I have Lenovo laptop with 160GB Hard disk,1 GB RAM running on Windows Server 2003 SP1 32 bit.All of a sudden I cannot browse the net either Internet Explorer or Firefox, although my laptop says i am connected to wireless with Excellent signal strength, but the browser won't display any web pages.

I have a problem with one of the Windows XP computers. lets call it Laptop.Laptop can see all of the other computers that put out Windows-accessible shares and can browse any folder that shows up in its own Network Neighborhood.
Everybody can see Laptop in Network Neighborhood
Everybody can see the shares on Laptop -- and everybody sees the same list of shares
Everybody can browse Laptop's C-drive and E-Drive.
No one can browse either Laptop's main user's My Documents or the general Shared Documents folders.

I am using windows XP pro and all has been great. Suddenly, today I can no longer surf. All I get is page cannot be found. I have checked with the cable company and everything is fine on there end. under IPCONFIG I have correct address and dns servers. The cable company thinks it is a firewall issue on my end. I have windows firewall disabled and uninstalled all Norton products.

Rechecked My Pictures via My Docs and there it was. Trouble is I can't load to Desktop from there as it has to be from the Browse window. In normal mode, internet explorer will not display any web pages. However, if you try
to bring up any site (By IP, or URL) and let it sit there for 30 minutes, it will eventually. Then, once it brings up a single page, you can browe. BUT ONLY IF YOU ACTUALLY TYPE "HTTP://" AT THE START OF THE URL OR Click on a link on the page it finally brings up. Now, to make matters worse, it does not exhibit any of these problems in Safe Mode With Networking. In that mode, everything works perfect. I can browse with no lag what so ever, I can do just about anything.

We found a fix by going into My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types, selecting the XLS file type, clicking the advanced button, and then checking the browse in same window check box. This works great. But we have one customer who's checkbox is disabled, and we can't figure out why. He's running xp pro sp2, and logged in as the administrator.

Also, after shutting down the AOL, Windows XP would shut down the parental control program saying that it was malfunctioning. So I decided to delete the parental control program from my hard drive, and I used the uninstall program of the parental control program to uninstall it. After the uninstall, I noticed that I could dial and use the AOL browser as usual, but I could not use Internet Explorer. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop died and I removed the hard drive.I hooked the hard drive up to my new laptop via a SATA/IDE cable.I can see the old hard drive in the E drive and it appears that all the contents are there by the size of the hard drive (same as when I had it in the old laptop) but I can only see, actually view, a very small percentage of the drive. My goal: I want to transfer all old music, word documents and photos from old laptop into new laptop.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been given a laptop (dell latitude l400) which has had the hard drive wiped clean. All i have is the floppy drive.When i run the XP boot disk, i get an error message of ' bootinfo.inf', whereas when i run a 98 boot disk it does at least get further but stops at the C: prompt but cannot get anything else to work.
I have run a Dir check and found that all the hard drive recognises is the command file. Also i have tried an external cd drive but cannot get the laptop to recognise it.
I have brand new acer .I have disabled a few things but could do with a bit of help on the rest.Trouble is I am not too sure what they are for,tried reading the manual,ended up even more confused.I basically go on I.E and Google things and read this website,that's about it.

Windows is verifying files and folders
Checks until 100% completed then shows "Windows has made corrections to file system".
Then goes back to windows is starting up and then log in again. Cannot find a way to break this loop. Is this virus or Windows fixing itself. Problem started out of the blue, nothing like it before (over 18 months).
how can i get rid of it?
