I've having serious problems every time I put media into the DVD-Rom drive on my PC running XP SP2, Have tried turning off auto play, but no effect, only way around it that seams to work is by pressing shift whem I put the disc in & crossing my fingers.Have no problems when I put the disc in the DVD RW
View 1 RepliesI've had this computer (ThinkPad R60e, WinXP Home SP3, 1.83 GHz 1 GB RAM) for years and its never had this kind of problem before: whenever I insert anything (thumb drive, camera, iPod) into the a USB port the computer goes into a blue screen of death saying "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" and "STOP: 0x00000050". I've noticed that with certain things like my external harddrive, it works fine if its plugged in while the computer boots, but not if inserted while its already active. I'm really not sure at all what could be causing this, I haven't changed anything drastically about the computer in quite a while. The only thing I can think of is my antivirus program (McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i) just recently found a trojan and I then did a full scan to get rid of it completely.

I have updated my bios (also loaded defaults) installed latest chip set drivers. I even tried to increase the "IPStackSize" in my registry.I can't seem to find a fix for this problem.

I have turned off Auto Insert Notification on my DVD drive, but this did not fix the problem.However, if I insert a music CD into the DVD drive, everything goes along just fine without any Blue Screen. If I start up my computer with a game CD or DVD already in the drive, I do not get a blue screen when I open up the game or DVD from the drive within My Computer. I only get the Blue Screen of Death after I open the DVD drive,insert the game CD or DVD, and the drive closes. The STOP error code in the Blue Screen of Death only gives me the line error.

Upon recieving my not so new but improved computer i was told that unfortunately he cud not reinstall the media center edition, but instead just the normal home edition. i proceeded to reinstall all the essentials i needed. Last night while playing World of warcraft, the power in my house went out for 5 minutes. Thinking it was a sign that i shud get to bed i didnt turn my computer on again. I have just installed a Samsung CLX-2160 on my Dell Dimension 5150 PC,which runs Windows XP Media Centre.As soon as the PC started reading the installation CD, it crashed with the following (taken from event viewer):The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0x804f106f, 0xba4fbaac, 0xba4fb7a8). A dump was saved in: C:WINDOWSMEMORY.DMP.
I rebooted with F8 and chose last working config.After a little enlightened guesswork and advice I removed my old Dell 725 printer driver(which had started giving an error message on startup). Now I could load the Samsung driver etc and the new printer works.However, XP still crashes whenever I reboot normally I can still bring up a working system with F8 as above (but I have to reload my PCI card drivers again - 2 port serial and sound card - for some reason)
Whenever i insert a dvd into my dvd drive my pc freezes, and then bsod happens. It has only started happening yesterday and its the same result with all dvd's i have tried so far. If i cause the bsod to appear too many times my computer becomes totally unable to start up(it reboots at the welcome screen when windows is loading) and even safemode doesn't work. So basically i need help in fixing my dvd drive(i know it is the dvd drives fault because i ended up having to reformat and same error appears so i disconnected dvd drive for now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust reformatted my HD and reinstalled windows.when i insert some dvd disks the following message appears:d:is not a valid win 32 application on the other hand, the title of the dvd is displayed and i can open it too. When i click on setup within the dvd i get the following message: setup.exe is not a valid win 32 application. This problem applies to both my DVD drives. I have tried them with GTA san andreas and with Oblivion. Same results...on the other hand, half-life 2 dvd works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000). I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.

beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............
Anytime i go to watch a movie, it flashes black real quick before it starts and then again after i close it.Any idea why? (ATI Mobility x1300 video card, and latest catalyst drivers).

You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.

The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen
boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive
Toshiba Satellite running on windows XP
When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

View 3 Replies View RelatedI couldnt start up windows. It would hang at the windows loading screen and go no further. So I was told to try a repair-install. And thats where even more trouble has started. So I started to repair-install. During the Windows Install setup, it gets almost to the point of being completed, but gave me a blue screen error STOP message at around the "18 minutes left" mark. During "Registering components". It would do this every time at the same spot. So I searched a bit about how to solve the problem. One suggestion I found on the interwebs was to try it with only one stick of ram installed, I have four overall at 2gb. So I tried that, next time I boot up to the comp, it loads up the bios, and then goes to the black windows loading screen with the loading bar, then starts with a blue screen saying "Setup is being restarted" So I figure its restarting my windows installation since it never was completed, after that message, the screen goes black with a cursor, and stays that way forever. I immediately put all the ram back in, and no luck, same thing. I tested each individual ram stick, same thing, just goes black. So now, I can't even seem to re-install windows. Did my hard drive just crap out? Some hardware issue? Im already thinking about buying a new fresh hard drive, installing windows on there, and just moving all my files from the old hard drive over to the new one. Though that would be a pain, I really want to save my current drive! And all the data on it.

I have no problems playing games with my new FX 5200 Ultra video card by BFG, but I am at random times getting the annoying green screen that blanks out my videos I am streaming or playing(happens when I am streaming more often). Then after that happens usually, the computer reboots or shuts off. I never had this happen before.

But after reading it i think this is a different problem, so, here goes: I recently bought a new graphic card: Radeon all-in-wonder x1800xl. Installed it on a clean system (did a reformat before i installed). The problem occurs after usually 30-60 minutes of gaming (so far with oblivion, black & white 2). The game freezes for about 30 sec and then goes into blue-screen mode.
The message is as follows:
Kernel-Data-inpage-error stop error screen
then there are a lot of numbers etc.
I have sometimes noticed a slight change in fan noise prior to freeze (speeding up)
After reebot everything's back to normal.........
When I turned my computer on this morning it starts up but when it gets to the boot screen it gives me a blue screen but my computer instantaniously restarts so i have no idea what it said. What should I do I'm using ERD Commander 2005 and that let me boot into my computer but its limited I've never used ERD Commander before I've tryed a few things but nothing has worked yet
