I have Pc with P.III 667 and 192 Mbit Ram and currently run in winme. I want to upgrade into window xp pro, with new installment in window xp, unfortunately, is wasn't work at all. What i had face the problem is, when copied xp files to my hard disk is have some error file occur. Is the driver problem or my pc can;t support at all.

Vista was installed on my pc. I want to install XP Pro. I come to a point wherer I get a message that says oembios.bin could not be copied during the beginning og installation. Everything else get copied. Now after the installation it I get I message that preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0�80070002. I searched and get a solution on this issue as well (By expanding OEMBIOS.BI_ and move the OEMBIOS.BIN to the SYSTEM 32 folder in Safe mode).
When restarting windows the desktop background image is blue and a lot of windows programs are missing (Internet Explorer, Remote desktop and more). It doesn't let me even get into msconfig. Now, I know that the installation disc work perfect and it isn't the cd. I do have a HP_Recovery partition and tempted to format it but I also don't want to face any complications later on. But it seems that it is HP_Recovery that blocks xp instalation out, since it indicates that the laptop is locked to VISTA in BIOS.
This fault occurs on my brothers Win Xp machine, with the machine going round in the usual startup loop and never getting to windows. When booting from the XP cd, he can't use the recovery utility, because he can't remember the Administrators password.On one occassion in the recovery utility, we somehow managed to start windows (really don't know how, because it hasn't worked since).

View 1 Replies View RelatedDell optiplex gx240, 20 gb, 256 mb p4, I try installing xp pro with the dell reinstallation disk and it will go thru format,creates a list of files to be copied, starts copying files, then stops after about 3-4% and says file cannot be copied. I hit escape to skip file but continues with file after file until windows stops installation. It starts not copying .tff and .dll files. I have changed hds, cdrom,different disk, tried xp pro and 2000 with the same results.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a 250GB Seagate USB 2.0 external hard drive to free up my internal HD. XP does not seem to like it. I have copied many small files to the new drive with no problem. However I just tried to copy some large video files to it without success. The external drive has 230GB free. However when I try to copy a 12.4GB file from my system to the external HD, XP tells me there is not enough room and that I should delete files beore trying again. There is plenty of room on th external HD and XP has got it wrong. The weird thing is that when I right click on the external drive's icon and view it's properties, XP tells me there is 230GB free.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recorded a move off of television onto a dvd, and now I want to edit out the commercials and burn a new copy for myself. What is some good software to do this with? I have Adobe Premiere 6.0, but I cannot seem to get that to work with this dvd. I was able to decrypt it to my hard drive. I am very familiar with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, but they are not for this type of editing,apparently.With DVD Shrink,all I can do is cut the beginning and the end credits etc. Is there something like DVD Shrink, but better, that lets you cut out the commercials and then encode it and burn it?

After installation, Windows informed me that Norton would have to be reinstalled. I tried reinstalling it, but couldn't until the disabled one was uninstalled. When I tried to uninstall it, there were some files that the uninstall program couldn't find, so the uninstall failed. I need to know how I can get the disabled one off my system so that I can reinstall Norton again.

I did the repair install and booted to windows (in safe mode) but it crashed on agp440.sys, which seems to be a fairly common problem with outdated chipset drivers. I know I can disable this driver in the recovery console, but when I boot to my XP disk, it cannot find my XP installation, It just goes straight to the screen where I can pick a partition to install onto. How did my XP install get lost? I recently fixed up my boot records and everything was fine, I was always able to use the recovery console. Obviously the install is there since I can start booting to it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI posted about an "uncountable boot error" that my other computer had and, the day before that happened, i thought i backed up my information but it turns out i only copied the information to the cdrw drive but had not written it.and the original files (though i am not sure about the ones that were waiting in the cdrw drive) i am pretty sure i deleted ..and the cd i have does show all the files i thought i had backed up, but when i try to view any one of them they are not viewable (for example, html files will come up as gibberish). the other computer that had the error is up and running - i don't think there was any reformatting, only chkdsk, but i am not sure (without being there to look) .if this even matters.. whether any of the files are still waiting on the cdrw drive.

I am not sure how far the direcroty goes, but I have counted to at least 26 directories deep. I cannot delete the parent folder in either explorer, or from the prompt. At the prompt I have tried RD foldername and it says, "Folder not empty". Tried del foldername*.* with no error and still cannot delete it.

When i open any link with "open in new window" the new window is not full size screen window.Of course i dragged it by mouse many times and that should fix it later.It means it should be opened as it had been dragged,but that's never happened though i dragged it about a hundred time as a full screen size.What is the wrong here?
