
Windows XP totally up to date. I think. When I open Outlook Express {email} I keep getting messages that "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close".....and it does close when I click on send error report. At times when it does work for awhile, when I click to delete a email, that email won't show as deleted from inbox, but when I then go to the deleted folder it shows up there....checking back at the inbox the email is now gone from the inbox.
Get an Internet Explorer Script Error when I open Outlook Express. It reads: An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line 229, Char 1, Error: Object doesn't support this property or method. Code:0.
I'm trying to take a shortcut in Outlook Express using it's mail modification security feature to filter out spam emails. I would like to be able to copy and paste all of my "spam rules" from my computer onto the system of other family members using a USB storage device. This would end up saving considerable time by avoiding the input of over 150 words (this amount is always growing), one at a time, into each computers OE mail modification security feature. I've look in the WINOWS folder and can't find where the OE files are all kept, and specifically, the spam rules. I've been to the OE folder before but can't remember for the life of me what the address is.
I suddenly find that I am unable to view .jpg file attchments that I receive on my e-mails -- I am using Outlook Express. When I attempt to view I receive a message "action is only valid for products that are installed".I looked thru help and options but unable to find anything to reslove

I have Windows XP Home operating and use Microsoft Office 2000. Under Internet Options I have selected Outlook Express for my email service and this has been working satisfactorily for over 2 years. Recently when choosing to send a photo file as an email attachment, I get directed to Microsoft Outlook which has no "send" option. Two other users on my computer have no problems and automatically get Outlook Express for the same procedure. Why doesn't Outlook Express come up for me?
Old system had many .dbx files but zero .pst files - no export/backup had ever been done on it. Tried to copy over the .dbx files, and appeared to work, but then somehow outlook clobbered old and copied .dbx files, or rendered them invisible.
I got a message from Outlook asking permission to compress my e-mail file folders. It's done this before and I've always let it with no problem.I fired up my computer yesterday and discovered that all my e-mail folders, all received and sent messages have disappeared.I thought my wife may have accidentally erased the files so I checked the Recycle Bin. There were several .bak files with the same names of the file folders.I figured hit the restore button and the files would be restored.
I have ended up with DBX files on"Windows XP service pack 3"but cannot read them or change them. Is there a way to save them elsewhere on my hard drive
when Outlook Express removed all my attached files in my email by claiming that the attachments were unsafe. May I know how to stop Outlook Express from doing so in order that I can read the attached files
I have xp home edition operating system and My Outlook Express folder is tottally empty. When I tried to use my existing xp programe disk, I received the message that my current system was updated & couldn't use the disk to download the outlook files. After installing Windows XP Home it disabled my Outlook & Outlook Express. When I try to open either program, a message states that it is an out-of-date version, then the windows installer comes up, then an error saying it cannot find 'omint.dll' cannot be found. I have tried to reinstall Outlook from XP, then from Office 2003 disks (original and a second copy with service packs), but I cannot get installer to install the programs
