Installed Virus Removal Programs / Unable To Play SWAT Game?
Jan 19, 2007I ran a bunch of different spyware removal tools and now whe nI try to play swat-4 TSS I have the most terrible lag in the world. Played this game for a yr with NO problems. Lag problem started after I ran those programs. I am curious if the spyware removal proggies didn't take a file or two that I need for internet connection.I know there was somewhere in win 98 that I could check windows for missing corrupt window files and have them replaced and or repaired can you do that with XP and how do I get there ?

Jan 27, 2006I insert either a game CD or DVD into my DVD-RW drive, I get a Blue Screen of Death. I have turned off Auto Insert Notification on my DVD drive, but this did not fix the problem.However, if I insert a music CD into the DVD drive, everything goes along just fine without any Blue Screen. If I start up my computer with a game CD or DVD already in the drive, I do not get a blue screen when I open up the game or DVD from the drive within My Computer. I only get the Blue Screen of Death after I open the DVD drive,insert the game CD or DVD, and the drive closes. The STOP error code in the Blue Screen of Death only gives me the line error.

Sep 18, 2006Right, everything else works just fine on this computer, including loads of games, new and old, programs systerm etc.I have had problems with the Raptor drive but have had a replacement sent and installed ok I'm trying to run Need For Speed : Most Wanted : Black Edition.I can play just fine for anything from 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours then the sound loops, the display goes blank and the PC shuts off.I have re-installed windows, defragged the drives (took days), re-installed drivers, swapped hardware, played in 2000, 98, NT modes, turned off SLI (turned it back on again) just about everything i can think of.I have loads of other games but it's really frustrating me that i can't play this without it crashing the system.

Jan 12, 2006Home Built, ASUS MB, AMD 2.7 gig CPU, 1 gig memory, SATA HD main, with ATA133 HD back up, Nvidia GeForce 6200 264MEG video card, Creative Audigy sound card, Windows XP Pro SP2, 500W PS, Sony CDRW and Sony DVD RW.Here's the problem, It does not matter what game I am playing, except for MS Games from windows, I get the blue screen of death and normally saying that my drivers are out of date or there is a problem with them. Sometimes it will say I have a memory error.I have cleaned and/or replaced all fans and heatsinks, checked for bulging caps, burnt or damaged ICs Resisters, diodes, transistors, etc. Reinstalled all divers and updated them with latest from factory. System works just fine on IE, Mail, IMs, MS office 2003, etc.

Sep 14, 2005My computer (crashing and rebooting during gameplay) I'm wondering if it could be the card driver maybe not compatible with something? I have a Radeon 9550 graphics card and a ECS661fx-m motherboard my radeon driver is the catalyst 5.8 a long shot I know as all the driver's iv'e had installed made no differance. I tried the driver verifier and that just left a mess, as soon as I started it the comp went into reboot opened the desktop and then went into reboot over and over again(that was in safe mode) the only way to stop it was to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows xp I got so fed up with it that i'm waitng for my new motherboard a Abit a-17 guru 865pe in the hopes that might work if not its a new graphics card and it wont be a Radeon.

Jan 16, 2008I know, I know...it seems as if everywhere you look, someone has a different opinion on this.I'm running an older system Dell Dimension 4550 Pentium 4 XP Home SP2 1GB Ram...2.4Ghz...533 MHz Front Side Bus...I recently installed a 400 GB HD to act as my slave drive. I added a 4GB partition, dedicated to the paging file. At this point, I have my Master Drive's (C) paging file set to 2MB-50MB; the Slave Drive (D) has no paging file and the partition on the Slave (G) is set to 1536MB-3800MB.
The biggest memory hog is Firefox, which gets to around 200,000k if I let it. Spyware Terminator runs at about 50,000k, as does Thunderbird.Then, I have several programs that run in the 30,000k range (FeedDemon, Replay AV, etc).The rest (around 20 programs are fairly low users).What I'm trying to accomplish is, getting that little bit of extra performance so that when I'm running a program like Winamp and enjoying music, I don't get stutters in the performance when I open a browser or execute a function.

After playing for a LONG time, the game briefly paused and I saw some visual artifacts, textures were all messed up etc. But I loaded a savegame and it worked fine after that. (I admit it, I had tried overclocking my GPU but that was over three weeks ago and I reset the settings back to normal.) Then, after about an hour, I used alt+tab to check out a walkthrough, then alt+tabbed back and it took much longer than normal to get back into the game...
